Qatar private sector steadies in June, says S&P

Qatar’s non energy private sector showed signs of stabilisation in June, with firms reporting a return to normal operations and recovering demand.The S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 47.6 in June from 45.9 in May, its highest in four months, signalling that the pace of decline in business conditions has slowed.Non energy output was broadly stable, ending a six month downturn, as companies cited recovering demand and stronger capacity. Construction activity rebounded during the month, helping to offset weakness in services.New orders continued to contract, though at a slower pace than earlier in the year. Firms pointed to business uncertainty, increased competition, and sectoral challenges in real estate and tourism. Wholesale and retail operators, however, reported gains in new work.Trevor Balchin, Economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated: “The PMI rose to a four month high in June and the outlook for the next 12 months improved notably, hinting that the non energy private sector was on the cusp of a recovery approaching the midway point of 2026.”“The June data collection period began on June 11, prior to the signing of an initial peace agreement between the US and Iran on June 17, and closed on June 23,” Balchin also said.Employment growth extended its 23 month sequence, though gains were modest. Workforce numbers rose in manufacturing and retail but declined in construction and services. Input purchases also increased for the first time in six months, allowing firms to replenish inventories, Balchin explained.Inflationary pressures remained a concern, Balchin noted. Input costs accelerated for the sixth consecutive month to a 20 month high, driven by steeper wage growth, while output charges rose at the fastest pace since December 2022. He noted that purchase price inflation eased slightly compared to May, suggesting raw material costs may have peaked.Despite these pressures, sentiment strengthened across all monitored sectors, according to S&P Global. The Future Output Index climbed to a four month high, with businesses anticipating improved market conditions once regional tensions stabilise.

The total value of sale contracts listed in the real estate bulletin for residential units during the same period from June 28 to July 2 reached QR82,522,865, bringing the total value of real estate trading during the week to QR565.295mn.

Why global infrastructure players are looking at Central Asia

Artificial intelligence has turned data centres into one of the most important asset classes of the next decade. For years, data centres were viewed simply as specialised real estate for cloud, enterprise IT and content delivery. Data center clusters are now recognized as core pillars of economic competitiveness. AI workloads demand unprecedented power densities, specialized high-voltage grid interfaces, advanced liquid cooling topographies, and engineering competencies more similar to heavy industrial manufacturing rather than traditional real estate. The International Energy Agency has validated this structural bottleneck from the energy point of view. It estimates that around 20 percent of planned data centre projects could face delay risks if electricity grid constraints are not addressed. In advanced economies, the lead time for constructing new transmission lines can take four to eight years, while waiting times for critical components such as transformers and cables have doubled in recent years. For institutional infrastructure allocation, this supply-demand asymmetry poses an urgent question: which emerging geographies can deliver the full physical stack required to host the global AI economy? This is why Central Asia is beginning to attract more attention. The region is not yet a mature hyperscale market on the level of Northern Virginia, Frankfurt, London, Singapore or Tokyo. But that is precisely why it is becoming interesting, global institutional investors increasingly favor geographies that combine strategic location, land availability, energy generation potential, growing digital demand and the ability to build new infrastructure without being dragged down by legacy constraints.**media[465674]**Kazakhstan is pivotal to that discussion. Geographically, the country sits between Europe and Asia, while maintaining natural links to the Middle East, China, Russia, the Caucasus and South Asia. Economically, it is the largest market in Central Asia and has spent years positioning itself as a logistics, finance and digital bridge in the region. Crucially for foreign capital, the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) provides international investors with a trusted, familiar legal framework based on English common law, neutralizing the regulatory friction often associated with frontier markets. Strategically, the country has a clear incentive to localise more of its digital infrastructure and reduce dependence on external compute capacity. For Gulf readers, the story should feel familiar. The GCC’s rise as an infrastructure powerhouse was built on the exact same formula: leveraging abundance of energy, unparalleled geographic positioning, and long-horizon sovereign capital to reshape global trade and data flows. Central Asia is now executing a parallel transition, translating its massive industrial capacity and geographical positioning into digital sovereignty. The primary missing element in this strategy was a concrete institutional-grade reference project capable of validating Central Asia’s engineering capability. The AKASHI Data Center in Astana serves as that definitive anchor. Built on an 11-hectare site, AKASHI Data Center features four autonomous buildings, 4,224 server racks and up to 100 MW of capacity in its current configuration. It has completed Uptime Institute certification and received its Tier IV certificate, confirming strong redundancy, physical security and operational resilience. Furthermore, the localized climate allows for ambient free-cooling for a significant part of the year, an important advantage as energy efficiency becomes one of the decisive issues in data centre development. Its importance goes beyond its technical specifications. AKASHI changes the investment conversation because it gives the region a reference asset. Before such projects existed, a region was often described as "promising." Now global players can evaluate real capacity, real engineering and real demand. AKASHI has already shown signs of that transition. The company signed a strategic memorandum with China Mobile International in July 2025. Focused on intelligent infrastructure development, cross-border digital ecosystems, and AI compute deployment, this partnership confirms that global telecom and technology players are formally integrating Central Asia into their long-term infrastructure mapping. The winners will be the regions that can offer a complete package: reliable power, abundant land, favorable cooling conditions, fiber connectivity, legal clarity, security, skilled operations and political commitment to digital growth. The broader conclusion is clear. AI is creating a new infrastructure geography. It is pushing investors to look beyond the traditional map and to identify locations where execution is still possible at scale. With projects like AKASHI establishing the baseline for hyper-scale execution, Kazakhstan has successfully signaled its readiness to host the global AI economy. For global infrastructure players and GCC sovereign investors seeking to deploy liquidity into high-conviction, cross-border digital corridors, the Central Asian tech frontier represents a rare window to capture first-mover premiums before the market becomes obvious.

