QIIB appoints Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah al-Thani as Human Resources head

QIIB has announced the appointment of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah al-Thani as head of Human Resources, in line with the bank’s strategy to empower Qatari talent and strengthen their presence across key areas of the banking sector. The move reflects QIIB’s alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, which places strong emphasis on investing in human capital and developing national leadership. The appointment comes as part of QIIB’s ongoing efforts to develop its human resources framework further, enhance its efficiency, and strengthen its role as a strategic partner in achieving the bank’s operational and developmental goals, particularly in the areas of Qatarisation, capacity building, and institutional performance sustainability. Sheikh Ali brings with him a strong academic and professional background. He holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Finance and Investment Management from Northumbria University in Newcastle, and has gained practical experience in investment, human resources, and general management, equipping him well to take on his new role with confidence and competence. Commenting on the appointment, Ali Hamad al-Mesaifri, head of Human Resources and Administration at QIIB, stated: “The appointment of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah al-Thani as head of Human Resources reflects QIIB’s strong and ongoing commitment to empowering qualified Qatari talent and entrusting leadership roles to capable young professionals, an approach that directly supports the bank’s strategic objectives. “The Human Resources Department plays a vital role in supporting institutional performance, fostering a culture of excellence, and developing human capital. We are confident that Sheikh Ali’s competence and professionalism will contribute significantly to advancing the bank’s HR policies and practices, enhancing its ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent in line with QIIB’s vision and plans.” He added: “This appointment falls in line with QIIB’s human resources strategy, which is fully aligned with government directives, the plans of the Ministry of Labour, and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly the goal of developing national talent capable of leading the banking sector in the future.” For his part, Sheikh Ali expressed his pleasure in joining the QIIB team: “I am delighted to join QIIB, a leading national banking institution. I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the bank’s management for their trust, an honour I consider a great responsibility and a strong motivation to work with dedication and commitment. “I look forward to contributing to the development of QIIB’s human resources framework and working closely with the team to achieve the department’s objectives. Our aim is to foster a motivating and excellence-driven work environment, one that positively impacts employee performance and supports the bank’s strategic goals.”

New batch of experts take legal oath at Ministry of Justice

A new batch of experts took the legal oath this morning at the Ministry of Justice to be registered in the Ministry of Justice's roster of experts accredited before the judicial authorities in the country, in accordance with the regulations stipulated in Law No. (16) of 2017 regulating expert work. The new batch includes (12) experts from national cadres, with expertise in various specializations, including accounting, real estate, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mining engineering, civil engineering, and human resources. On this occasion, Director of the Experts Department at the Ministry of Justice, Abdullah Abu Shahab Al Marri congratulated the new experts on their taking of the legal oath. He emphasized the importance of the role of experts as assistants to judges and one of the pillars of achieving prompt justice, based on their legal responsibility to present evidence and proof regarding the technical aspects related to various cases, and the role expert reports play in expediting the issuance of judgments and the adjudication of cases. The Director of the Experts Department at the Ministry of Justice noted that the Ministry of Justice, upon the directives of His Excellency Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, is keen to strengthen the national cadre of experts and provide expertise that keeps pace with the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the country in all fields, and to create the appropriate conditions for providing an integrated Qatari expertise system and adding new areas of expertise according to the needs of the judicial authorities and other entities.

Amir amends 2 laws to enhance work efficiency

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued on Tuesday Law No. 25 of 2025 amending some provisions of the Civil Human Resources Law issued by Law No. 15 of 2016.His Highness also ratified Cabinet Decision No. 34 of 2025 amending some provisions of the executive regulations of the Civil Human Resources Law issued by Cabinet Decision No. 32 of 2016.The amendments include additional incentives and benefits that encourage excellence and aim to enhance the government work environment. They link rewards to performance levels and emphasise the state's drive to enhance work efficiency and the leadership of government institutions, recognise contributions and achievements, encourage innovation and initiative, and promote the principles of responsibility and accountability. This is in line with the state's strategies for investing in human capital and enabling it to engage and interact with a knowledge-based and competitive economy in a way that serves the public interest, benefits society, and enhances the state's position as a leading model in administrative modernisation and human development.The amendments also included specific incentives that contribute to achieving a balance between the demands of work and family life, embodying the commitment to supporting family stability as the bedrock of building a cohesive society and a key driver for advancing sustainable development. This will enhance the implementation of Qatar National Vision 2030 and align with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.Both the law and the decision are effective from the date of their issuance, and to be published in the Official Gazette.
