His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani was expected to stay on in Switzerland as all main stakeholders, including Qatar, join the latest push to make the ceasefire between the US and Iran hold and a memorandum of understanding signed last week lead to further negotiations.
According to a Al Jazeera correspondent, the prime minister “will be here for a little while longer than expected.”
The PM held talks on Friday with Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen co-operation, as well as the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting security and stability in the region.
The PM affirmed Qatar’s support for launching negotiations between the US and Iran to reach sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means.
