GCC welcomes reaching ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the agreement reached regarding the Gaza Strip, which aims to implement the first step of US President Donald Trump's initiative to achieve a ceasefire and initiate a process leading to a comprehensive and lasting truce. Secretary General of the GCC Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi praised the significant efforts made by US President Donald Trump and the constructive support provided by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Turkiye, to achieve this agreement through a diligent diplomatic path and continuous coordination. Albudaiw stressed that this step represents a new hope for alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and paving the way to address the tragic conditions experienced by civilians, particularly concerning the provision of medical and food aid and ensuring the safe and sustainable flow of humanitarian support. GCC Secretary General underscored the necessity for this stage to be the beginning of a clear political path that leads to the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the restoration of security and stability, and the resumption of international efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive solution on the basis of the two-state solution. "This path must also enable the Palestinian people to realise their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and United Nations resolutions," he concluded.

Lebanese President welcomes initial phase of Gaza peace plan agreement

Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun welcomed the agreement reached between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in its first phase, aimed at ending the war on the Gaza Strip. In a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, President Aoun expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a first step toward a permanent ceasefire and the alleviation of the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of sustained international and regional efforts to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the region—one that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative adopted at the Beirut Arab Summit in 2002. President Aoun also expressed hope that Israel would respond positively to calls from Arab and international leaders to halt its aggressive policies in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, in order to create the necessary conditions for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace that would ensure stability in the Middle East.

UN Secretary General calls for full commitment to Gaza agreement and praises mediators' efforts

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the signing of the first phase of the peace plan by Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), praising at the same time the efforts of the mediators. In a statement on social media platform X, Guterres said, "I welcome the announcement of an agreement to secure a ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza, based on the proposal put forward by [US President Donald Trump]. I commend the diplomatic efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt & Turkiye in brokering this desperately needed breakthrough." He urged all parties to "seize this momentous opportunity" and "abide fully by the terms of the agreement." He stressed the need to ensure immediate and unhindered access to humanitarian supplies and essential commercial goods into Gaza. Guterres concluded his statement by saying, "I urge all stakeholders to seize this momentous opportunity to establish a credible political path forward towards ending the occupation, recognizing the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, leading to a two-state solution to enable Israelis & Palestinians to live in peace and security."

China affirms support for efforts to reduce tensions in Middle East

China has welcomed and expressed support for all efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said during a press conference, commenting on a plan proposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza, that China welcomes and supports all efforts aimed at easing tensions between Palestine and Israel. He added that China calls on all relevant parties to earnestly implement relevant UN resolutions, achieve a complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip immediately, release all detainees, and alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip as soon as possible. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that his country supports the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" and supports the implementation of the two-state solution. He added that China is ready to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts to achieve an early, comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement to the Palestinian cause.

HH the Amir was welcomed upon arrival at Marka International Airport by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.Also, present were Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Al Safadi, President of the Judicial Council Mahmoud Ababneh, President of the Constitutional Court Mohammad Ghazou, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al Safadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al-Thani and Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Qatar Zaid Mufleh Al Lawzi, along with a number of Their Excellencies members of the government, ranking civilian and military officials, and members of the Qatari Embassy.HH the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony upon his arrival.His Highness the Amir is accompanied by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and an official delegation.Four F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force escorted HH the Amir's plane as it entered Jordanian airspace, and artillery fired 21 rounds to welcome His Highness' visit.
