Al Arabi, Al Waab and Muaither reach QSL Cup quarter-finals

Al Waab and Muaither booked their places in the quarter-finals of the QSL Cup following dramatic and decisive Play-Off victories. At the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Al Wakrah, Al Arabi edged Qatar SC 12-11 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time. Qatar SC were moments away from victory, leading 2-1 deep into added time, before Al Arabi produced a sensational equaliser to force the shootout. Yan Matheus (14th minute) and Joao Pedro (58th minute) had put Qatar SC ahead, while Al Arabi responded through Karl Toko Ekambi from the penalty spot in the 57th minute and Joao Pedro Darros in the second minute of stoppage time. Ibrahim Abdelhalim Masoud’s missed kick proved decisive as Al Arabi advanced. The winners had finished fourth in the league with 19 points, while Qatar SC placed 13th with 13 points. At Al Shamal Stadium, Al Waab claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over Mesaimeer to secure their quarter-final berth. Al Waab struck early to establish a 2-0 lead by half-time, with Mekki Mohsen scoring in the third minute and Ameer Fowadah adding the second in the 32nd. Baha Faisal sealed the win in the 69th minute, while Mohammed Djenidi netted a late consolation for Mesaimeer in the 74th. Al Waab had finished fifth in the league standings with 18 points, while Mesaimeer were 11th on 13 points. Meanwhile, Muaither registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Al Kharaitiyat at Al Khor Stadium. Both goals came after the break, with Siriky Diabate opening the scoring in the 56th minute before Etyan Morales doubled the advantage in the 76th. Muaither, who finished third in the league phase with 20 points, moved confidently into the last eight, while Al Kharaitiyat had scraped into the Play-Offs in 14th place, the final qualifying position, with 13 points.

Amir Cup preliminary round fixtures announced

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced the schedule for the preliminary round of the Amir Cup, with the matches taking place on January 10 across four venues.The preliminary stage will be played in a knockout format, with four teams advancing to the Round of 16. Al Sailiya will face Al Muaither at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Al Markhiya will take on Muaither at Thani bin Jassim Stadium, Al Kharaitiyat will meet Al Bidda at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, while Al Waab will play Lusail at the same venue.All matches will be decided on a knockout basis. In the event of a draw at the end of regulation time, teams will contest 30 minutes of extra time, split into two 15-minute halves. If the tie remains unresolved, the winner will be determined by a penalty shootout.Amir Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in Qatar football, which continues to attract strong interest from the sporting community and fans ahead of the latter stages of the competition.The match-ups are based on the final standings of the Second Division at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season, with the first-placed team facing the eighth, the second playing the seventh, the third meeting the sixth, and the fourth taking on the fifth. The format was confirmed following the completion of the 14th and final round of the Second Division league.Al Sailiya finished top of the standings with 28 points, followed by Al Markhiya (25), Al Kharaitiyat (23), Al Waab (19), Lusail (18), Al Bidda (15), Muaither (12) and Al Muaither, who placed eighth with 11 points.

Sailiya beat Gharafa 3-0 in the fifth round of QSL Cup

Al Sailiya defeated Al Gharafa 3-0 in the fifth round of the QSL Cup at the Grand Hamad Stadium. Abdulrahman Mohammed opened the scoring in the third minute, before Khaled Ali doubled the lead in the 11th. Hadi Ali sealed the victory with a third goal deep into stoppage time (90+2). At Al Khor Stadium, Al Bidda were held to a 2-2 draw by Muaither. Amen Allah Meherzi gave Al Bidda an early lead in the sixth minute, but Etyan Morales levelled for Muaither in the 28th. Albert Luque put Muaither ahead in the 47th minute, only for Cristian Del Bello to equalise from the penalty spot in stoppage time after a foul in the box. Elsewhere, Al Kharaitiyat drew 1-1 with Al Wakrah at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. Raul de Tomas opened the scoring for Al Wakrah in the 44th minute, but after Al Mahdi Ali was sent off early in the second half, Al Kharaitiyat took advantage, with Jordan Yuli Jele netting a late equaliser.

Al Rayyan Municipality intensifies building inspection campaign

Al Rayyan Municipality's Technical Control Section of the Municipal Control Department has intensified its inspection campaigns to detect building violations and workers’ accommodations in Muaither South, Zone (55).The campaign resulted in detecting 17 violations related to unlicensed construction, and one violation for a workers’ accommodation in a family residential area.Warning notices and violation reports were issued to the offenders, and the necessary legal procedures taken.The campaign also targeted violations related to building permits and approved plans, buildings under construction, and buildings requiring maintenance or demolition.Al Rayyan Municipality has urged property owners and tenants to comply with planning regulations and building permits, and refrain from making any modifications to buildings without the necessary approvals to preserve the city’s urban system and civilised appearance.It also affirmed that inspection campaigns will continue as part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the quality of life in the city.
