Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari held a meeting Tuesday with Sudanese ambassador Badr al-Din Abdullah Mohamed Ahmed to review co-operation relations between both countries.  Both officials also discussed Qatar-Sudan commercial and economic relations, as well as the role of the private sector in stimulating intra-regional investments and trade. Al-Kuwari lauded both nations’ “close fraternal relations”, noting that trade exchange between Qatar and Sudan recorded a growth of 16% last year, from a QR50mn increase in 2023 to QR58mn in 2024. But despite this growth, he said the volume of trade “remains below the level of ambition and the capabilities available to both countries”, which places a significant responsibility on the private sector in Qatar and Sudan to further enhance trade and investment cooperation.  For his part, Ahmed noted that Sudan is rife with investment opportunities in various sectors, such as minerals, agriculture, livestock, Arabic gum, and others, and that there are facilities for Qatari investors wishing to invest in Sudan.

His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi met Monday with Indonesia’s ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. HE al-Muraikhi extended thanks to the ambassador for his efforts in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations, wishing him success in his new duties.  

His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, met in his office at the Amiri Diwan Monday with the ambassador of the Republic of the Gambia, Foday Malang, who called to greet His Highness at the end of his tenure in the country.  HH the Deputy Amir accorded the Gambian Ambassador the Al Wajbah Decoration in recognition of his role in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations, wishing him success in his future missions and relations between the two countries further development and growth.  The ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir, and officials in the country for the co-operation he received, which contributed to the success of his tenure in the country.

Her Excellency the Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad met Thursday with Assistant Minister and Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Keiichi Iwamoto, who is visiting Qatar.  Discussions during the meeting focused on the two countries' bilateral relations and ways to bolster them, especially in the area of international co-operation. The two sides also discussed prospects of expanding humanitarian and developmental partnerships, in addition to a host of topics of mutual interest. 

Her Excellency the Minister of State for International Co-operation Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad has held talks in Doha with Malawi’s Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Joseph Mwanamvekha. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance co-operation, particularly in the areas of economic planning, sustainable development and capacity building. The two sides also discussed issues of mutual interest. 

Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani led a delegation that participated in the 136th Union of Arab Chambers (UAC) board of directors meeting held in Cairo, Egypt.Qatar Chamber board members Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli and Rashid bin Nasser al-Kaabi also attended the meeting, which discussed several topics on joint Arab action and ways to enhance trade and economic relations among Arab countries, in addition to the items on the agenda. The participants agreed to hold the next meeting in Doha, hosted by Qatar Chamber.In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa described the meeting as a pivotal platform for enhancing joint Arab action and unifying the efforts of the Arab private sector in addressing regional and global economic challenges.He also emphasised the need to strengthen Arab economic integration and develop co-operation mechanisms, which would contribute to supporting intra-Arab trade, stimulating joint investments, and raising the competitiveness of Arab economies, especially in light of the growth of global economic blocs and the rapid changes they impose.Sheikh Khalifa highlighted that the Arab private sector is receiving considerable attention from the governments, underscoring the importance of enhancing its role in implementing economic initiatives, fostering an attractive investment environment, strengthening partnerships among Arab businesspeople, and supporting economic diversification, which in turn positively impacts growth rates and economic stability in Arab countries.He highlighted the importance of strengthening the presence of Arab companies in regional and international markets through joint co-ordination, organising trade missions, participating in international exhibitions, and benefiting from existing economic agreements.Sheikh Khalifa also emphasised the Qatar Chamber’s commitment to continuing its support for the UAC's efforts and working closely with member chambers to foster economic cooperation and enable the Arab private sector to play its anticipated role in a manner that achieves common interests and serves comprehensive development goals across the Arab region. 

The Ministry of Municipality announced the arrival of two Asian elephants at Al Khor Park. The elephants are a gift from the government and people of Nepal, which embodies the depth of bilateral relations and the bonds of friendship and co-operation.The ministry said the male elephant, Khagendra Pradsad, is six years old and weighs 1,190kg, while the female, Rudra Kali, is seven years old and weighs 1,200kg. They were born and bred in the Elephant Breeding and Training Centre, Sauraha, Chitwan National Park, Nepal.The couple were seen off from Chitwan National Park on December 17, according to a The Himalayan Times report. The paper cited Dr Haribhadra Acharya, Information officer at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, who said the calves would be transported to Qatar via a chartered cargo plane from Bhairahawa International Airport. The preparations were underway to move the calves from Sauraha to Bhairahawa a day earlier to meet the flight schedule and road conditions.**media[396061]**According to Acharya, two mahouts are accompanying the elephants under the supervision of park animal technician Dinesh Dhakal, who will return to Nepal after ensuring the proper management of the elephants. Nepal has previously gifted elephants to friendly nations as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and highlight the country's biodiversity internationally.The Elephant Breeding and Training Centre initially received 16 elephants from India, two from Myanmar, and two from Thailand. To date, the centre has bred and raised 68 elephants, six of which have died, while 61 have undergone formal training.The decision to gift elephants to Qatar was first announced during the official visit of then Nepal president Bidya Devi Bhandari in 2018. The ministry explained, via X, that the public can visit the Asian elephants at the Al Khor Park by booking through the Aoun app or the ministry's website. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Wednesday in his office at Lusail Palace with US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, and her accompanying delegation, visiting the country. They discussed the strategic bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them as well as a number of issues and topics of common concern.

His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanem met separately Tuesday with ambassador of Iraq Mohammed Jaafar al-Sadr, ambassador of Indonesia Ridwan Hassan, and ambassador of Kazakhstan Arman Issagaliyev.**media[394489]**The meetings discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and each of Iraq, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan, and explored ways to enhance them, particularly in areas related to parliamentary co-operation.  

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met in Washington Tuesday with members of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. The meeting discussed close strategic relations between Qatar and the United States of America and ways to support and develop them. It also discussed a number of top of common concern.  

His Excellency the Shura Council Speaker, Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim, met Sunday with Italian ambassador Paolo Toschi. The meeting discussed bilateral relations, particularly parliamentary co-operation and ways to support and develop it.  

His Excellency the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi met in Kuwait Karim Badawy, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Discussions during the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 115th Ministerial Council meeting of the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), dealt with energy relations and co-operation between Qatar and Egypt and means to enhance them.