QSE awaits H1 results as index targets 10,710 level

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index closed the week down 0.690%, losing 70.650 points compared to last week, to settle at 10,211 points under pressure from five sectors.QSE figures for this week indicate that the transportation sector suffered the largest losses, declining by 1.790 %, while the real estate sector recorded the highest gains, rising by 0.28 %.Talking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), financial analyst Mubarak al-Tamimi said the QSE is anticipating a new phase next week with the disclosure of companies' first-half results, noting that the index is trading within a technical support zone that could pave the way for a new upward trend if investor sentiment improves.Al-Tamimi added that the QSE index fluctuated this week between the weekly support level of 10,227 points and the monthly support level of 9,927, with the possibility of testing the 9,727-point level if selling pressure continues, particularly from foreign investors in the banking and industrial sectors.He pointed out that the recent selling pressure was linked to the anticipation surrounding the release of financial results, emphasizing that next week will be clearer in determining the market's direction, with emerging investment opportunities in stocks expected to deliver strong results or offer semi-annual dividends.He predicted that the index would rebound from current support levels and enter an upward trend, provided it successfully surpasses the resistance level at 10,340 points. This could propel it to target 10,580 as an initial objective, followed by 10,710 as a subsequent target.Al-Tamimi concluded by stating that the performance of bank stocks and the announcements of leading companies' results will be the primary drivers of market performance in the coming period, noting that positive results could bolster investor confidence and support continued improvement in the QSE during the second half of the year.

