 With the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 underway, Egyptian national team player Mahmoud ‘Trézéguet’ Hassan is proud of Qatar’s leading role in bringing recognition to the region in the world of sports.   “The world witnessed Qatar’s exceptional hosting capabilitiesduring the World Cup in 2022. It was a historic achievement not just for the country, but for the region. Now with the Arab Cup, all eyes are on Qatar once again, as Arab football takes centre stage,” said Egypt’s prolific striker, whose goal scoring style earned him the nickname ‘Trézéguet’, after former French footballer David Trézéguet. Egypt has been placed in Group C in the Arab Cup, alongside Jordan, UAE and Kuwait. The Pharaohs will look to improve on their last showing, when they finished fourth, after narrowly losing to hosts Qatar in a penalty shootout at the FIFA Arab Cup held in 2021. "The Arab Cup is an incredible tournament. It is an honour for Egypt to play in this prestigious competition. Every match is an opportunity for the team to showcase its strength, and I am sure they are ready to give it their all and make our fans proud," said Hassan, who also plays as a midfielder for Egyptian powerhouse, Al Ahly. His prolific club career also included playing for top European clubs, such as the English Premier League side Aston Villa, and Qatar's Al-Rayyan SC. Hassan marked his debut with the Egyptian national team in 2014, helping the team reach the African Cup final in 2017 and 2023. Most recently, he made a notable impact in the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, scoring five goals and helping Egypt secure a spot at the prestigious tournament. "There is no greater feeling than wearing the national team jersey, with millions of Egyptian fans cheering for you. Playing for Egypt is an honour. I look forward to every match as though it is my first," said Hassan, who has made 86 appearances for his national team, scoring a total of 22 goals to date.Egypt will look to make their fans proud at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, as the team gets ready to kick off their campaign on 2 December when they face Kuwait at the iconic Lusail Stadium, 5:30pm. “Playing in Qatar is a wonderful experience for any player. They will be playing on World Cup stadiums, which makes this tournament all the more special. Qatar’s sporting infrastructure is truly commendable. The quality of stadiums and facilities make a difference in a team’s performance and success,” said Hassan.   The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 is taking place from 1-18 December across six stadiums, that previously hosted matches during the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.. A total of 16 teams will have a chance to win the coveted trophy.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as ways to enhance bilateral relations, during their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.The two ministers emphasised the importance of implementing the latest United Nations Security Council resolution on the Gaza Strip and enabling the International Stabilisation Force to carry out its duties.The meeting also reviewed Egypt's efforts to consolidate the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and to support the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. In addition, the ministers discussed a number of regional issues of mutual interest, ways to implement the outcomes of the recent Joint Planning Group meeting held in Ankara, Turkiye, and preparations for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Cairo to chair the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, scheduled for 2026.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas discussed via phone the latest developments in Gaza and Sudan, efforts to promote peace and sustainable development across Africa, and strengthening the Egypt-EU bilateral relations.In a statement issued Saturday, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said Abdelatty briefed Kallas on Cairo's efforts to uphold the Sharm El-Sheikh cease-fire agreement in Gaza. He also outlined preparations for Egypt's upcoming hosting of the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza, scheduled for later this month, and expressed hope for active participation from EU member states.On Sudan, both sides emphasized the importance of preserving the country's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. They also condemned the recent atrocities reported in the city of El Fasher.

HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad conferred with Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Dr Maya Mursi, during her visit to Egypt.The meeting explored bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, particularly in providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. It also discussed opportunities for implementing future joint projects between the two countries, besides topics of common interest.

The Qatar National Golf Team has added a new chapter to its record of success, with Daniil Sokolov claiming victory at the Egypt Open Golf Championship, a tournament sanctioned by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and part of the Arab Golf Federation Series. The championship concluded last Saturday in Cairo.Displaying exceptional form and composure, Sokolov dominated the three-round event, finishing nine-under par (-9) to secure the title ahead of a strong field of top Arab and international golfers. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Sunday with Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Qatar Walid Fahmy al-Faqi.The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, as well as issues of mutual interest. The ambassador conveyed Egypt's condolences over the death of three members of the Amiri Diwan in a traffic accident in Sharm el-Sheikh while performing their official duties, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

