Questions of identity, innovation, and the future of education took centre stage Sunday at the third Mutual Dialogue Summit in Doha, uniting GCC youth and experts in dialogue aimed at turning ideas into impact. The summit is organised by QatarDebate Centre and runs over two days at Msheireb Museums, with the participation of more than 100 young men and women from the GCC countries. The event is held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and in co-operation with Msheireb Museums as a cultural partner. The summit opened with an inaugural speech by Reem al-Musallam, director of the Communications Department at QatarDebate Centre, who stressed that cultural and intellectual heritage should not be viewed as a static past, but rather as a source of inspiration upon which the future is built. She addressed the participants, saying: “You are the heirs of a rich legacy, one we do not carry as a past at which we stop, but as a source of inspiration from which we draw energy, build new ideas, and open broader horizons for the future, serving as a starting point for a vision led by youth with open minds and ambitions that go beyond the familiar.” Al-Musallam stressed that the summit serves as a platform for raising questions about the future and as a space for dialogue intended to be interpreted into impact and shared responsibility. The summit serves as a unifying platform for experts and decision-makers to discuss contemporary issues. The first session, titled “Redefining Education in the Digital Age through Educational Technology,” was moderated by Salem al-Shamkhi, QatarDebate ambassador, with the participation of Aldana Alsemaitt, Programme Associate at the WISE Conference; Mohamed al-Suraye, co-founder of the Dawrat platform; and Ahmed Farag, entrepreneur, founder, and expert in educational technology. Speakers discussed the role of digital innovation in developing the education system, enhancing learning quality, and envisioning the future of education. Another session titled “Gulf Architecture between Memory and Innovation” followed, with the participation of Ibrahim al-Jaidah, architect and CEO of Arab Engineering Bureau; Bashar al-Salem from Kuwait, architect and CEO of Kayan; and moderated by Moza al-Obaidan, architect and public policy researcher. The session addressed ways to maintain a healthy balance between preserving Gulf architectural identity and embracing innovation in contemporary urban design. It explored harmonising visual identity with modern requirements and drawing inspiration from traditional solutions to adapt to environmental conditions. The panel also discussed adopting modern solutions that meet the specific requirements of the local environment and climate, as well as ways to incorporate key features of the original local heritage architecture into modern buildings to maintain the place’s visual identity and reflect its heritage. The Aisha al-Nesf, head of Communications and Executive Affairs at the Qatar Debate Centre, stressed that the Mutual Dialogue Summit 2026 seeks to provide an interactive space that brings young people together around constructive dialogue and thoughtful discussions on shared issues, promoting a culture of critical thinking and supporting their ability to propose innovative solutions rooted in identity and aligned with future aspirations. 

Al Ahli clinched a thrilling penalty shootout 4-3 against Al Jazira after a 1-1 draw in regulation time to claim the Challenge Cup in the third edition of Qatar-UAE Super Cup at the Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi Sunday. Hani Taleb Ballan, CEO of the Qatar Stars League Foundation, and Abdullah Nasser al-Junaibi, Chairman of the UAE Pro League, presented the trophy to the winners. It was Suhaib Gannan who got the winning strike in a nail-biting shootout where Al Ahli’s kicks of Driss Fettouhi and Eric Exposito were stopped by Al Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khasif while Oumar Sekou, Julian Draxler, Michel Vlap were on target – along with Gannan. Al Ahli goalkeeper Marwan Badreldin stopped the kick of Al Jazira’s Vinicius Mello while Richard Akonnor and Khalifa al-Hammadi shot wide of the target. Abdallah Ramadan, Ibrahim Adel, Wilyan Rocha were the ones to score for the hosts but in vain. Earlier, following a goalless opening half, Brazilian Vinicius Mello put Al Jazira ahead in the 48th minute after intercepting a high ball from Bruno Oliviera inside the box. Just when it seemed that the Cup was heading the hosts’ way, Al Ahli turned the tables fetching the equaliser in stoppage time (90+3 minute) with Draxler making a header into the right corner from a measured lob of Dutchman Michel Vlap from outside the striking zone. That set the tone for a pulsating shootout which moved into sudden death situation but Gannan held his composure to score as his teammates rushed in to celebrate a deserving victory. 