DSQ Real Estate highlights responsible advisory as Dubai’s off-plan property market matures

As Dubai’s off-plan property market continues to attract international attention, DSQ Real Estate is highlighting the growing importance of responsible advisory for overseas buyers, particularly investors from the United Kingdom who are increasingly looking at Dubai as a long-term property investment destination. Dubai has remained one of the world’s most closely watched real estate markets, supported by strong infrastructure growth, investor-friendly regulations, flexible payment plans, and continued demand for new residential communities. Off-plan properties continue to play a central role in this growth, offering buyers access to new developments at earlier stages and often with structured payment options that appeal to both investors and end users. However, as the market matures, the buying decision has become more complex. UK buyers entering Dubai’s off-plan segment are no longer looking only at launch prices or branded brochures. They are asking deeper questions about developer credibility, project timelines, payment structures, future rental demand, resale liquidity, service charges, and long-term community growth. This shift has created a stronger need for advisory-led real estate consultancy in Dubai. DSQ Real Estate, a Dubai-based property consultancy, says the next phase of the off-plan market will be shaped not only by demand, but by the quality of guidance buyers receive before making a commitment. “UK buyers are becoming more informed and more careful. They are not simply asking which project is available; they are asking whether the investment makes sense over five to ten years,” said Danish Salim Qureshi,CEO of DSQ Real Estate, British entrepreneur and property consultant in Dubai. “Our responsibility is to help them understand the full picture — the developer, the location, the payment plan, the risks, and the realistic upside. Responsible advisory is no longer optional in Dubai’s off-plan market; it is essential.” For many UK investors, Dubai offers a combination of lifestyle appeal, rental yield potential, tax efficiency, and global connectivity. Yet buying off-plan in a foreign market requires a different level of preparation. Unlike ready properties, off-plan investments depend on future delivery, construction progress, master-community planning, market supply, and post-handover demand. DSQ Real Estate works with buyers to simplify this process by reviewing project fundamentals, explaining regulatory requirements, comparing developer track records, and guiding clients through documentation and transaction procedures. The company says its focus is to help clients make decisions based on due diligence rather than sales pressure. Dubai’s regulatory environment has also played a key role in strengthening investor confidence. Systems such as developer registration, escrow-linked project payments, regulated sales processes, and transparent transaction data have helped create a more secure property environment. However, international buyers still need professional guidance to understand how these protections apply in practice. According to DSQ Real Estate, one of the biggest challenges for UK buyers is not finding projects, but filtering them. With a growing number of off-plan launches across Dubai, buyers must evaluate whether a project is supported by real end-user demand, infrastructure growth, rental potential, and realistic pricing compared with nearby communities. A lower launch price does not always mean better value. Similarly, a high-profile project is not automatically the safest investment. The strongest opportunities often depend on a combination of location, developer delivery history, payment flexibility, community maturity, and future supply levels. This is where DSQ Real Estate believes consultancy firms must play a more responsible role. Rather than focusing only on short-term sales, the company says the industry must help buyers understand both opportunity and risk. “Dubai remains a strong market, but every project should be assessed properly,” added Danish Salim Qureshi. “For UK buyers, trust is built through clarity. They want direct answers, realistic expectations, and professional guidance. That is the standard the market now demands.” As Dubai’s off-plan segment continues to evolve, advisory quality is likely to become a key differentiator for real estate firms. Buyers are becoming more data-conscious, developers are competing for credibility, and overseas investors are placing greater value on transparent communication. For DSQ Real Estate, this market maturity represents an important step forward. The company believes Dubai’s long-term appeal will continue to grow, but sustainable investor confidence will depend on education, transparency, and responsible consultancy. As more UK buyers explore Dubai’s property market, the message is clear: successful off-plan investment is no longer about buying early alone. It is about buying wisely, with the right research, the right guidance, and a clear understanding of the market before committing capital. About DSQ Real Estate DSQ Real Estate is a Dubai-based real estate consultancy focused on helping local and international buyers explore property opportunities across the emirate. The company provides advisory support for off-plan property investments, developer project comparisons, documentation guidance, and market-led property selection, with a particular focus on helping overseas investors understand Dubai’s real estate landscape.

