His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Sunday with visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.  They discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, particularly in the economic field, along with regional developments and their impact on the global economy and energy markets, as well as several other issues of common interest.  Both sides stressed the importance of resolving disputes and conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic means, which contributes to strengthening security and stability at the regional and international levels.  They agreed to continue enhancing co-operation on a number of priority issues for Qatar and India by activating joint working mechanisms and bilateral committees between the two countries.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani received a written message from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud Sunday, pertaining to bilateral relations.  HE the prime minister received the message during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Qatar Prince Saad bin Mansour bin Saad al-Saud. Separately, the prime minister held phone calls with the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Jordan and Ghana, reviewing bilateral co-operation and the latest regional developments.  In his call with Turkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation and exchanged views on regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.  The call also touched on a number of issues of mutual concern.  The prime minister held a similar call with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, in which they discussed bilateral co-operation and ways to further strengthen ties, along with regional developments and the diplomatic push for security and stability following the US-Iran memorandum, as well as other issues of mutual interest.  The PM also fielded a call from Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Noel Barrot with the two discussing bilateral co-operation, the latest regional developments, particularly in Lebanon, and diplomatic efforts to promote security and stability in the region following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran as well as other issues of mutual interest.  He also spoke with Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, with the two reviewing bilateral co-operation and the latest regional developments, particularly efforts to promote security and stability following the US-Iran memorandum, and other matters of mutual concern.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held separate talks Saturday with visiting Libyan and Syrian officials, reaffirming Qatar's support for the unity and sovereignty of both countries.  He met Prime Minister of Libya's Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who is visiting Qatar.  They reviewed co-operation between the two countries and ways to support and develop it, and discussed the latest regional developments. The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's firm support for Libya's unity and for the Libyan people's aspirations for stability and development, along with its full backing for the Libyan political process, relevant Security Council resolutions and all peaceful solutions that preserve Libya's sovereignty.  He also met Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Asaad al-Shaibani, who is visiting the country. They reviewed bilateral co-operation and ways to enhance it, as well as the latest developments in Syria and issues of mutual concern.  The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria, and for the Syrian people's aspirations to live in dignity and build a state based on institutions and the rule of law. He also reaffirmed Qatar's support for efforts to rebuild, reconstruct and stabilise Syria. 

Her Excellency Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Singapore Stanley Loh.The meeting explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of labour market policy development, skills development and workforce training, and social protection, as well as means of further supporting and expanding cooperation.In her remarks during the meeting, HE Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to developing its labour system through the continuous modernization of legislation and policies, improving the working environment, strengthening the protection of workers' rights, investing in vocational training and professional development, and enhancing the efficiency and skills of the workforce in line with labour market developments and requirements.Her Excellency affirmed that the meeting represents an important platform for strengthening dialogue, exchanging expertise, and benefiting from successful experiences in developing labour market policies and enhancing human capital capabilities.Her Excellency also commended the Republic of Singapore's leading experience in the fields of occupational safety and health, social protection systems, skills development, and aligning education and training outcomes with labour market needs. She expressed the State of Qatar's aspiration to expand cooperation and exchange best practices between the two sides.Her Excellency further emphasised the importance of the official visit and the accompanying technical meetings in strengthening communication between the relevant authorities and opening new avenues for partnership and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in support of the shared interests of both countries. 

The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed, has signed a ‘Joint Statement on AI Opportunity’ between Qatar and the US during the Pax Silica Summit, recently held in Washington, DC.The joint statement serves as an annex to the Pax Silica Declaration signed by Qatar and the US in January this year, marking a strategic step aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in advanced technologies and supply chain security, supporting global economic stability and security, reinforcing the partnership between the two countries, and contributing to building a more resilient and sustainable economic ecosystem.The summit brought together member countries of the Pax Silica initiative. The first day was dedicated to discussions related to industry and the private sector, while the second day focused on government-related topics and ways to enhance cooperation among member countries.On the sidelines of the summit, al-Sayed held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of senior participating officials, including Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan; Saeed bin Mubarak al-Hajeri, the UAE’s Minister of State; Jacob Helberg, US Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment; and Dr Ceferino S Rodolfo, Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions at the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry.Al-Sayed also met with Chng Kai Fong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore; David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chains at the National Security Council; and Ben Black, CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation.The meetings discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment relations, expand prospects for economic cooperation, coordinate policies, explore opportunities in AI, facilitate trade exchanges, and support partnerships between business communities in a manner that serves mutual interests.Al-Sayed also met with several representatives of global companies, where the investment opportunities offered by Qatar were reviewed, alongside prospects for cooperation in priority sectors, particularly artificial intelligence and advanced technology, the digital economy, and supply chains. 