The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has honoured Qatar Chamber (QC) in recognition of its continuous support and co-operation, during a ceremony held as part of the authority’s celebration of World Customs Day.The certificate of honour was presented by His Excellency the Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari to Sheikha Tamader al-Thani, director of the International Relations and Chambers Affairs Department at Qatar Chamber, in the presence of Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal, chairman of the General Authority of Customs.Sheikha Tamader expressed her appreciation to the General Authority of Customs for the honour, noting that it reflects the longstanding partnership and cooperation between the two entities. She affirmed their shared commitment to supporting trade flows and enhancing the business environment in Qatar.She affirmed that the honour serves as an impetus to further develop collaboration mechanisms between both sides, thereby facilitating customs procedures, improving private-sector services, and enhancing national economic competitiveness.Sheikha Tamader also stressed that Qatar Chamber attaches great importance to strengthening co-operation with the authority, praising the authority’s pivotal role in supporting foreign trade and protecting the national economy.She also expressed her hope to expand areas of cooperation in the future in a manner that serves the interests of the business community and supports the sustainable economic development in Qatar. 

QIIB has reported a 7.2% year-on-year increase in net profit to QR1.35bn in 2025 and recommended a total 53% dividend.Earnings-per-share (EPS) increased to QR 0.82 in 2025, reflecting the lender’s ability to deliver sustainable value to its shareholders.The results demonstrate QIIB’s continued strong performance and balanced growth across all financial indicators, underpinned by the strength of the Qatari economy, efficient operational and credit policies, and commitment to global best practices in governance and risk management.Total assets amounted to QR62.6bn, representing a 4.4% yearly growth; while financing assets rose by 6.7% to QR41bn."The 2025 results underscore QIIB’s robust financial position and the success of our strategy in achieving balanced, sustainable growth," said Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani, its chairman.The board has recommended an additional 29% (QR0.29 a share) cash dividend, bringing the total dividends for the year to 53%. This recommendation remains subject to approval by the Qatar Central Bank and the general assembly of shareholders.Total deposits rose 4.6% year-on-year to QR43.3bn in 2025, reflecting customers’ growing trust in QIIB’s comprehensive Shariah-compliant banking solutions across both the retail and corporate segments."2025 was a year of qualitative achievements; we accelerated digital transformation, expanded our product suite, and solidified our presence in local capital markets," said Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei, QIIB chief executive officer.Sheikh Khalid said the bank has consistently strengthened its financial and operational indicators while maintaining high levels of efficiency and asset quality; “reinforcing the confidence of our shareholders and customers alike"."In 2025, the bank further optimised operational efficiency, achieving a cost-to-income ratio of 18.6%, among the best in the local banking sector. The bank invested heavily in technological infrastructure and expanded its mobile and internet banking services.In this regard, he highlighted that QIIB is the first bank in Qatar to launch the ‘SWIFT GPI Tracker’ on its mobile app and introduced the innovative 'Click to Pay' feature in collaboration with Visa.The bank also forged high-impact partnerships, including a strategic alliance with national carrier Qatar Airways to launch a first-of-its-kind co-branded product, allowing customers to earn ‘Avios’. Furthermore, QIIB signed a memorandum of understanding with United Development Company (UDC) to facilitate real estate financing in the 'Hazoom Lusail' project.QIIB also listed its first Sukuk on the Qatar Stock Exchange by the end of 2025, aimed at diversifying funding sources and supporting the local Islamic debt market.

The Qatar Armed Forces have concluded the Cross-Country Running Championship held at Al Bidda Park in Doha.The event featured participation from 14 teams representing various units of the Qatar Armed Forces, along with teams from the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the General Directorate of Passports, and the Police College.In the under‑40 category, the Police Academy team secured first place.The Qatar Amiri Air Force team claimed first place in the 40‑to‑50 age group, while the Lekhwiya team took first place in the over‑50 category.At the conclusion of the tournament, Military Sports Federation president Major-General Youssef Dasmal al-Kuwari presented the medals, crowned the winners, and honoured the participant with the highest turnout in the championship.
