His Excellency the Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari met in Paris with chief executives of major French companies that are members of the Qatar-France Economic Association (Qadran), during a roundtable organised by the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the French Republic.During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to strengthen the framework of joint co-operation and further consolidate bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the French Republic, in addition to reviewing key investment opportunities and economic developments of mutual interest.The meeting also discussed the importance of enhancing economic partnerships between both sides in a manner that supports investment growth and broadens prospects for co-operation between Qatari and French institutions.Qadran is an independent non-profit organisation established in 2015. Its membership includes leading Qatari commercial institutions operating in France, alongside major French companies operating in the State of Qatar and influential economic figures.The organisation aims to host annual academic and social events that promote dialogue and the exchange of perspectives between Qatari and French companies, providing a platform for multilateral economic discussions among senior officials and decision-makers. 

Al Faisal Holding, one of the largest diversified private groups in Qatar and the region, held a recognition ceremony for Ahmed Al Neama in appreciation of his nearly 20-year professional career and his significant contributions throughout his tenure with the group.During his service, he led several key functions, including human resources, procurement, and corporate relations, playing an active role in supporting the company’s progress and enhancing its institutional work environment.The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, chairman of Al Faisal Holding, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal al-Thani, vice chairman, alongside a number of senior executives and employees of the group.During the event, HE Sheikh Faisal expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to al-Neama for his dedication and commitment over the years, commending his role in developing several departments and strengthening the corporate culture within the group.He also emphasised that human capital represents the cornerstone of organisational success and sustainability, and that distinguished Qatari professionals constitute a true asset in the journey of any institution striving for growth and excellence.For his part, HE Sheikh Mohammed expressed his appreciation for al-Neama’s contributions, wishing him continued success, and noting that his professional and human impact will remain highly valued and respected by all.The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque by the chairman and vice chairman to al-Neama, in an atmosphere of appreciation and gratitude from the Al Faisal Holding team, celebrating a career marked by dedication, commitment, and excellence. 

His Excellency the Chairman of the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC), Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer al-Thani, met Wednesday with Pakistani ambassador to Qatar, Muhammad Aamer. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in the media sector.  

Malaysia and Qatar are exploring deeper strategic alignment beyond energy and diplomacy to encompass investment, digital infrastructure, and economic diversification, amid shifts in global trade patterns and inter-regional partnerships.“Ultimately, Malaysia can position itself as a gateway to Asean, while Qatar serves as a gateway to the Middle East, creating a complementary and mutually beneficial partnership,” Malaysian ambassador Faizal Razali told Gulf Times in an exclusive interview.Razali described Qatar’s foreign policy as “pragmatic and diversification-driven,” underpinned by stability-enhancing diplomacy and a preference for maintaining open channels with multiple global actors, which he said, reinforces its image as “a reliable partner for trade and investment.”The ambassador lauded Qatar for actively pursuing economic diplomacy to widen market access, attract capital, and build future sectors, such as technology, sustainability, logistics, and advanced services.He further noted that Qatar is also moving into new sectors, particularly AI and innovative industries, with projects being reactivated and resumed and a clear push to bring in fresh investment.Razali said as Qatar continues to seek opportunities to expand its export reach within the Middle East, partners such as Malaysia are well-placed to support this growth, particularly by contributing capabilities in areas that deepen the country’s industrial and commercial ecosystem.Qatar’s continued growth in its business ecosystem and industrial capability presents an opportunity for partners such as Malaysia to contribute meaningfully, particularly in areas where complementary strengths can add value, he pointed out.The ambassador further noted that Qatar remains highly attractive in terms of quality of life, particularly for families and expatriates, describing the environment as safe, stable, and welcoming, factors that make it a preferred destination for foreign professionals.He said existing platforms such as the Joint Business Council (JBC) and Malaysia-Qatar business linkages provide a foundation that both sides should further activate and utilise, and called for a more structured Malaysia-Qatar task force or engagement platform, particularly in key sectors, to drive cooperation more effectively.Companies from both countries should be encouraged to work more closely together, with Malaysia serving as a bridge into Asean markets and Qatar acting as a gateway into the Middle East, he said.On the role of Malaysia’s embassy in facilitating bilateral business, the ambassador said the mission has established the Malaysia Business Executive Council (MBEC) to strengthen the Malaysian business community in Qatar and serve as a platform for coordinating engagements and identifying opportunities.He said the embassy has facilitated high-level meetings with key Qatari stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed, Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), and Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, while also leveraging Asean-related engagements where relevant.The embassy is also encouraging the MBEC to engage with other business councils, including those representing India and Bangladesh, to broaden regional networks and expand collaboration opportunities, he noted.The ambassador said the embassy is promoting Malaysian participation in key trade fairs and exhibitions in Qatar, organising sector-focused trade missions targeting high-potential industries, such as halal, food security, and the digital economy.Among the flagship events being promoted are the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) and Visit Malaysia 2026, he noted, adding that the embassy is also engaging Qatar Post to facilitate e-commerce linkages and leveraging Malaysia’s network of 11 e-commerce hubs to support bilateral trade.There are currently 37 Malaysian companies operating in Qatar, the ambassador said, spanning a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, ICT, and services.He said doing business in Qatar has matured well beyond an exploratory stage, with the Qatar brand, built on its unique environment, strategic position as an important hub, and the breadth of opportunities available, remaining highly credible and appealing to the Malaysian business community.“Malaysia’s strong brand, particularly in terms of quality, reliability and capability, remains an important asset in Qatar. There is an opportunity for Qatar to further open up and provide greater exposure to Malaysian businesses to expand their presence,” he emphasised.Addressing both nations directly, Razali said Qatar should be seen not only as an energy partner but as a strategic investment and collaboration destination, while Malaysia offers stability, trustworthiness, and strong capabilities across multiple sectors.“The synergy between both countries can be strengthened further, particularly through deeper economic engagement. For both, the world is looking for stability, but stability without growth is dead. Malaysia is not looking just for investment; we are looking for partners, and Qatar has been one.” Razali added. 