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Doha Ghulam Hoosein Asmal.The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual concern.

Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi received His Excellency Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani and his accompanying delegation at Muscat International Airport Tuesday, at the start of an official working visit to Oman.The visit comes as Doha and Muscat — two Gulf capitals that have long favoured quiet diplomacy over confrontation — look to deepen a partnership that has steadily gained weight amid a turbulent regional landscape. Both have carved out reputations as careful mediators, and their alignment on questions of de-escalation and dialogue has lent their co-operation a significance beyond the bilateral.The visit reflects the close fraternal ties between Oman and Qatar and aims to strengthen co-operation and co-ordination across a range of areas of mutual interest. 

Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal al-Thani held a meeting with Chinese ambassador Cao Xiaolin on Monday to discuss bilateral co-operation in the field of investment attraction between Qatar and China.The meeting also highlighted the investment opportunities and outstanding benefits offered by QFZ and supported by the country’s advanced infrastructure. The visit was followed by an introductory tour in the Business Innovation Park at Ras Bufontas Free Zone. 

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held talks Friday with Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen co-operation, as well as the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting security and stability in the region, following a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. HE Sheikh Mohammed affirmed Doha's support for launching negotiations between the US and Iran to reach sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means. He added such efforts would enhance regional security, open new horizons for cooperation, development, and prosperity, and serve the common interests of peoples in the region and the world.  

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani sent a written message to Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance them.  The message was delivered by Qatar’s ambassador to Singapore Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki during his meeting with the director-general of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia Directorate at Singapore's foreign affairs ministry, Jeevan Singh.

His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar, Arman Issagaliyev, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs extended thanks to the Ambassador for his efforts in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations, wishing him success in his new duties.

Chinese President Xi Jinping Tuesday endorsed the ​political leadership of Myanmar's military chief-turned-president ‌Min Aung Hlaing as the two met in Beijing to map out the ‌future development of ⁠bilateral ties.Beijing prioritises ‌its ties with Naypyitaw as part of ‌its diplomacy strategy with neighbouring nations, Chinese state news agency Xinhua cited Xi as saying in the ⁠meeting, affirming his support for the current Myanmar government's efforts for its country's development and security."I am willing to continue strengthening our leadership (over our countries' bilateral ties), carry forward the brotherly friendship between our two peoples, deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation," Xi told Min Aung Hlaing, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. The former junta chief is in China for a five-day state visit until Friday, his first trip to the world's second-largest economy since he formalised his grip ​on power following controversial elections in the war-torn country in December and January.Xi also spoke about making greater contributions to regional peace and development through China's bilateral ties with Myanmar. The two countries share an almost 2,200-km (1,367-mile) land ‌border.Beijing, the biggest investor with ⁠the most visible strategic and ​economic footprint in Myanmar, has always been pragmatic in how it maintains ties ​with Naypyitaw, said Moe Thuzar, a senior fellow at ISEAS Yusof Ishak Institute, a Singapore-based research centre."The current engagement is thus more about continuity...(and) takes a long-term perspective," she said.Beijing held a state welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People before the leaders began their talks in a closed-door meeting that lasted for less than an hour.The two men then witnessed the signing of co-operation documents, Chinese state news agency Xinhua said.The 18 memorandums for cooperation covered areas including cross-border transportation in the Greater Mekong subregion, free trade, assistance in natural disasters, health and media.STABILITY AND SECURITYChina remains one of the most ‌important foreign partners of Myanmar's military, which ‌seized power from the elected government of ⁠Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021, triggering an armed uprising.China reiterated its support for ⁠unifying domestic political forces and restoring stability ⁠in Myanmar, saying it also reflected the Southeast Asian nation's long-term national interests."China supports all parties in Myanmar advancing peace and reconciliation through dialogue, achieving lasting stability in northern Myanmar," Xi told his guest, according to Xinhua.Xi also called on both sides to advance key infrastructure projects with ensured security, framing their progress as beneficial to Myanmar's economic development.Beijing has invested in projects in Myanmar under its ​Belt and Road Initiative, including an oil and gas pipeline crossing the country and planned infrastructure including a deep-sea port, which are part of the massive China-Myanmar Economic Corridor connecting the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan to the Indian Ocean.Many of the projects, located in active combat zones, have faced threats and attacks since the coup.The meeting is Min Aung Hlaing's second with Xi in less than a year, after he attended the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation summit in Tianjin last August.While Min Aung Hlaing picked India for his first foreign trip after becoming president, some analysts said ‌the visits to China suggested ​a closer relationship with Beijing and a boost to his international acceptance.
