Old Doha Port recorded strong visitor engagement in the lead-up to and on Qatar National Sport Day, driven by the MOVE Sports Festival and a full day of free public activations Tuesday. Mina Park opened its spaces across multiple locations, welcoming the community to family-friendly sports and wellness experiences designed to promote active lifestyles. Old Doha Port also welcomed several ministers and dignitaries, including His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, former prime minister and minister of interior; His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, Minister of Finance; His Excellency Gen Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, Adviser to His Highness the Amir for Defence Affairs; His Excellency Engineer Yasser bin Abdullah al-Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth; and His Excellency Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), who toured the MOVE Sports festival and the Mina Corniche. MoEHE also delivered a series of family-friendly fitness challenges at Mina Park, opposite the Containers Yard, from 7am to 1.30pm. The celebrations were complemented by a kite festival at Terminal Park, adding a festive atmosphere. In a press statement, Engineer Mohammed Abdulla al-Mulla, CEO of Old Doha Port, said: “National Sport Day at Old Doha Port demonstrates how collaboration and accessible public spaces can support healthier, more active communities. MOVE is not only about being active, but about understanding what it takes to sustain healthy and high-performing lifestyles. “Through panel discussions, we shared real stories and expert insights that encouraged people to think differently about movement, well-being, and long-term performance. On National Sport Day, we were able to offer free and accessible activities across Old Doha Port, supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by encouraging active lifestyles and long-term well-being.” Throughout the week, Old Doha Port leveraged its infrastructure and operational readiness to host a diverse public programme spanning sports, wellness, retail, and food and beverage offerings. The strong turnout highlighted the Port’s growing role as a platform for national celebrations and community-driven events. 

All roads led to the Mina Park at the Old Doha Port over the weekend as the Qatar Kite Festival 2026 bespeckled the winter skies with colour and creativity.**media[406176]**Running from January 15-24, the festival has quickly become one of the season’s most anticipated attractions, drawing families, tourists, and kite enthusiasts alike.**media[406177]**The event offers free entry and features a packed programme of day and night kite displays, with international teams performing synchronised aerial shows against the backdrop of the city’s skyline.**media[406178]**Visitors can expect themed kites of every shape and size, cultural stage performances, carnival parades, and a festive atmosphere that stretches across the park.**media[406179]**Children are at the heart of the celebration, with dedicated play zones, kite-making workshops, and giveaways ensuring plenty of hands-on fun. Food and beverage outlets line the venue, making it easy for families to spend the entire day enjoying the spectacle.**media[406182]**Festival timings run from 3pm-10pm on weekdays and from 10am-10pm on weekends, giving ample opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the magic of the skies.
