On behalf of the Amir, PM attends 46th GCC Summit in Bahrain

On behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani participated, alongside Their Highnesses, the leaders and heads of delegations of the sisterly Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, in the 46th Ordinary Session of the GCC Summit, convened in Manama, Bahrain, Wednesday.The session was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies members of the accompanying official delegations, and the summit guests.His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani also participated in the second working session of the 46th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Manama, in the presence of Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni, the summit's guest of honour.During the session, discussions focused on ways to support and develop the historical friendship and close strategic partnership between the GCC states and the Italian Republic, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation and joint action in various fields to achieve mutual interests and benefits for both sides.

Qatar participates in the 26th meeting of the Arab Technical Committee for Environment in Mauritania

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, participated in the work of the 26th meeting of the Technical Committee for Environment, affiliated with the Council of Arab Ministers in Charge of Environmental Affairs, held in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.The meeting was part of the ongoing preparations for the 36th session of the Council of Arab Ministers and Heads of Environmental Authorities, scheduled for Oct. 30 in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, with the participation of delegations representing member states and regional and international organizations concerned with environmental issues.The technical meeting discussed the follow-up on the implementation of the decisions issued by the Council of Arab Ministers in Charge of Environmental Affairs in its previous sessions, and reviewed joint Arab initiatives in the areas of environmental protection and sustainable development, which constituted an important milestone in the course of joint Arab environmental action.The meeting was an opportunity to coordinate positions and visions in preparation for upcoming international environmental agreements, particularly the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) and the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled to be held in Belem, Brazil.

China, US begin economic and trade talks

Chinese and US delegations convened in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday for talks on economic and trade issues, according to Xinhua news agency.China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that both sides would hold consultations on key matters concerning China-US economic and trade relations, in line with the important consensus reached between the two heads of state during their phone calls earlier this year.The Chinese delegation was led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, accompanied by Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang and Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min. The US delegation was headed by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.Bessent and He Lifeng are negotiating to ease the recently escalated trade measures imposed by both countries on each other. The discussions are also expected to lay the groundwork for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled for next Thursday on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea.

Qatar’s ICAO Mission holds reception for delegates

Sponsored and attended by Minister of Transport His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar’s Permanent Mission to the International Civil Aviation Organization has held a reception for the delegations of ICAO’s Member States, on the sidelines of the 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly.The ICAO Council President H.E. Salvatore Sciacchitano, ICAO Secretary General H.E. Juan Carlos Salazar, several ministers, heads and representatives of Member States’ delegations, and several accredited ambassadors in Canada, were also in attendance.In his remarks, H.E. the Minister welcomed the attendees, and thanked the ICAO for its efforts for developing air navigation and transportation, stressing Qatar's firm commitment to supporting the ICAO’s mission and objectives to ensure aviation’s safety and security, and promote the sustainable growth of this vital industry globally.Wrapping up the event, Mr. Mohamed Faleh Al-Hajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, appreciated ICAO’s Council President and Secretary General.