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani Monday held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Farhan bin Abdullah al-Saud.The two sides touched on bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them. They also discussed developments in the region, particularly those related to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and efforts aimed at de-escalation to enhance security and stability in the region.The prime minister stressed the need for all parties to engage with the ongoing mediation efforts in a way that paves the way for addressing the root causes of the crisis via dialogue and peaceful means, through to reaching a sustainable agreement that prevents re-ignition of the crisis.The prime minister also received a phone call from Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelaaty.The two sides touched on bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them. They also discussed developments in the region, particularly those related to the ceasefire between the US and Iran, and efforts aimed at de-escalation to enhance security and stability in the region.The prime minister underscored the need for all parties to engage with the ongoing mediation efforts to pave the way for addressing the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue. 

His Excellency Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim met Wednesday with ambassador of Canada to Qatar Karim Morcos. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, particularly in the parliamentary field. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the region. HE the Speaker stressed the gravity of Iran's attacks against Qatar and neighbouring countries, and the threat they pose to the region's security and stability. He emphasized the necessity of halting escalation and resorting to peaceful solutions and dialogue. In this context, al-Ghanim expressed his appreciation for Canada's supportive stance towards the State of Qatar and its condemnation of these attacks, which reflects a commitment to the principles of international law and support for international peace and security. For his part, the Canadian ambassador expressed his gratitude for the level of bilateral relations, affirming his country's keenness to develop them and enhance joint co-operation in various fields, including strategic dialogue and parliamentary coordination. At the same time, Morcos highlighted Canada's supportive stance towards Qatar, and its keenness to communicate and coordinate at high levels, reflecting the country's solidarity and commitment to supporting the security and stability of the region. 

Cote d'Ivoire’s Prime Minister Robert Beugre Mambe has met Qatar’s ambassador to the country Mubarak bin Hussein al-Marri. During their meeting, both sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to enhance co-operation between Qatar and Cote d'Ivoire.  

