His Excellency Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held a series of phone calls with regional and international counterparts Monday to discuss the military escalation in the region and offer condolences over the deaths of Qatari service members.His counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Egypt all conveyed their nations' condolences over the loss of Qatar Armed Forces personnel in a helicopter crash in Qatari territorial waters, caused by a technical malfunction during a routine mission. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan similarly extended condolences, as the crash also claimed the lives of members of Qatar-Türkiye joint forces and two Turkish civilian collaborators.In all calls, the parties discussed the dangerous trajectory of military escalation in the region and its repercussions for regional and international security. They jointly stressed the urgency of halting escalatory actions, returning to dialogue, and prioritizing diplomacy to contain the crisis — with particular emphasis on safeguarding global energy security, freedom of navigation, environmental safety, and regional stability.The prime minister also spoke with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, in a call that touched on the same regional tensions but went further in addressing Iran's role directly. He condemned Iranian attacks on Qatari territory in unequivocal terms, stating they "cannot be accepted under any justification or pretence." He stressed that Iran's targeting of energy facilities constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a serious threat to global energy security and the environment — particularly notable given Qatar's longstanding efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community.Kallas echoed the call for de-escalation and urged a return to negotiations and diplomatic channels to prevent further instability.Across all conversations, a common thread emerged: the need for immediate coordinated action to pull the region back from the brink, with dialogue and reason taking precedence over military confrontation.

His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Sunday with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr Badr Abdelatty.**media[426392]**The meeting addressed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, along with ways to resolve all disputes peacefully.It also discussed strengthening Arab co-ordination to confront current challenges.During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Qatar’s territory, and that they are unacceptable under any pretext or justification, noting that Qatar has always been keen to stay away from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community.Dr Abdelatty called for de-escalation, reason to prevail, and a return to negotiations and diplomatic means to avoid further chaos.His Excellency the Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi meanwhile received a telephone call Sunday from China’s special envoy Zhai Jun.During the call, they discussed regional developments and ways to resolve all disputes peacefully.Zhai expressed his country's solidarity with Qatar.  

His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi received a telephone call from Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Oana Toiu.The call discussed the developments in military escalation and their menacing consequences on regional and global security and stability, as well as ways to resolve disputes through peaceful means.HE al-Muraikhi stressed that the Iranian assault on Qatari territory amounts to a gross violation of its national sovereignty, runs contrary to the principles of good neighbourliness, and can never be accepted under any justification or pretext. Qatar has always been committed to refraining from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community. However, the renewal of targeting its territory doesn’t indicate good faith and imperils the groundwork for understandings that overtly underpin the bilateral relationship between the two nations, he underlined.HE al-Muraikhi further stressed the importance of the immediate cessation of any escalatory acts, returning to the negotiating table, and giving the language of reason and judiciousness overriding priority, as well as working to contain the crisis to protect the region's security. For her part, Toiu emphasised that Romania condemns the Iranian attack on Qatari territory as a flagrant violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the UN Charter.  

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr Majid al-Ansari has said Qatar is a party to communications aimed at de-escalating regional tensions and resolving the dispute between Washington and Tehran. He emphasised that "diplomacy is the effective way to resolve the region's crises, and we are working on this with our neighbours and partners."Speaking at the weekly press briefing Tuesday, al-Ansari added, "We are not talking about war at the moment, but rather expectations of a possible military escalation in the region, and we are striving for de-escalation."Regarding Gaza Strip developments, al-Ansari described the situation as an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe. He affirmed that Qatar is working with mediators to advance the second phase of the Gaza agreement, reiterating his country's rejection of linking the agreement to the opening of the Rafah crossing and aid entry, which must proceed without conditions.He pointed out that humanitarian aid cannot be used as a pressure tactic and that the international community must fulfil its responsibilities. "We do not expect timetables regarding Gaza, but our contacts are continuous and daily to push the agreement forward. The complexities on the table call for progress towards the second phase, and Israel must answer why implementation is being delayed," he added.Al-Ansari made it clear that mediators are in daily contact to advance the political process and move towards the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. He described the humanitarian disaster in Gaza as not a weather event, but a man-made catastrophe created by the Israeli occupation, which continues efforts to prolong the disaster on the largest possible scale and inflict maximum harm on Palestinians.When asked what was hindering progress towards the second phase and why Israel wasn't implementing it, he said Israel must answer these questions. He explained that Israel is creating obstacles and complications, asserting that Israel doesn't want to reach the second phase in any way.He emphasised that Israel is obstructing progress that would end the crisis, asking why Israel doesn't open the Rafah crossing. Al-Ansari stressed that humanitarian aid and ending the catastrophe should not be linked to ceasefire implementation and the second phase.He indicated that after Israeli prisoners and bodies were returned to their families, Israel is now creating obstacles to further advance the agreement and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
