His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, met Thursday with the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs of the Republic of South Sudan Tut Gatluak, who is visiting Qatar with an accompanying delegation.  The prime minister received a message of condolence from President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit, on the passing of late His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.  The two sides also discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand co-operation as well as several issues of mutual interest.

India and Qatar have agreed to accelerate the development of a bilateral strategic partnership through new economic pathways in technology, food security, and high-tech manufacturing, according to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. Jaishankar recently concluded his visit to Doha after reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations with His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, during which the two leaders focused on energy, trade, and investments, while identifying new mechanisms to boost economic integration between the two nations.Agriculture is also seen as one of the sectors for collaboration and joint investment. Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh earlier noted that artificial intelligence (AI) interventions could add approximately Rs70,000 crore (QR30.8bn) to India’s agricultural economy. “AI is increasingly becoming an indispensable tool for predictive crop management, precision irrigation, weather-based advisories, and efficient utilisation of agricultural resources,” stated Singh, who addressed the 17th Agriculture Leadership Conclave 2026, organised with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in New Delhi.Singh noted that the next wave of the country’s startup revolution must emerge from farms to make agriculture a major source of employment and wealth creation. During the state visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to India in February last year, Qatar expressed significant interest in investing in India’s food security and agri-logistics sectors, viewing technology-led farming as a priority for bilateral cooperation, among other strategic sectors. The Joint Working Group on Trade and Commerce has been elevated to a Ministerial-level Joint Commission to oversee the expanded strategic partnership during HH the Amir’s state visit. This institutional mechanism will review the entire spectrum of economic relations and facilitate structured investment flows, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated. The diplomatic momentum follows a commitment by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) to invest “$10bn” in India across infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and the digital economy, data from the Ministry of External Affairs also showed. During his first visit to Qatar in October 2025, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India and Qatar are likely to finalise a free trade agreement (FTA) and a Bilateral Investment Treaty by the third quarter of 2026. Goyal said he discussed the contours of the terms of reference of the FTA during a meeting with the Minister of Commerce and Industry His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal al-Thani, including plans to fast-track it to double trade and business from “$14bn” to “$30bn” by 2030. He also said investment targets for Qatari sovereign capital include banking, insurance, data centres, and AI ventures. According to Goyal, the QIA has already invested between “$4bn” and “$5bn” in Indian projects, with an additional “$1bn” to “$1.5bn” currently “in the pipeline at finalisation stages.”“They are looking at good promoters and good projects in India, and I am hopeful that our associations will certainly provide very good opportunities for investment in manufacturing and in services,” Goyal stated. Data from India’s Ministry of Statistics and Planning Implementation showed that India’s real GDP expanded 7.7% in FY2026, remaining the fastest-growing major G20 economy, which forms the core of the macroeconomic pitch to Qatari sovereign capital.Digital connectivity has also advanced with the operationalisation of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at QNB points of sale, the Ministry of External Affairs stated, adding that this fintech integration serves as a template for the internationalisation of India’s digital public infrastructure across the Gulf region. Goyal emphasised the transformative potential of UPI in strengthening bilateral trade and financial integration: “UPI is not just a technology solution, not just a digital payment solution, but has the potential to revolutionise trade between Qatar and India. It’s the celebration of India’s technology...a symbol of trust across borders.”In the manufacturing sector, Tata Electronics has emerged as a key partner for global electronics supply chains, overtaking Foxconn in iPhone export value during the current production-linked incentive period, reported the Business Standard, which also stated that Tata Electronics assembled $26.3bn worth of devices for export, compared to $25.6bn by Foxconn during the five years ending in 2026. This manufacturing shift was also highlighted as a priority sector on the India-Qatar Joint Commission’s growth list for future institutional investment during Goyal’s high level visit to Doha last year.

President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmed Al Sharaa met on Saturday with His Excellency Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi. During the meeting, HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's greetings to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic and His Highness's wishes for good health and happiness to His Excellency, as well as for enduring progress and prosperity for the government and people of Syria. For his part, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic entrusted HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with conveying his greetings to HH the Amir, wishing His Highness good health and happiness and the State of Qatar continued progress, development, and prosperity. The two sides discussed deepening and expanding bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields, along with a range of matters of shared interest.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received a phone call from the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The call discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the scope for expanding it in different fields to advance the two countries' joint interests. The call also discussed the latest regional and international developments, led by the Middle East. The two sides exchanged views on efforts to de-escalate, enhance regional security and stability, and the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to resolve urgent crises peacefully. The two sides also stressed the importance of enhancing international cooperation and coordination to advance international peace and security, maintain the security and safety of international maritime and trade routes, and enhance stability and promote development for the people of the region and the world. 

His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal al-Thani met Monday with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s ambassador to Qatar Saeed Abdullah al-Qamzi. They discussed bilateral co-operation in terms of trade, investment, and industry, in addition to touching on topics of mutual interest.  

Mauritania’s Prime Minister El Moctar Ould Djay met Qatar’s ambassador Shaheen bin Ali al-Kaabi to discuss bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting focused on co-operation between Qatar and Mauritania and explored ways to further strengthen ties across areas of mutual interest.  

