 The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), Qatar Charity (QC), and Sidra Medicine have concluded a specialised medical convoy for paediatric cardiac surgery and catheterisation in Yemen.Over one week, the volunteer team of medical professionals has been performing medical examinations, interventions, and life-saving surgeries for many children with congenital heart defects. The mission was more than successful, with a total of 107 free medical interventions for children (86 cardiac catheterisations and 21 open-heart surgeries) performed by the visiting consultant and specialist cardiologists, who were assisted by the medical staff at the Cardiovascular and Kidney Transplant Centre in Taiz. In terms of capacity-building, the programme involved a specialised training workshop for the medical staff at the host centre on ultrasound-guided arterial catheterisation techniques, to increase their skills and enhance the quality of medical services provided for critical cases, particularly in paediatrics. During the closing ceremony, the medical team was recognised for their dedicated efforts to serve and take care of the Yemeni children with heart conditions. The ceremony also honoured the representatives of the three partners – the QRCS, QC, and Sidra Medicine – whose contributions helped make this medical project a significant success.The organisers praised the level of co-ordination with local authorities and medical facilities in Yemen. They emphasised that such effective humanitarian partnerships help overcome the challenges facing the Yemeni health sector and give patients, especially children, a fresh hope for having a normal and stable life. Eng. Ahmed al-Sharaji, the head of the QRCS representation office in Yemen, said: “This medical convoy represents the QRCS’s commitment to providing continued and diverse humanitarian assistance for the people of Yemen, especially in healthcare.” “Together with our partners, we work to support Yemeni health facilities, bridge the gap in financial and human resources, and make them able to keep serving the population,” he said. “Also, transfer of expertise and capacity-building ensure sustainable and better healthcare for patients in the long term.” Dr Abdullah al-Nuaim, the director of the QC’s office in Yemen, commended that achievement. “We are proud of what we have accomplished, alongside our partners at the QRCS,” he said. “This joint humanitarian intervention was not just a one-time response, but rather a practical manifestation of our 2026-30 strategy, which deals with empowerment, sustainability, and maximised impact at top priorities.” “Today, we are working to deliver health projects that not only meet immediate needs but also leave a lasting developmental impact that makes a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable people in Yemen,” Dr al-Nuaim added. “This convoy sought to alleviate the suffering of children with weak hearts, allowing them to live normally like other children.” “This medical project was an essential humanitarian opportunity to perform over 100 major medical interventions for sick children within a short timeframe, with a view to improving their lives and reshaping their future,” said project manager Dr Monira al-Aini. “We focused on the highest quality and safety standards, while engaging local medical professionals throughout, helping to develop their expertise and upgrade paediatric cardiac surgery and catheterisation services in the country.” The success of the medical convoy was the outcome of cumulative efforts and fruitful partnership.Earlier, the QRCS and QC had supported the Cardiovascular and Kidney Transplant Centre in Taiz with state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation equipment. As a result, the centre increased its capacity and performed more diagnostic and interventional catheterisation procedures free of charge for children and older people.This, by extension, helped ease the financial and health burden on poor patients.  

Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed food baskets to Syrian refugees in Jordan’s Azraq and Zaatari camps. Executed in close coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the initiative forms part of Qatar Charity's continued global interventions aimed at supporting refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) and mitigating protracted humanitarian crises.The distribution operations spanned four consecutive days, with field teams dedicating two operational days to each camp. During this period, 2,000 food baskets were distributed, benefiting approximately 16,000 people from the target groups.  **media[445902]**Each food basket included a selection of basic food items that meet the daily needs of beneficiary families for an entire month. This initiative contributes to enhancing food security and easing living burdens, in accordance with standards that ensure food safety and quality. The project embodies Qatar Charity's mission to ensure a dignified life for all and reinforce the resilience of vulnerable families in Syrian refugee camps within the Kingdom.Qatar Charity's Jordan Branch has been operating since 2021 in partnership with the Jordanian government and civil society organizations. It provides a range of services, including social care through sponsorships for orphans and vulnerable families, relief services for those affected by humanitarian crises, and economic empowerment programs to assist those in need across the Kingdom.

