The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) announced that it will organise the 2026 summer language and culture camps in France, Germany, and Japan for outstanding Grade 11 Qatari students from public schools.In a statement, MoEHE said that this initiative is part of its strategic programmes designed to enhance language skills and promote cultural exchange, adding that this year's camps build on the success of previous editions.MoEHE added that through this initiative, it aims to strengthen students' proficiency in their target language and to broaden students' knowledge by exposing them to the host countries' cultures and traditions, thereby contributing to creating an open-minded and capable generation.The four-week programme will commence in July and see the Qatari male students undergo an interactive educational experience that includes intensive language courses and specialised workshops in the three countries, providing them with the opportunity to engage directly with students of diverse nationalities.The statement noted that the summer camps adopt a comprehensive approach that goes beyond academics to include sports and cultural activities, as well as field visits to historical landmarks. These activities help refine students' personal qualities and raise their awareness of educational opportunities available for pursuing university studies abroad.To ensure that Qatar is represented in the best manner, the ministry has established eligibility criteria, setting that applicants must be Qatari nationals of good conduct and are medically fit, in addition to having achieved an overall average of no less than 90% in the first semester certificate, with at least 85% in the foreign language subject and 90% in English.Candidates are also required to submit a CV and pass a personal interview conducted in both English and their respective foreign language to assess their readiness, enthusiasm for exploring other cultures, and ability to adapt to international educational environments.MoEHE emphasised that the summer camps are a valuable opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in real-world environments.It called on interested students who meet the requirements to contact their school administrations to begin the registration and interview procedures, in alignment with the competencies and values of the Qatar National Curriculum Framework.  

Prompt reporting of cybercrime is crucial to successfully proving the offence or mitigating its impact, an official from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said.“When a fraud or a cybercrime occurs, the speed of reporting the incident is an important factor in the success of the evidence-gathering process as digital evidence is subject to loss and manipulation,” said First Lieutenant Adnan Hasan al-Rashed of the MoI’s Economic and Cyber Crimes Prevention Department. “As soon as the crime has happened or you are a victim of a cybercrime, you should immediately report it to the concerned department, which is the office of the Cybercrimes Prevention Department.”He was speaking Tuesday at a webinar organised by the MoI’s Public Relations Department on the topic of “Cybercrimes and Methods of Prevention”.The webinar discussed various cybercrimes, including hacking, fraud of all kinds, threatening people and blackmailing them, sexual exploitation of children, and spreading rumours.Al-Rashed said that when such a crime takes place, people can report it in various ways.“However, the best option for the public to raise a complaint is by visiting the office of the department and report it personally, especially in case of a fraud involving huge amount of money,” he stated. “Other methods of reporting through e-mail or Metrash can be applied in case of minor crimes.”Al-Rashed noted that in case of an economic crime involving bank accounts, there are some procedures to be followed.“In such cases, the person has to first go to the bank and take a report about details of the account from the bank,” he said. “It should be sealed and signed by the bank.”“(Then) approach the MoI department along with the document,” the official continued. “The most important thing in raising a complaint related with the cybercrime is the immediate action taken by the victim.”As for blackmailing through various social media channels, al-Rashed advised victims not to respond to the perpetrator at all and block the person from all communication channels.“In such cases, the economic and cybercrime prevention department must be informed directly through the available reporting channels, such as e-mail, phone, Metrash, or by representing personally to initiate investigation,” he said.“Most important thing: if a person becomes a victim of blackmail, he should not respond to the offender at all and block him from all networking channels,” al-Rashed emphasised. “Sometimes the offender will be asking for many things which may lead to many other complications.He said that people should always be extra vigilant while using online communication channels.“It is important to have strong passwords for all the online accounts, including personal accounts in banks as well as social media accounts,” the official said. “There should be continuous backups of the systems, and they should be updated periodically.”“It is also important to have multi-factor authentication as it ensures extra security through a two-step verification process,” he added.“Additional security measures should be set up in the e-mail, such as phone number and a backup e-mail which can help to recover the accounts as well as to track the offender,” al-Rashed said. “Furthermore, people should not open links from untrusted sources.”