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Monday with the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence, Helen McEntee, who is currently visiting the country.  They reviewed ways to support and strengthen bilateral relations and discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability in the region following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.  They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest.  Following the meeting, the prime minister attended the signing ceremony of an MoU establishing political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries.  The MoU was co-signed by His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi and McEntee.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Sunday with visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.  They discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, particularly in the economic field, along with regional developments and their impact on the global economy and energy markets, as well as several other issues of common interest.  Both sides stressed the importance of resolving disputes and conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic means, which contributes to strengthening security and stability at the regional and international levels.  They agreed to continue enhancing co-operation on a number of priority issues for Qatar and India by activating joint working mechanisms and bilateral committees between the two countries.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani received a written message from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud Sunday, pertaining to bilateral relations.  HE the prime minister received the message during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Qatar Prince Saad bin Mansour bin Saad al-Saud. Separately, the prime minister held phone calls with the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Jordan and Ghana, reviewing bilateral co-operation and the latest regional developments.  In his call with Turkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation and exchanged views on regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.  The call also touched on a number of issues of mutual concern.  The prime minister held a similar call with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, in which they discussed bilateral co-operation and ways to further strengthen ties, along with regional developments and the diplomatic push for security and stability following the US-Iran memorandum, as well as other issues of mutual interest.  The PM also fielded a call from Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Noel Barrot with the two discussing bilateral co-operation, the latest regional developments, particularly in Lebanon, and diplomatic efforts to promote security and stability in the region following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran as well as other issues of mutual interest.  He also spoke with Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, with the two reviewing bilateral co-operation and the latest regional developments, particularly efforts to promote security and stability following the US-Iran memorandum, and other matters of mutual concern.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held separate talks Saturday with visiting Libyan and Syrian officials, reaffirming Qatar's support for the unity and sovereignty of both countries.  He met Prime Minister of Libya's Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who is visiting Qatar.  They reviewed co-operation between the two countries and ways to support and develop it, and discussed the latest regional developments. The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's firm support for Libya's unity and for the Libyan people's aspirations for stability and development, along with its full backing for the Libyan political process, relevant Security Council resolutions and all peaceful solutions that preserve Libya's sovereignty.  He also met Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Asaad al-Shaibani, who is visiting the country. They reviewed bilateral co-operation and ways to enhance it, as well as the latest developments in Syria and issues of mutual concern.  The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria, and for the Syrian people's aspirations to live in dignity and build a state based on institutions and the rule of law. He also reaffirmed Qatar's support for efforts to rebuild, reconstruct and stabilise Syria. 

Her Excellency Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Singapore Stanley Loh.The meeting explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of labour market policy development, skills development and workforce training, and social protection, as well as means of further supporting and expanding cooperation.In her remarks during the meeting, HE Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to developing its labour system through the continuous modernization of legislation and policies, improving the working environment, strengthening the protection of workers' rights, investing in vocational training and professional development, and enhancing the efficiency and skills of the workforce in line with labour market developments and requirements.Her Excellency affirmed that the meeting represents an important platform for strengthening dialogue, exchanging expertise, and benefiting from successful experiences in developing labour market policies and enhancing human capital capabilities.Her Excellency also commended the Republic of Singapore's leading experience in the fields of occupational safety and health, social protection systems, skills development, and aligning education and training outcomes with labour market needs. She expressed the State of Qatar's aspiration to expand cooperation and exchange best practices between the two sides.Her Excellency further emphasised the importance of the official visit and the accompanying technical meetings in strengthening communication between the relevant authorities and opening new avenues for partnership and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in support of the shared interests of both countries. 

The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed, has signed a ‘Joint Statement on AI Opportunity’ between Qatar and the US during the Pax Silica Summit, recently held in Washington, DC.The joint statement serves as an annex to the Pax Silica Declaration signed by Qatar and the US in January this year, marking a strategic step aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in advanced technologies and supply chain security, supporting global economic stability and security, reinforcing the partnership between the two countries, and contributing to building a more resilient and sustainable economic ecosystem.The summit brought together member countries of the Pax Silica initiative. The first day was dedicated to discussions related to industry and the private sector, while the second day focused on government-related topics and ways to enhance cooperation among member countries.On the sidelines of the summit, al-Sayed held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of senior participating officials, including Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan; Saeed bin Mubarak al-Hajeri, the UAE’s Minister of State; Jacob Helberg, US Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment; and Dr Ceferino S Rodolfo, Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions at the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry.Al-Sayed also met with Chng Kai Fong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore; David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chains at the National Security Council; and Ben Black, CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation.The meetings discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment relations, expand prospects for economic cooperation, coordinate policies, explore opportunities in AI, facilitate trade exchanges, and support partnerships between business communities in a manner that serves mutual interests.Al-Sayed also met with several representatives of global companies, where the investment opportunities offered by Qatar were reviewed, alongside prospects for cooperation in priority sectors, particularly artificial intelligence and advanced technology, the digital economy, and supply chains.