Qatar Charity (QC)’s “Alaqraboon” Center has launched its Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH campaign in Qatar as part of its seasonal programmes aimed at promoting the values of compassion and social solidarity and expanding community support during the blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah to meet the needs of beneficiaries across the country. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Center stated that the campaign is expected to benefit approximately 24,200 people through the support of donors. It added that the campaign includes a package of projects designed to support families and vulnerable groups within Qatar. The Center highlighted support for needy and low-income families, widows and divorcees, families of prisoners, and persons with disabilities through the Udhiyah project during Eid al-Adha. The project targets nearly 20,000 beneficiaries and will this year utilise an upgraded smart coupon mechanism through “Alaqraboon” application, facilitating collection procedures, ensuring equitable access, and preserving beneficiaries’ privacy. As part of the support for children, the campaign will implement the Eid Gift Project for orphans and children from low-income families to help them meet their needs ahead of Eid, alongside “Eid Joy” festival aimed at bringing happiness to orphans and strengthening their sense of community care during the blessed occasion. The two initiatives are expected to benefit around 1,700 children. The campaign also includes a dedicated track for urgent humanitarian cases, providing support in healthcare services, including treatment and medication, rehabilitation and support for persons with disabilities, educational assistance, and aid for needy and low-income families, elderly people, widows, divorcees, debtors, prisoners and their families, in addition to meeting the needs of sponsored individuals. The programme aims to support approximately 2,500 urgent humanitarian cases, reflecting the Center’s commitment to alleviating hardship for beneficiaries and their families during times of need and maximising humanitarian impact during the blessed days. Chairman of “Alaqraboon” Center Faisal Rashid al-Fehaida said the days of Dhul-Hijjah embody the values of mercy and solidarity within society and reaffirm that charitable work is a year-round responsibility. He added that the campaign builds on ongoing efforts to serve the community in Qatar, reach those most in need, and bring happiness to beneficiaries. Al-Fahida noted that the campaign aims to raise QR30mn and reach approximately 24,200 beneficiaries across Qatar, adding that these efforts reflect the trust of the community and the continued support of generous donors. He called on donors and members of the community in Qatar to support the campaign and contribute to bringing joy, alleviating suffering, and ensuring assistance reaches those who deserve it, stressing the importance of making the most of charitable seasons in ways that strengthen social solidarity across the country. He also expressed hope that the campaign would make a tangible difference in the lives of beneficiaries during the blessed days.  

Qatar Charity (QC) has launched an emergency water project in Taiz, Yemen, to help address the city’s severe water crisis. The project benefited around 13,500 people in three main districts of Taiz - Al Mudaffar, Salh, and Al Qahira amid worsening water shortages caused by drought. A total of 108 water distribution points were covered, with 36 points in each district. Taiz is facing one of Yemen’s most severe water emergencies, particularly in elevated neighbourhoods, where water supply interruptions can last for months. For many families, access to drinking water has become a daily struggle, placing heavy financial and physical burdens on already vulnerable households. 

 Qatar Charity (QC), through its office in Senegal, has signed a framework co-operation agreement with the country’s ministry of health and public hygiene. The agreement aims to strengthen partnerships in the fields of health and public hygiene, support vulnerable groups, and improve health services in both urban and rural areas. The signing ceremony took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Dakar, under the patronage and in the presence of Qatar’s ambassador to Senegal Yousuf bin Shaaban al-Sada, along with senior ministry officials and representatives from the QC office in Senegal. The agreement was signed by Ali Jemai, the acting country director for QC Senegal, and Minister of Health and Public Hygiene Dr Ibrahima Sy. The framework covers key areas of collaboration, most notably the construction, equipping, and maintenance of health facilities; providing hospitals and health centres with medical equipment; conducting joint medical campaigns; and combating infectious diseases and malnutrition. Additionally, a joint follow-up committee will be formed to ensure effective implementation. The minister expressed his appreciation for the QC’s role in supporting the health sector. He emphasised that this agreement represents a qualitative step in the partnership between both parties, aligning with national goals to enhance investment in human capital and improve the quality of healthcare services. Dr Sy also highlighted the importance of co-operation in malaria control, maternal and child health, and malnutrition, as well as supporting health infrastructure and staff development, particularly in remote and fragile areas. Al-Sada praised the signing of the agreement, reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to supporting health and development projects that serve the Senegalese community. He expressed his hope that this partnership would improve the lives of vulnerable populations and further strengthen bilateral co-operation between the two countries. 