Real Madrid appointed Jose Mourinho as their coach on Thursday on a three-year deal, with the Portuguese veteran making a sensational return to the Spanish capital after 13 years away. The 63-year-old replaces Alvaro Arbeloa after Madrid finished a second consecutive season without a major trophy, falling behind domestic rivals Barcelona. "(Real Madrid have) agreed to appoint Jose Mourinho as the first team's head coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029," said the 15-time European champions in a statement. "Jose Mourinho will join Real Madrid on July 13, the day preseason begins." One of football's most successful yet divisive managers, Mourinho arrives from Benfica, where the Lisbon club completed an unbeaten league campaign but finished third. Benfica said Wednesday Real Madrid were paying 15mn euros ($17.25m) for the Portuguese coach.Mourinho managed Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup during an intense period of rivalry with Pep Guardiola's golden era Barcelona side. Real Madrid became the first club to reach 100 points in a La Liga season under Mourinho in the 2011-12 campaign, although Barcelona did the same in the subsequent season before Mourinho departed.Mourinho divided the Real Madrid dressing room, with some players - including predecessor Arbeloa - fiercely loyal to him, while others were at loggerheads with the coach. Known to rule with an iron fist, Mourinho is charged with bringing Real Madrid's dressing room egos in check, after multiple conflicts and problems marked a troubled season. Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde was treated in hospital after a row with team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni in May, among other flashpoints. Coaches Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa also could not find a way to successfully deploy star players Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham together without destabilising the balance of the team.In an appearance on Spanish television earlier in May, Madrid president Florentino Perez credited Mourinho with laying the groundwork for Real Madrid's last six Champions League titles, achieved in the years after the Portuguese departed. The chief said he would bring back Mourinho if he was reelected president earlier in June, which he was. Mourinho's return to Madrid also signifies a jump back to the European elite after several years away from the game's peak. The coach burst into the limelight as he won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, before helping Chelsea claim back-to-back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006. Mourinho labelled himself a "special one" as his team dominated the English top flight, before guiding Inter Milan to Champions League glory in 2010 as part of a unique treble for an Italian side. Madrid chief Perez appointed him to try and stop Guardiola's powerful Barca team, which he achieved to an extent, in a fractious spell which also disrupted the harmony in the Spanish national team.Mourinho returned to Chelsea, winning the Premier League in 2015, before modest spells at Manchester United, Tottenham and Roma among other clubs. He won the EFL Cup and Europa League with Manchester United in 2017 and since then has only lifted the Conference League trophy with Roma in 2022. The coach was sacked by Turkish side Fenerbahce in August 2025 after failing to guide them past Benfica in a Champions League qualification play-off, before he was appointed by the Portuguese side the following month.

Dembele says criticism of France captain Mbappe has gone too far

France forward ‌Ousmane Dembele has defended captain Kylian Mbappe, saying criticism of the Real Madrid striker has ‌become excessive as the national team prepare for the World Cup.Dembele, ‌who has emerged as a ‌key figure for France at the ‌tournament and is a contender for this year's Ballon d'Or after helping Paris St Germain win the Champions League, told Spanish newspaper Marca that some commentators had gone too far in their assessment of his long-time teammate.Mbappe remains one of the most scrutinised figures in French football since leaving PSG and joining Real Madrid in 2024.Despite still being a prolific scorer, the France captain came under criticism during a season in which Real failed to win either La Liga or the Champions League, while some pundits and supporters have questioned his leadership with the national team since he inherited the captaincy following Hugo ‌Lloris's retirement from international football.Mbappe's performances, public appearances and even minor aspects of his behaviour regularly attract intense debate in France."The criticism towards him is very, very unfair," Dembele said before France start their World Cup campaign against Senegal on Tuesday. "Some people go a bit too far with the criticism of Kylian."He's an incredible player and a very good person off the pitch. Some people overdo the criticism because he's Kylian Mbappe. They shouldn't keep going after him. Whether he ties his shoelaces or not, whether he pulls up his socks or not... it's too much. He's still a human being."With the France ‌team, he's very good with ‌us, he's a leader."The pair have developed a close relationship during their years together with Les Bleus. They are expected to play central roles in France's bid for a third World Cup title in the United States, Canada and Mexico.Dembele also paid tribute to coach Didier Deschamps, who has announced that he will step down after the World Cup following more than a decade in charge of the national side."He's simply an exceptional coach," Dembele said. "He will forever remain a legend among French national team coaches."Deschamps guided France to World Cup glory in 2018 and another final four years later.Asked about the prospect of former France great Zinedine Zidane succeeding Deschamps, Dembele welcomed the idea."We hope to welcome him one day to the France bench," he said. "I'm convinced he would do a fantastic job."Zidane, who won the World Cup as a player in 1998 and later enjoyed major success coaching Real Madrid, has long ‌been linked with the France job but has repeatedly declined to discuss the position while Deschamps remains in charge.

