Live performances from local and regional acts thrilled crowds of youths at the Run the World Festival
Thousands of people flocked to the Katara Cultural Village during the weekend to enjoy live music, dance and other performances by over 200 local and international youth at the Run the World National Youth Festival.
The festival was held as part of the Qatar National Day celebrations with special cultural performances and a human flag, as well as more music, dance and street performances from local and regional youth.
The party on the beach is the culmination of a week of activities and events for Qatar’s youth, including photo exhibitions, short film competitions and a Run the World Youth Conference promoting youth development, engagement and sports.
Young people at Katara’s beach were able to watch and take part in a variety of activities including human foosball, volleyball, skateboarding, parkour, street music and dance performances, graffiti art, a talent show and a marathon.
The festival was designed to promote key themes of celebrating other cultures, civic engagement, promoting fitness, sports and healthy lifestyles, and was sponsored by fitness and medical companies.

The focus on sports and physical health was emphasised with activities like volleyball and human foosball

The Youth Company, a venture set up especially to promote development and entertainment for Qatar’s youth, is hoping to make this an annual festival and build a sustainable platform for future events and opportunities.
Most of the organisers and volunteers at the festival were in fact high school students, with a number of them saying that they have learned a lot from this valuable experience and are looking forward to similar events.
