Qatar News Agency (QNA), represented by the QNA Training Centre, concluded Tuesday a three-day training course on digital corporate reputation management, organised in collaboration with Qatar University (QU) as part of the centre's 2026 training plan.Attended by QNA staff and representatives from various government entities, the programme aimed to enhance participants' expertise in building, protecting, and strengthening digital institutional reputation to boost performance and stakeholder trust.Led by Associate Professors Dr Moez ben Messaoud and Dr Taleb al-Adbah from Qatar University's Department of Mass Communication, the course covered key reputation metrics, such as credibility and transparency, while addressing threats like fake news and cyberattacks.Participants engaged in practical exercises covering social media content analysis, digital crisis simulation, and risk mitigation strategies.The initiative reflects QNA's commitment to advancing national media capabilities, keeping pace with digital communication trends, and strengthening training partnerships with leading national academic institutions.  

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index closed the week up 1.93%, gaining 191.56 to settle at 10,112.25 points, supported by gains across six sectors, while the consumer goods and services sector posted losses.Commenting on the market's performance, financial analyst Mohammed Salem al-Darwish told Qatar News Agency that geopolitical developments in the region had a direct impact on market performance over the past period, noting that de-escalation efforts contributed to supporting the stock market this week.He said the index had crossed the 10,000-point level and is expected to maintain its gains above that threshold next week, supported by positive indicators pointing to easing regional tensions.Al-Darwish also expected that signs of de-escalation and a potential agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would provide further support for the market and help sustain the index's gains, citing the strength of the Qatari economy and the solid financial position of listed companies.QSE data showed that the insurance sector recorded the strongest weekly performance, rising 3.52%, followed by telecommunications at 3.51%, transportation 3.48%, banking and financial services 2.57%, real estate 1.45%, and industry at 0.55%. The consumer goods and services sector, meanwhile, declined by 0.56%.During the week, a total of 678,213,770 shares were traded, with a combined value exceeding QR1.69bn, across 124,383 transactions in all sectors.

Al Jazeera English has won the 2026 RTS Television Journalism Award for Breaking News for its coverage of the fall of the Assad regime in Syria. At a gala event in London on March 4, judges from the Royal Television Society praised the broadcaster for its “visually distinctive ... authentic and impactful storytelling [that] was a superb blend of show-and-tell journalism, alongside powerful interviewing.” Congratulating the team, Al Jazeera English managing director Issa Ali said: “This award speaks to the tenacity, dedication and professionalism of our journalists, and our commitment as a leading international news broadcaster, to ensure that the significance of the ‘what’s happening’ is also being understood.” Events in Syria in late 2024 unfolded rapidly, but Al Jazeera kept pace. It was the first international media outlet to reach Umayyad Square in Damascus, the symbolic heart of Syria. Within hours of the regime’s collapse, Al Jazeera correspondents were positioned in key locations across Syria, supported by dynamic and focused teams in the Doha newsroom. Director of News Ibrahim Helal explained why he is so proud of this award: “Syria has been one of the most complex stories of our time. Covering a 13-year war involving regional and global powers requires us to provide both depth and clarity - quickly. This award reflects the ability of Al Jazeera English journalists to break news while providing context and understanding.” The Royal Television Society Journalism Awards recognise international broadcasting achievements. It’s the second time in five years that Al Jazeera has taken home the coveted prize for breaking news, with its coverage of the Beirut port explosion winning in 2021. 

The Government Communications Office (GCO) has launched its official WhatsApp channel to strengthen direct communication with the public and provide faster access to verified government news and updates.According to the GCO, the channel will serve as an official and verified platform for disseminating government communications issued by entities across the country. The initiative is designed to make it easier for residents and citizens to access timely, accurate information from official sources.Through the new channel, the GCO will share approved official statements, urgent updates, clarifications on circulating information, and direct links to relevant authorities. The platform is expected to help the public quickly access reliable updates and reduce the spread of misinformation.The GCO stressed that Qatar is closely monitoring ongoing developments, noting that the security and safety of everyone in the country remain a top priority. It added that relevant authorities continue to carry out their duties efficiently and in full coordination.In light of regional developments, government entities are continuing their efforts to ensure public safety and the uninterrupted delivery of services. Authorities have also emphasised the importance of following official instructions and obtaining information only from approved and credible sources.The GCO reiterated its commitment to sharing verified information and addressing rumours and misinformation, particularly amid the current regional situation. It urged the public to rely exclusively on official sources for accurate updates.The office also underlined that it will continue to monitor regional developments closely while encouraging the public to refrain from circulating rumours or unverified reports.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched today a specialized training course on news verification and documentation, as part of the training programs organized by the QNA Training Center, with the aim of developing the professional capabilities of media personnel and enhancing their efficiency in various fields of journalistic work.The three-day training course was presented by media expert Dr. Nabil Abdo Ahmed Al-Mariri, with the participation of a number of QNA staff, in addition to employees from various media institutions and government agencies.The course aims to equip participants with the skills to fact-check and document news and enhance critical thinking, as well as familiarize them with the basics of news fact-checking and its importance in the media space. The course focuses on enhancing ethical and professional responsibility in writing, proofreading, and publishing news, and improving participants' skills in reviewing and critiquing news content.The course addresses how to deal with misleading news during crises and exceptional events, highlighting modern tools and techniques used in fact-checking and documenting news.The course covers several key topics, most notably: the concept of news verification, its importance, the historical roots of this function, the impact of fake and inaccurate news on society in general and on media institutions in particular (examples of old and new news), global models, levels of news verification and documentation, and the development of analytical and critical skills.At the end of the course, practical fieldwork will be conducted, giving participants the opportunity to apply the skills they acquired during the training, followed by a comprehensive evaluation of their performance through a graduation project. Participants will also be honored in recognition of their efforts and contributions to enhancing news documentation skills.The course is part of the QNA Training Center plan, which was created to provide a sophisticated platform for training media professionals in an interactive learning environment supported by the latest technical equipment.

Colonists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday morning under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.According to Palestinian news agency (WAFA), local sources said that dozens of colonists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, carried out provocative tours and performed Talmudic prayers.Since the beginning of the comprehensive Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in October 2023, more than 68,000 colonists have stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, amid tightened entry restrictions to the mosque and the gates of the Old City.

Four Israelis were killed, and 16 others injured, some seriously, in a shooting attack in occupied East Jerusalem, Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported, citing Israeli media. Reports said that four Israelis died from critical wounds sustained in the attack, while the attackers were shot at the scene.Authorities closed roads leading to the area as large numbers of police and security forces deployed. Medical crews continued to treat the wounded and transport them to nearby hospitals.

Qatar News Agency (QNA), through its QNA Training Center, will resume its training programs for the last quarter of 2025, starting early September.QNA is set to launch a series of specialized courses covering topics such as news verification, social media monitoring and analysis, photojournalism, news documentation, and website content management and analysis.These courses, delivered by a team of experienced trainers, aim to equip participants with the latest professional field techniques and digital tools essential for journalism and media work.Participants will include employees from various media organizations and government entities, as well as staff members from different departments within QNA.These training programs are a continuation of QNA's approach to enhancing the skills of Qatari media professionals and developing their performance and professional efficiency.The courses are being held at the QNA Training Halls, which were inaugurated in March 2023, and equipped with state-of-the-art training technologies, helping to create an encouraging training environment that keeps pace with the rapid developments in the media landscape.