"The water level is extremely high, much higher this year ... before it would rise for two days and then recede."The Nile has long been affected by seasonal flooding due to monsoon rainfall in the Ethiopian Highlands that usually peaks in July and August. But this year a late-season surge has pushed north from Ethiopia, through Sudan, and into Egypt.In Sudan, the UN migration agency said floods in Bahri, Khartoum state, displaced about 1,200 families last week and destroyed homes, compounding an 18-month war that has crippled the country's response.Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry has accused Ethiopia of "reckless unilateral" operation of its Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, saying sharp, unannounced swings in water releases after the dam's September 9 inauguration helped trigger a "man-made, late flood".It said, in a statement on October 3, that discharges jumped to about 485 million cubic metres on September 10 and as high as 780 million on September 27 before easing, straining Sudan's Roseires Dam and pushing excess water through to Egypt.Ethiopia, which sees the $5 billion dam as central to its development, rejected Cairo's claims, describing Egypt's statement as "malicious and riddled with numerous baseless claims".In a statement on October 4, its Water and Energy Ministry said regulated releases from the Blue Nile project had reduced flood impacts and that without it heavy rain "would have caused historic destruction in Sudan and Egypt".Ethiopia inaugurated the dam on September 9, with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed saying it was built "to prosper, to electrify the entire region, and to change the history of black people", insisting it was "not to harm its brothers".The dam is designed to generate 5,150 megawatts of power and hold up to 74 billion cubic metres of water in its lake.Cairo bitterly opposed the dam from the start, arguing that it violated water treaties dating back to the early part of the last century and poses an existential threat.Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in a press conference on October 2 that authorities had anticipated higher-than-normal flows this month and warned that low-lying tracts in Menoufia and neighbouring Beheira, long encroached by informal building and farming on the river's floodplain, were at risk.Health teams were deployed to flooded areas over the weekend.Back in Dalhamo, Gameel said residents were still waiting for help."People were warned before the water rose, but there's nowhere else for anyone," he said. "When the water rises, everyone ends up staying on top of their houses."

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against the grave consequences of the brutal and unprecedented Israeli escalation against the State of Qatar, stressing the serious risks it poses to regional stability, its undermining of de-escalation efforts, and its expansion of confrontations at the expense of civilian safety and the stability of nations.In a statement issued today, the ministry condemned in the strongest possible terms Israel's blatant aggression against the State of Qatar, which targeted a residential headquarters in Doha housing several members of the political bureau of Hamas, in a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter, and in disregard for international norms and conventions.The statement affirmed Egypt's full solidarity and unwavering support for the State of Qatar's leadership, government, and people in the face of this disgraceful aggression. It further warned all regional and international parties of the reckless Israeli policy aimed at expanding the circle of conflict and undermining all peace gains achieved over the past decades.The ministry stressed that this aggressive Israeli approach clearly reflects a deliberate intent to destroy all prospects for de-escalation, a ceasefire, and an agreement ensuring both a cessation of hostilities and the release of hostages, highlighting the complete absence of political will on the Israeli side to move toward peace, while persisting in aggression and systematic violations of international law.It added that Egypt, while reaffirming its categorical rejection of any form of aggression against the territories of Arab states, emphasizes once again that the security and stability of the State of Qatar is a fundamental pillar of Arab national security, and that any harm to it constitutes a highly dangerous development that cannot be accepted under any pretext or justification.

Egypt expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the aggressive action carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday against the State of Qatar, targeting a meeting of Palestinian leaders in Doha to discuss ways to reach a ceasefire agreement, adding that this attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of respect for the sovereignty of states and the sanctity of their territories.In a statement, the Egyptian presidency affirmed that this attack represents a dangerous precedent and an unacceptable development, and constitutes a direct assault on the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, which plays a pivotal role in mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The statement emphasized that this escalation undermines international efforts to achieve calm and threatens security and stability in the entire region.The Egyptian presidency urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities regarding this flagrant Israeli violation, take immediate action to halt the aggression, and hold those responsible accountable, so that it does not add to Israel's usual impunity.

There is a genocide in motion there, mass killing of civilians, artificial starvation created by the Israelis," Abdelatty said.Israeli authorities did not immediately reply to a request for comment.Israel has in the past strongly denied that its actions in Gaza amount to genocide and says they are justified as self defence. It is fighting a case at the International Court of Justice in the Hague that accuses it of genocide and which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned as "outrageous".Israel launched its assault on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, after fighters from Hamas, the Palestinian group in control of the territory, stormed southern Israel.More than 64,000 Palestinians have since been killed, Gaza health authorities say, with much of the densely populated enclave laid to ruin and its residents facing a humanitarian crisis.Israel began an offensive in Gaza City on August 10, in what Netanyahu says is a plan to defeat Hamas fighters in the part of Gaza where Israeli troops fought most heavily in the war's initial phase. It now controls about 40% of Gaza City, a military spokesperson said on Thursday.Much of Gaza City was laid to waste in the war's initial weeks in October-November 2023. About a million people lived there before the war, and hundreds of thousands are believed to have returned to live among the ruins, especially since Israel ordered people out of other areas and launched offensives elsewhere.

According to the QM, this show offers a distinct artistic experience for all who seek to understand the deep connections between art, memory, and the fundamental aspects of the human condition. It artfully blends various mediums, including digital illustration, photography, painting, collage, and written word, successfully transforming digital expressions into tangible, physical forms. Through its comprehensive residency programmes, it provides vital working studio space, fosters creative exchange, and offers cultural enrichment both within Qatar and internationally through its Paris and New York residency programmes.
