The Cabinet Wednesday welcomed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's participation in the G7 Summit in France and his talks with US President Donald Trump, hailing the invitation as recognition of the country's growing international role in promoting peace, development and regional stability.  The meeting, held at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, was chaired by His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani.  In a statement read by His Excellency the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali al-Mohannadi, ministers praised the Amir's attendance at the summit in Evian-les-Bains and his discussions with Trump on the sidelines of the gathering. The Cabinet said the meeting reflected the depth of strategic ties between Qatar and the United States, and a shared commitment to strengthening co-operation in support of global peace and security.  Ministers also reiterated Qatar's welcome of a recent agreement between the United States and Iran on a memorandum of understanding (MoU), describing it as an important step towards ending conflict, safeguarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and supporting regional and international stability.  They commended efforts by both Washington and Tehran to resolve their differences through dialogue, and praised Pakistan's role, alongside that of regional and international partners, in helping facilitate the agreement.  The Cabinet highlighted Qatar's own diplomatic efforts in support of mediation, and expressed hope that future negotiations would lead to a comprehensive and lasting peace.  Separately, ministers welcomed Qatar's ranking as the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa in the 2026 Global Peace Index, saying the result reinforced its reputation as one of the region's most stable and secure nations.  On domestic affairs, the Cabinet reviewed a Shura Council proposal for a draft law on the digital protection of children. The legislation seeks to regulate the use of digital platforms by those under the age of 16 and to strengthen safeguards against online risks. The draft was referred to the relevant authorities for further study.  Ministers also took note of the Shura Council's approval of a new animal health law intended to modernise existing legislation, strengthen disease prevention and control, and align Qatar's regulatory framework with international standards. Officials said the law would support food security objectives and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.  The Cabinet further noted the approval of amendments to legislation governing real estate brokerage. The changes would transfer regulatory responsibility for the sector from the Ministry of Justice to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, to improve oversight and support the sector's development.  It also approved a co-operation agreement between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on combating doping in sport. The meeting concluded with a review of the 2025 annual report of the Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations and a report on the country's participation in the 27th meeting of GCC transport ministers.

His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani Wednesday met ConocoPhillips Chairman and Chief Executive Ryan Lance and his accompanying delegation during their visit to Doha. The meeting took place at the Amiri Diwan, focusing on co-operation between Qatar and ConocoPhillips. Both sides explored ways to further develop ties, particularly in the energy sector. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani discussed with Rwandan President Paul Kagame bilateral relations and ways to enhance them during a meeting held Sunday at the Amiri Diwan. At the outset of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed the Rwandan president, commending the strong relations between Qatar and Rwanda in various fields that serve the common interests of the two countries.  Kagame extended his thanks and expressed his appreciation to HH the Amir for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, stressing his country's keenness to develop and strengthen friendly relations with Qatar in many fields.  HH the Amir and the Rwandan president discussed the latest regional and international developments, in addition to ways to enhance international peace and security. **media[449486]**A number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials attended the meeting. On the Rwandan side, a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation attended the meeting.  Earlier Kagame and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon their arrival at Doha International Airport by His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi and Rwandan ambassador to Qatar Igor Marara Kayinamura. 

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the Amiri Diwan Sunday announced that the Eid holidays will be as follows: First, ministries, other government entities and public institutions: the Eid holiday starts Tuesday, Dhu Al-Hijjah 9, 1447, corresponding to May 26, 2026, and ends Saturday, Dhu Al-Hijjah 13, 1447, corresponding to May 30, 2026.  Employees will resume work Sunday, Dhu Al-Hijjah 14, 1447, corresponding to May 31, 2026. Second, Qatar Central Bank (QCB), banks, and financial institutions working under the supervision of QCB and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA): HE the Governor of Qatar Central Bank determines the start and end date of the holiday.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has received the credentials of new ambassadors to Qatar. He received the credentials of Aibek Toktobolotov (Kyrgyz Republic) and Ana Filomena da Costa Rocha (Portugal) at his office at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday.  His Highness the Amir welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in their missions, as well as further development and growth in the relations between Qatar and their respective countries.  The envoys conveyed the greetings of the leaders of their countries and their wishes to the Qatari people for enduring progress and prosperity. They were accorded official reception ceremonies upon arrival at the Amiri Diwan.

His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received at his office in the Amiri Diwan today Yun Hyunsoo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, who called on His Highness to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country. His Highness the Amir wished the ambassador success in his future duties and further growth and prosperity in relations between the two friendly countries. For his part, the ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir and to the officials in the country for the co-operation he received, which contributed to the success of his work in the country.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani honoured the winners of the seventh edition of the State Appreciation Award and the State Incentive Award for outstanding achievements in science, literature and the arts during a ceremony held at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday.  The winners of the State Appreciation Award were Hamad bin Mohsen al-Nuaimi in the field of poetry, Professor Dr Sheikha Asma Ali Jassim al-Thani in biomedical sciences, and Professor Dr Mustafa Aqeel Mahmoud in history.  The State Incentive Award went to Professor Dr Maryam Abdulrahman al-Nuaimi for literary criticism and rhetoric, Shamma Shaheen al-Kuwari for novel writing, Professor Dr Maryam Majid Sultan al-Falasi for education, Dr Yousef Mohammed Yousef al-Horr for civil engineering, Dr Noura Hamad Mohsen Fetais for computer science, Professor Dr Seham Yousif al-Qaradawi for chemistry, Dr Mashaal Nidham Abdulkarim al-Shafie for biomedical sciences, Professor Dr Jassim Abdullah Abbas al-Khayyat for marine sciences, Saad Abdulwahab al-Muhannadi for caricature art, and Professor Dr Ahmed Abdulrahman Hussein al-Emadi for physical education.  HH the Amir praised the winners for their distinguished contributions in their respective fields, commending their role in supporting the nation's development journey and enriching the cultural and intellectual landscape locally and internationally. He wished them continued success and further contributions in service of the nation.  The award recipients expressed their deep appreciation to HH the Amir for the honour, affirming that the awards would serve as a strong motivation to continue contributing to the country's progress and advancement.  The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi and Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani.

His Highness The Deputy Amir and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, chaired the fourth meeting of the Board of Trustees for the 2025-2026 academic year, held this morning at the Amiri Diwan. At the beginning of the meeting, the Board reviewed the implementation of the decisions and recommendations from the third meeting of the 2025-2026 academic year, discussed the items on the agenda, and made the appropriate decisions. The Board also approved a proposal to amend the admission quotas at Qatar University, effective Fall 2027, and endorsed a proposal to restructure the Bachelor of Education program in general education.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met at his office in the Amiri Diwan Wednesday with President of the European Council Antonio Costa and his accompanying delegation.  They discussed regional and international updates, particularly the developments in the Middle East, foremost among them the situation in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, in light of the ongoing escalation and its humanitarian and security repercussions.  The two sides also discussed the impact of this escalation on regional security, especially on the security of international maritime navigation and the stability of global energy markets. They emphasised the importance of maintaining the smooth flow of energy supplies and enhancing security and stability in vital maritime routes.  The meeting also considered ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Qatar and the European Union, affirming Doha's role as a reliable partner in supporting global energy security, including the supply of liquefied natural gas to international markets.  Additionally, the two sides explored prospects for expanding bilateral co-operation, particularly in the energy, trade, and investment sectors, in a way that promotes mutual interests.
