His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived Tuesday in Kathmandu on a state visit to friendly Nepal within a tour that included the Republic of the Philippines and the People's Republic of Bangladesh.His Highness the Amir was welcomed upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport by the President of Nepal Ram Chandra Poudel.His Highness the Amir was also welcomed by the Vice-President Ram Sahaya Yadav, the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Shrestha, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur, HE the ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nepal Mishaal bin Mohammad Al Ansari, the ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar Dr. Naresh Bikram Dhakal, a number of senior officials in the Government of Nepal, and members of Qatar's Embassy.His Highness the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony upon arrival, during which 21 artillery shots were fired to welcome His Highness.His Highness the Amir is accompanied by an official delegation.

Six months of bloodshed: The toll on Gaza’s children

The bloodiest ever Gaza war which broke out over six months ago has taken an appalling toll on children. NGO Save the Children estimates that some 26,000 children have been killed or injured in the war, 17,000 have been orphaned, according to UNICEF, and 1 in 3 children under two years old in northern Gaza is suffering from acute malnutrition. In total, at least 33,207 people have been killed in the besieged Palestinian territory in Israel's retaliatory campaign for the October 7 attack, according to Hamas-run Gaza's health ministry. The unprecedented Hamas raid on southern Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,170 Israelis and foreigners, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures. AFP

Gazans struggle to secure flour for daily bread

Amir, Prime Minister of Bangladesh hold official talks

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Prime Minister of the friendly People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajed held a session of official talks at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka on Tuesday.At the outset of the session, HE the Prime Minister of Bangladesh welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation; praising the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries spanning over nearly 50 years, and HH the Amir's visit which is significant to enhancing the relations between the two friendly countries. HE the Prime Minister also applauded the role carried out by the State of Qatar in resolving conflicts in the region.For his part, HH the Amir expressed his appreciation to HE the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to His Highness and the accompanying delegation during the visit which offers an opportunity to discuss issues of common concern, and means of bolstering the bilateral relations in various fields; aspiring for the outcome of the visit to contribute to elevating the bilateral cooperation to the desired level. HH the Amir also expressed appreciation for the role of the Bangladeshi community in the State of Qatar, and its effective contribution to several development areas in the State.The talks addressed aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways of enhancing and promoting them, in addition to the most prominent regional and international issues of common concern, mainly the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip.HH the Amir and HE the Prime Minister of Bangladesh held earlier a bilateral meeting, and discussed a host of issues of common concern.The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.On Bangladesh's side, the session was attended by HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hasan Mahmud, HE Minister of Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan, HE Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Muhammad Faruk Khan, HE Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman, HE State Minister for Finance Waseqa Ayesha Khan, HE State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu, HE State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury, and HE State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu, and a number of high-ranking officials.