The US flag was raised above its embassy in Venezuela Saturday for the first time in seven years, following the US capture of authoritarian leader Nicolas Maduro and the restoration of diplomatic relations."A new era has begun. We're staying with Venezuela," the US charge d'affaires Laura Dogu, the embassy's most senior diplomat, wrote in a post on X with a photo of the Stars and Stripes being raised outside the embassy.Dogu wrote that she and her team raised the flag "exactly seven years after it was removed" on March 14, 2019, two months after Caracas severed ties over Washington's refusal to recognise Maduro's flawed re-election in 2018.Earlier this month, the United States and Venezuela restored diplomatic ties amid a rapid thaw in relations since the US special forces raid in January that left around 100 people dead and saw Maduro and his wife flown to New York for trial on drug trafficking charges.US President Donald Trump's administration says it effectively runs Venezuela and controls the country's vast natural resources after toppling Maduro.Trump and Venezuela's interim leader Delcy Rodriguez, formerly Maduro's deputy, have signed energy and mining agreements that open the door to private investment and US access to what are the world's largest oil reserves.On Friday, Rodriguez urged Trump to totally lift the sanctions imposed on her country.Since January, the United States has eased a seven-year-old oil embargo on Venezuela and issued licences allowing a handful of multinationals to operate in the country under certain conditions. 

His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi met Wednesday with Portuguese ambassador to Qatar Paulo Neves Pocinho, on the end of his tenure. HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs thanked the ambassador for his efforts in supporting and strengthening bilateral relations, wishing him success in his new duties. 

Vice President of Tanzania Emmanuel John Nchimbi met Saturday with Qatar's ambassador to Tanzania Fahad Rashid al-Muraikhi. The meeting discussed bilateral relations.  

A delegation from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has returned to Doha with renewed optimism, seeking to strengthen trade ties with Qatar in the food and personal care sectors.Led by Bianca Pearl R Sykimte, director of the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), the delegation met with Qatar Chamber Monday as part of the DTI-EMB’s Outbound Business Matching Mission (OBMM) in the GCC.The delegation, who was accompanied by Philippine ambassador Mardomel Celo D Melicor and First Secretary and Consul General Cassandra B Sawadjaan, was received by Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman Mohammed bin Towar al-Kuwari, in the presence of other officials and Qatari businessmen.Speaking at the meeting, Melicor lauded the chamber’s role in fostering commercial linkages and highlighted the momentum in bilateral relations. The ambassador emphasised that the Philippines views Qatar as “a valued partner in the Gulf,” with recent years marked by landmark agreements and historic engagements, particularly during the state visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the Philippines in 2024.Melicor also pointed to the success of the first ‘Qatar-Philippines Business Forum’ held in November 2025 and the earlier OBMM in February 2025, “which delivered the highest trade engagement among Gulf destinations.” The ambassador said, “The message is clear, opportunities are here, and real, they are growing.”This year’s OBMM, according to Melicor, opens avenues for networking and access to global markets to leading companies specialising in food and personal care products to Qatar.“Our objective is straightforward: to transform interest into lasting commercial partnerships. We hope to see more Filipino products reach Qatari shelves and households,” Melicor pointed out.He emphasised that these enterprises embody the quality, creativity, and reliability of Philippine manufacturing, and underscored the potential for collaboration beyond consumer goods, including agriculture, food security, renewable energy, healthcare, and digital transformation.For his part, al-Kuwari emphasised the distinguished relations between Qatar and the Philippines, noting that the volume of trade exchange reached nearly QR674mn in 2024, reflecting the steady growth of bilateral economic ties.He said Qatar Chamber views the Philippines as a key economic partner in Southeast Asia and commended the active contributions of the Filipino community to Qatar’s development.Al-Kuwari affirmed the chamber’s commitment to enhancing co-operation between the business communities of both countries and opening new horizons for joint investments that serve mutual interests.He also called on Qatari and Filipino companies to explore partnership opportunities for joint projects across various sectors, particularly in food security and personal care products.Sykimte delivered a presentation highlighting investment opportunities, the business climate, and key Philippine food products targeted for the Qatari market, while a representative from Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health gave an overview of the food hygiene sector and the rigorous food safety verification processes required for imports. 

The Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, has held talks with His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, in Kuwait.  During the meeting Sunday, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, along with his wishes for good health and happiness to the Amir of Kuwait, and continued progress and prosperity for the people of Kuwait. **media[414249]**In response, the Amir of Kuwait asked HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to pass on his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, expressing his wishes for HH the Amir's good health and happiness, and for further development and growth for the people of Qatar.  The talks included a review of relations between Kuwait and Qatar and ways to strengthen and expand co-operation. The two sides also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest. Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah met with HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani. Discussions during the meeting focused on advancing bilateral co-operation between the two countries, as well as on a variety of topics of mutual interest.
