HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held a phone call with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the call, relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them were reviewed. They also discussed the latest developments in the region as well as Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at reducing escalation in a way that contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.
HE the Prime Minister expressed Qatar’s appreciation for Pakistan and other parties for their mediation and good offices that contributed to reaching a ceasefire between the US and Iran.
He also affirmed Qatar’s full support for the Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at ending the crisis through peaceful means, stressing the need for all parties to respond to these efforts in order to create the appropriate conditions for progress in the negotiations, leading to a comprehensive agreement that achieves sustainable peace in the region.
The Prime Minister also held a phone call with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud.
The two sides reviewed bilateral co-operation and ways to enhance it besides regional developments, particularly those related to the ceasefire as well as efforts aimed at de-escalation to support security and stability in the region.

During the phone call, the PM discussed efforts aimed at achieving peace and promoting security and stability in the region.
He also affirmed Qatar’s full support for mediation efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through peaceful means, stressing the need for all parties to respond to these efforts in a way that contributes to creating the appropriate conditions for progress in negotiations and limits the possibilities of renewed escalation.
HE Sheikh Mohammed also stressed that freedom of navigation is a well-established principle that must not be compromised, and that closing the Strait of Hormuz or using it as a pressure card would only lead to deepening the crisis and exposing the vital interests of the region’s countries to danger. Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the drone attack that targeted a commercial cargo ship en route from Abu Dhabi while sailing in Qatar’s territorial waters northeast of Mesaieed Port yesterday morning, resulting in a small fire on board and no reported injuries.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a blatant violation of the principle of freedom of navigation and the provisions of international law. It also characterised the attack as a dangerous and unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and safety of maritime trade routes and vital supplies in the region.
The ministry emphasised that targeting commercial and civilian vessels, regardless of the perpetrator, constitutes a grave breach of international law and poses a direct threat to regional and international security and stability.
The ministry explained that Qatar is closely monitoring developments in the incident in co-ordination with relevant authorities and regional and international partners, and affirms that the competent authorities will take the necessary measures to investigate the circumstances of the incident and determine responsibility, To Page 6
The statement further reiterated Qatar’s firm position that the security of maritime navigation and freedom of passage in international waterways are a fundamental pillar of security and stability, and they must not be compromised under any circumstances.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defence announced that a commercial cargo vessel in the country’s territorial waters-northeast of Mesaieed Port-coming from Abu Dhabi, was targeted by a drone last morning.
The incident resulted in a limited fire onboard the vessel, with no reported injuries, the Ministry said in a statement on X.
The vessel continued its journey toward Mesaieed Port after the fire was brought under control, the ministry said, stressing that the necessary measures were taken, and coordination was carried out with the relevant authorities.
