The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has digitised a further 14 maritime transport services, now available electronically through its official website and split between large-vessel transactions and seafarers' affairs.Ten of the new e-services relate to big vessels, covering ship sanitation, permanent and provisional registration, renewal of provisional registration, annual fees, extension certificate, exemption certificate, certificate of seaworthiness, the issuing of an NOL for announcing a navigational warning, and penalties record and payment.The remaining four deal with seafarers' affairs, namely the issuance, renewal, amendment and replacement of the endorsement recognising a GMDSS operator certificate. GMDSS, the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, is an international safety framework mandated by the IMO under the SOLAS convention. Beneficiaries can now apply for any of these services at any time and from anywhere, saving time and effort.MoT Information Systems Department acting director Dr Ahmad Nasser al-Kuwari said automating the new package advances the ministry's wider push for digital transformation across all its services, with the aim of greater efficiency, simpler and more streamlined procedures, and a better user experience. He said this was in keeping with a strategy to modernise the transport industry in step with technological advancement and innovation, and to deliver integrated government services that are simpler and more accessible round the clock.He added that the ministry would continue automating further services to improve the user experience and the quality of life of all beneficiaries, as part of broader national efforts to raise the standard of government services for individuals and businesses, boost administrative efficiency through automation, and foster a more open government with wider participation from all parties.The MoT website already offers a range of land and maritime transport e-services that users can access and apply for at any time and from anywhere.

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has concluded its inspection campaigns on limousine companies and companies providing passenger transportation services via electronic applications.In its press release, the MOT said that the Q1 of 2026 campaigns were carried out in collaboration with relevant Ministry of Interior departments.The inspection campaigns detected 32 violations of the Law No. 8 of 2019 Regulating Road Transport and its Implementing Regulations issued by the Minister of Transport's Decision No. 13 of 2024.The new campaigns covered all areas across Qatar, with particular focus on business, service, and vital areas; something that reflects an expanding crackdown coverage and greater attention to crowded and high-business locations.With such campaigns, the MOT continues its law enforcement effort on the violating companies. It also urges all companies to follow the laws in place and obtain the necessary licenses to be able to do the business legally and avoid accountability.The MOT pays great attention to ensuring that passenger transportation companies follow all applicable laws and meet all safety requirements, while providing the highest quality of service.