Real Madrid coach Arbeloa says will leave post

Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed he would leave his role as Real Madrid coach at the end of a trophyless season. “Yes,” Arbeloa said at a press conference when asked to confirm that he would not be coaching the team next season, amid widespread reports that veteran manager Jose Mourinho is returning to the club. Los Blancos host Athletic Bilbao on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu in their final La Liga match of a turbulent campaign. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez appointed Arbeloa to replace Xabi Alonso in January and he is set to be replaced himself by Portuguese veteran Mourinho. Spaniard Arbeloa said he would not work as a member of Mourinho’s staff if the Portuguese coach is appointed as his successor.“Mou has a fantastic technical team, he’s got good people around him, if he comes to Madrid he will come with his team,” said Arbeloa at a press conference. “There’s no chance that I would be with him. Then, my future... from Monday I’ll think about that.”Arbeloa, who played at Madrid between 2009-2016 and later coached there at youth level said he hoped this match was a “see you later” rather than goodbye. “I hope it’s a see you later... I’ve always considered this my home, I’ve belonged to Madrid for 20 years in various roles,” said Arbeloa.“It will be my last game this season as coach of Real Madrid, I don’t know if it will be the last game of my life as coach of Real Madrid. We never know. I’ll try and enjoy it and try to get the win.” Latest Neuer injury ‘no danger’ for World Cup, say Bayern Manuel Neuer’s latest injury setback will not impact his participation at this summer’s World Cup, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl insisted. The veteran goalkeeper is not among Bayern’s 21-man squad making the trip to Berlin for Saturday’s German Cup final clash with Stuttgart, having failed to recover from a recurring left calf injury. The 40-year-old made a surprise return to Germany’s World Cup squad on Thursday, coming back two years after announcing his international retirement. And Eberl believes the latest injury will not derail his hopes of playing in a fifth World Cup. Joachim Loew, who coached Germany and Neuer to World Cup glory in Brazil in 2014, backed the decision to bring the veteran back into the fold.“It is a very good decision,” Loew said in Berlin, calling Neuer “a defining personality in the team”. “Manu knows what these tournaments are like. He has experience.” Bundesliga winners in mid-April, Bayern can win a record-extending 14th double by beating Stuttgart in the German capital today.Former Chelsea, Spain defender Azpilicueta retires Former Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, currently at Sevilla, will retire at the end of the season, he said. The 36-year-old defender, who won two Premier League titles and a Champions League with Chelsea, was capped 44 times by Spain. “After so many years living my dream, I feel it’s time to start a new chapter in my life,” said Azpilicueta on social media.“I’m grateful for every moment: the wins, the tough losses, the challenges, and most of all, the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve made along the way.” The defender’s final game will be Sevilla’s visit to face Celta Vigo today. Azpilicueta started his career with Osasuna before moving to Marseille in France and then Chelsea in 2012. The Spaniard started his career as a right-back but also played in the centre of defence and on the left, showing great versatility. After more than a decade at Stamford Bridge, where he became the club’s captain, he moved to Atletico Madrid in 2023 and then to Sevilla last summer.

The market had initially seen bullish momentum to take the 20-stock Qatar Index to an intraday high of 10,516 points but profit booking pressure in the second half led it overall settle 0.09% lower at 10,484.17 points Sunday.
