Nana Patekar, a veteran Indian actor known for his fiery performances in Bollywood films and theatre, died Thursday aged 75, local media reported.Patekar was found unconscious at his home in the coastal state of Goa early Thursday morning and doctors were unable to revive him, news agency ANI and other media reported.He died of cardiac arrest, but it was unclear what triggered it, Shekhar Salkar, chief of the oncology department at the Manipal Hospital, where Patekar was brought, told ANI.Born Vishawanath Patekar, but popularly known as Nana, he started his career doing theatre in Marathi, the language spoken in his home state of Maharashtra, which is also home to Bollywood.Patekar acted in several of India's arthouse movies in the 1970's and 80's, including Mira Nair's award-winning "Salaam Bombay" before moving to mainstream Bollywood.He played a variety of roles, sharing screen space with actors such as Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and excelling in both serious and comic roles.His performances, marked by trademark aggression and forceful dialogue, won him several national and regional film awards."He was one of those rare actors who never needed to do too much to make you sit up and watch. That voice, that intensity, that honesty in every performance...he was completely his own," said actor Akshay Kumar, who acted with Patekar in several movies.Patekar is survived by his wife, from whom he was separated, and a son. 

His Excellency Attorney-General Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi ordered the arrest of a plastic and cosmetic surgeon and the director of a medical centre, and their referral to the competent criminal court to face charges related to the offences attributed to them.The Public Prosecution had launched investigations into a case involving the illegal practice of the medical profession without a licence. The first defendant was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for practicing medicine at a private medical centre despite having been suspended from practicing the profession by the competent department at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), pursuant to a decision issued by the Public Prosecution in the interest of the investigation.This followed the prosecution's review of several complaints filed against him over medical errors allegedly committed. The second defendant, who serves as the medical director responsible for managing the centre where the first defendant was working, was also arrested for allowing him to practice medicine at the medical centre despite being fully aware of the suspension.HE the Attorney General ordered that both defendants be remanded in custody and referred to the competent criminal court to be tried and punished in accordance with the provisions of the Law Regulating the Practice of the Medical Profession. 

Libyan authorities announced the arrest of hundreds of irregular migrants during a security operation in the city of Sabratha. The Sabratha Security Directorate's media office reported that the migrants were arrested during a large-scale campaign conducted by security forces, targeting their presence at workers' stations and public places. On August 5, Libya's Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency announced the arrest of 350 irregular migrants of various nationalities during a large-scale security operation in the Tobruk municipality. Libya announced the deportation of 10,069 irregular migrants in 2023. Libya is a major transit point for irregular migrants seeking to reach Europe.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) launched a massive arrest and raid campaign across several West Bank governorates on Sunday, searching homes and arresting 22 Palestinians. The Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported that the IOF arrested seven Palestinians in northern Tulkarm, seven others in Bethlehem governorate, five Palestinians in the villages of the Nablus governorate, and two others in Al-Khalil and in Dura town. The IOF also arrested former Israeli Knesset member Haneen Zoabi, after raiding her home in the city of Nazareth in the Galilee region within the 1948 territories, under the pretext of "inciting terrorism." This arrest campaign comes as part of the escalating policy pursued by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, which aims to terrorize Palestinians, restrict movement, and persecute activists and freed captives.
