The Ministry of Justice (MoJ), represented by the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies, has launched three specialised training programmes.The training programmes aim to refine the participants' skills, develop their abilities to present convincing legal arguments before the courts, acquire skills in analysing judicial rulings, distinguish between formal and substantive errors and defects, build legal defences, arrange grounds for appeal, and ensure the integrity of legal drafting, in addition to practical training on writing appeal briefs, petitions for reconsideration, appeals by way of cassation, and the supervisory measures stipulated in Qatari legislation.The training includes a legal and judicial sciences programme for assistant judges, organised by the MoJ in co-operation with the Supreme Judicial Council.The director of the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies, Dr Abdullah Hamad al-Khalidi, said that these programmes fall under the ministry’s keenness to develop the legal training system and build national competencies on the legislative knowledge and practical skills necessary to raise the level of legal work in government agencies.He said that the centre is keen to ensure that its training programmes are linked to the practical needs of lawyers in government agencies, and that they combine legal grounding with professional application, enabling participants to properly employ legislation and deal efficiently with the legal issues and risks they face in the work environment.Dr al-Khalidi added that investing in the training of legal personnel is a key pillar within the MoJ's 2025-30 strategic plan to enhance the efficiency of government institutions and consolidate the rule of law, as well as to support the state's directions towards building an effective government apparatus based on knowledge, efficiency and institutional excellence.The topics of the training programmes, he said, reflect the diversity and sustainability of meeting the legal needs of government agencies, as they combine developing litigation skills, raising the efficiency of legal and judicial sciences for assistant judges, and enhancing the efficiency of experts.

The third edition of the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum 3-2-1 Blitz Chess Championship for Under-16 was held with great enthusiasm on Tuesday.The tournament, held at the museum hall, saw the participation of 50 players, including 40 Qatari players. The competition was held using the Swiss system and consisted of six rounds.American Adam Shahab al-Din finished in first place with 6 points, while Qatari national team player Asma al-Hammadi finished second with 5 points. Jordanian Jad Awad was third, also with 5 points, but with a lower number of moves.Khaled Majid al-Zubara won the Best Qatari Player prize with 5 points, while Sarah al-Mudahka won the Best Qatari Female Player prize with 4 points.In other categories, Ali al-Sharshani won the Best Qatari Player prize in the under-12 category, and Munira Jassim al-Fakhro was the Best Qatari Female Player in the under-12 category. In the under-10 section, Issa Rashid al-Marikhi won the Best Qatari Player award, and Aisha Jassim al-Fakhro won the Best Qatari Female Player award.In the under-8 category, Tamim Abdulaziz was the Best Qatari Player while Aisha al-Kuwari the Best Qatari Female Player.Mohammed al-Mudahka, President of the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), expressed his great pleasure at the overwhelming participation from various nationalities, noting that the tournament was held in partnership with the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum 3-2-1 as part of QCA's aim to promote chess culture in the community.Al-Mudahka also expressed his gratitude to the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum 3-2-1 for their cooperation in organizing the tournament for a third successive year. 

The State of Qatar took part on Monday in a meeting of senior prosecutors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to discuss further judicial cooperation.The 17th meeting of Their Excellencies GCC assistant attorneys general and prosecutors was held virtually and discussed rules for using AI in public prosecution work, the formation of a Gulf-wide joint investigation teams and mechanisms for cooperation among GCC prosecution authorities.Participants further examined unified models for international cooperation among the public prosecution and prosecution authorities of GCC member states.Qatar was represented by Abdullah Mohammed Al Maliki, First Attorney General and Director of the Judicial Inspection Department, along with several Public Prosecution officials.The discussions are part of preparations for the 18th meeting of Their Excellencies GCC Attorneys General and Prosecutors, which is due to be held in October.