Qatar Charity (QC) held a foundation-stone ceremony to launch the Gaziantep Social Center project in the presence of M Faisal bin Abdullah al-Hanzab, ambassador of Qatar to Turkiye; Kemal Çeber, governor of Gaziantep; and Nawaf al-Hammadi, executive vice-president for programmes and communication at Qatar Charity.Held in in partnership with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Turkiye, the project aims to establish an integrated centre serving orphans and their mothers, providing a safe, stable residential and social environment and improving beneficiaries’ quality of life.It includes residential units of varying sizes to accommodate 45 families, fully equipped with essential facilities, along with service and recreational amenities such as a dining hall, spaces for social activities, play grounds and children’s areas, outdoor green spaces, and parking.The project spans approximately 9,975sq m, with a built-up area of 3,375sq m. Completion is expected within one year, at an estimated cost of around QR10mn.Ambassador al-Hanzab said: “The foundation-stone ceremony for the Gaziantep Social Center reflects the depth of the strong fraternal ties between Qatar and Turkiye. Qatar remains committed to supporting development and humanitarian projects that meet the needs of the most vulnerable groups especially orphans — ensuring them a dignified life and a safe future in a stable environment.”Governor Çeber praised the close co-operation with Qatar Charity and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Turkiye, noting that the social centre will be a significant addition to the province’s humanitarian services.Al-Hammadi said the new social centre aims to create a lasting impact for 45 families of orphans by providing a comprehensive residential and social environment that goes beyond traditional shelter. He added that the project covering nearly 10,000sq m was designed as a vibrant community with service and recreational facilities and green spaces, helping promote beneficiaries’ psychological and social stability. 

Qatar Charity’s team in Sudan has completed the distribution of food baskets to 15,708 beneficiaries, with generous support from philanthropists in Qatar. The beneficiaries included the families of sponsored orphans, as well as vulnerable and displaced families in four Sudanese states. **media[433192]**The project targeted sponsored orphan households and vulnerable families in Port Sudan, Red Sea State; the cities of Kassala and Khashm Al Girba in Kassala State; the Al Qolid area in Northern State; as well as Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah City in River Nile State. Fatima Ibrahim, deputy commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Kassala State, praised Qatar Charity’s implementation of this project during her participation in the launch of the food-basket distribution.  Atiyat Abdullah, secretary of the Orphans Welfare Council in Kassala State, also commended Qatar Charity’s special attention to orphans and the association’s efforts in distributing the food baskets. Several mothers of orphans in Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah City “Rofaqa,” a model experience for the care of orphans and their families in Sudan, expressed their appreciation for the generosity of philanthropists in Qatar in providing food baskets that include the essential items needed by every Sudanese family.  One sponsored orphan’s mother said: “I extend my thanks to the kind people in Qatar who provided us with food supplies that reached us at a time when we were in dire need.” Sponsored orphan Hajar al-Hilali added that distributing the baskets in eases families’ burdens and brings joy to them and to the sponsored orphans in the city.  Several mothers of sponsored orphans in the Northern State, upon receiving the food baskets in the Al Qolid area, noted that the baskets are of great importance considering the difficult economic conditions, which make obtaining food staples difficult and out of reach for many vulnerable families.  Qatar Charity’s team also distributed food baskets to one of the largest Qur'an memorisation centres in Northern State, as part of its commitment to reinforcing the values of generosity and social solidarity, alleviating the burdens of those most in need, and bringing relief to them.

