His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received Tuesday a telephone call from President Donald Trump of the United States of America.
During the call, they reviewed the latest regional developments, in particular the efforts to de-escalate between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and to bring them closer together, thus enhancing the chances of a sustainable diplomatic settlement to the crisis.
The US President praised the role played by the State of Qatar under the leadership of His Highness the Amir in supporting diplomatic efforts and facilitating dialogue between the parties, thus contributing to enhancing security and stability in the region.
For his part, the Amir stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and adopting diplomatic means to address controversial issues, and the need for all parties to abide by what was agreed upon within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, and to support international initiatives aimed at containing tensions, thus contributing to the consolidation of peace and security at the regional and international levels.
The two sides also discussed a number of issues of common interest and stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on regional and international developments to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