The State of Qatar has announced that Wednesday (February 18) will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, following the sighting of the crescent moon. In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said its Moon Sighting Committee had confirmed the beginning of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH. The committee met at the ministry's headquarters in Doha under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Yahya bin Batty Al Nuaimi to verify testimonies of moon sightings on the 29th day of Shaaban, corresponding to February 17, 2026. The committee extended its congratulations on the occasion to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani; to His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani; to His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani; as well as to the government, the Qatari people, and Muslims worldwide. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims around the world as a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) organised a number of sporting events and activities as part of the National Sport Day celebrations, held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. His Excellency the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie took part at the activities alongside the assistant undersecretaries of the ministry, in addition to department directors, who joined employees in the activities in an atmosphere characterised by interaction and positive spirit. The events included various activities such as padel and tennis, walking and fitness exercises, with notable participation from ministry employees and their children. The ministry was keen to provide a fully integrated organisational environment that observes safety and comfort standards to ensure a safe sporting experience for participants, reflecting the level of readiness and organisation in the implementation of its public events. Accordingly, HE Dr al-Subaie stressed that National Sport Day represents an important national occasion for reinforcing concepts of quality of life, raising awareness of the importance of adopting healthy and sustainable lifestyles, and building a more active society. He noted that the ministry views sports as a supportive element in enhancing job performance efficiency, improving the work environment, and strengthening employees’ psychological and physical well-being, considering such initiatives as contributing to the creation of a positive and motivating workplace. Dr Farhoud Hadi al-Hajri, director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the ministry, affirmed that National Sport Day represents a unifying national occasion reflecting the state’s concern for human health and its commitment to entrenching a culture of sports practice in society as a fundamental element in building individuals and enhancing their capacity for contribution and productivity. 

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs honoured participants and instructors in the programmes and courses of the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute for the year 2025, during a ceremony held at Imam Muhammad bin Abdulwahhab Mosque. The award ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem, Undersecretary of the Ministry Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Da‘wah and Mosques Affairs Mohammed bin Hamad al- Kuwari, and several ministry directors and professionals working in the field of da‘wah. This was part of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ ongoing efforts to raise the standards of imams, preachers, khateebs, muezzins, researchers, and Islamic jurists, and its commitment to qualifying them academically and professionally, enabling them to fulfil their educational and da‘wah mission on sound scholarly foundations that keep pace with the requirements of the modern era. The ceremony recognised a distinguished group of outstanding participants in scientific, skills-based, and specialised courses. The total number of beneficiaries of the Institute’s programmes during 2025 reached approximately 2,900, encompassing Shariah, knowledge-based, skills, administrative, and specialised programmes targeting various categories working in the da‘wah field. On this occasion, Director of the Da‘wah and Religious Guidance Department at the ministry Jassim al-Ali, said that the recognition represents a culmination of a journey of scholarly and da‘wah contributions. He noted that imams and preachers are the cornerstone of educational development and societal reform, and that their mission goes beyond the performance of rituals to include education, guidance, and awareness-building. He stressed the importance of continuing to seek knowledge and develop skills in line with contemporary developments, serving societal issues with a spirit of moderation and balance. For his part, participant Abdulrahman al-Bakri, one of the graduates of the New Qatari Imams Qualification Course, delivered a speech on behalf of the newly qualified Qatari imams, expressing his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Awqaf and the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute for the high-quality foundational programmes. He affirmed that the imamate was a responsibility, and a lifelong mission that requires good example and a balanced, conscious connection between society and religion. In this context, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed that the programmes of the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute are among the comprehensive, high-quality initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic and professional competence of imams and preachers. The ceremony concluded with handing out of certificates to outstanding participants and instructors.