Qatar Charity raised QAR 40 million during its '27th Night Challenge' campaign to implement life-saving medical initiatives in several countries as well as in the State of Qatar.The campaign's donations exceeded the target within just three hours in a fundraising event on YouTube Live that coincided with the 27th night of Ramadan.The "27th Night Challenge" was held this year under the theme "Warding off Calamity", with media participation from influencer Abdullah Al Ghafri and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harami, who drove community engagement and mobilized donations during the event. They were joined by several influencers, doctors, digital platforms, and supporting medical centers.This year, the ‘27th Night Challenge’ placed special emphasis on the health sector in response to the rising number of critical cases requiring urgent treatment in countries with high need. The health initiatives to be supported include open-heart surgeries and the correction of congenital heart defects in children, along with the treatment of eye diseases and surgeries that restore sight. They also cover cochlear implants for children with hearing loss, helping them hear and communicate, as well as the treatment of severe malnutrition in children. In addition, medical interventions will be carried out within Qatar to support patients with chronic illnesses and critical health conditions. Together, these efforts aim to save lives and create new stories of recovery.Overall, the "27th Night Challenge" aims to carry out approximately 6,770 surgeries, in addition to providing malnutrition treatment and supporting cancer patients within Qatar-impacting thousands of people and their families.

Qatar Charity’s “27th Night Challenge” has raised more than QR40mn in just three hours despite the exceptional circumstances, with the funds set to support life-saving medical initiatives in several countries, including Qatar.The initiative was held under the theme “Warding off Calamity” on Sunday from 9pm to midnight, coinciding with the 27th night of Ramadan.Qatar Charity and its partners thanked generous individuals, companies, and banks for their strong support of the initiative. It became the largest fundraising event on YouTube Live, broadcast through the Al Ghafri YouTube channel (QQQ) and Qatar Charity’s channel, in partnership with Mirsal Qatar.Qatar Charity prayed to Allah to accept the contributions of all partners, donors, and supporters, making their generosity a source of protection and well-being for them, their families, and their communities during these challenging times. The organisation also expressed its appreciation for their trust and for the collective efforts of partners, social media influencers, digital platforms, media outlets, and supporting medical centres.The “Warding off Calamity” campaign received support from numerous benefactors, alongside institutions and companies, including Ooredoo, Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar National Bank, Al Rayan Bank, Ahli Bank, Dukhan Bank, Doha Bank, Alfardan Corporation, Mowasalat, Al Jaber Group, Hazm Mall, Katara Cultural Village, Snoonu Qatar, Banquet Hospitality, Essa Al Sulaiti Law Firm, and Hand & Stone.The list of supporters also included Oakberry, Sugar and Spice, Single Bani, Canteen, Bold Cafe, Karak Marmi, and Khadeer Tea. Support also came from digital platforms including Al-Thuraya, Al Zubarah, Mjhar, Msheireb, Marsad Qatar, Marsad Football, Islami Marsad, Ahal Qatar, Elan, and Elan Deco.The “27th Night Challenge” was held this year under the theme “Warding off Calamity”, with media participation from influencer Abdullah al‑Ghafri and Dr Abdulrahman al‑Harami, who drove community engagement and mobilised donations during the event. They were joined by several influencers, doctors, digital platforms, and supporting medical centres.This year, the ‘27th Night Challenge’ placed special emphasis on the health sector in response to the rising number of critical cases requiring urgent treatment in countries with high need. The health initiatives to be supported include open-heart surgeries and the correction of congenital heart defects in children, along with the treatment of eye diseases and surgeries that restore sight. They also cover cochlear implants for children with hearing loss, helping them hear and communicate, as well as the treatment of severe malnutrition in children. In addition, medical interventions will be carried out within Qatar to support patients with chronic illnesses and critical health conditions. Together, these efforts aim to save lives and create new stories of recovery.Overall, the “27th Night Challenge” aims to carry out approximately 6,770 surgeries, in addition to providing malnutrition treatment and supporting cancer patients within Qatar — impacting thousands of people and their families.Generous supporters can still donate to the campaign over the next two days through the link: http://qch.qa/27night, by requesting the Home Collector service, by calling 44290000, or by visiting Qatar Charity’s branches and mall-based collectors. Contributions will remain open for two days after the live broadcast.
