Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) and Baladna Q.P.S.C. (“Baladna” or “the Company”), Qatar’s largest dairy and beverage producer, announced today the successful completion of Baladna’s capital increase through a rights issue, with the newly issued shares listed and trading on QSE. The issuance comprised the offering of 535,996,240 new shares to existing shareholders, on a one-for-four basis, at a subscription price of QAR 1.01 per share, with the subscription period closing on 17 August 2026. The process was completed today with the full sale of the 120,507,405 unsubscribed shares at the start of the trading session, resulting in 100% coverage of the new shares offered. Following completion of the process, the Company’s issued and paid-up share capital rose from QAR 2,143,984,962 to QAR 2,679,981,202, distributed over 2,679,981,202 shares, an increase of 25%, making it one of the largest capital increases completed under the Offering, Listing, and Mergers and Acquisitions Rules issued by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority in December 2025. To celebrate the completion of this transaction, a Ring the Bell ceremony was hosted by Qatar Stock Exchange, attended by senior officials and representatives of the executive management teams of both organizations, reflecting the significance of this milestone in the Company’s journey.In a statement marking the completion of the capital increase process, Mr. Moutaz Al-Khayyat, Chairman of Baladna, said:“The successful completion of this capital increase marks an important milestone in Baladna’s growth journey and reflects the strong confidence our shareholders place in our strategy and future plans. This additional capital will allow us to accelerate the execution of our expansion plans, strengthen our production capacity, and reinforce our presence in regional and international markets, further advancing our contribution to sustainable food security. The full sale of the remaining shares reflects strong investor demand for Baladna shares, with the Company’s share price closing the trading session up 1.51% at QAR 1.28, confirming the success and completion of the issuance process. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our shareholders for their continued trust and support, and to Qatar Stock Exchange, the Qatar Financial Markets Authority and Edaa for their effective collaboration in delivering this transaction smoothly and professionally.” For his part, Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Stock Exchange, said: “The completion of the listing of Baladna’s capital increase shares represents an important milestone and underscores the pivotal role QSE plays in enabling listed companies to access the capital markets and benefit from a diverse range of financing solutions that support their growth and expansion plans. The successful execution of this transaction also demonstrates the efficiency of coordination and collaboration among the regulatory authorities, market infrastructure institutions and market participants involved.” He added: “QSE remains committed to developing an integrated and efficient market ecosystem that enables companies to capitalise on the tools and opportunities offered by the capital market. These efforts contribute to greater market depth and a broader range of investment opportunities for investors, while supporting private-sector growth and Qatar’s economic development objectives.” This transaction reflects Baladna's ongoing strategy to strengthen its capital base and diversify its sources of financing in support of its regional and international expansion plans, further consolidating its leading position in the dairy and beverage sector. It also reflects QSE’s commitment to the continued development of the market and to broadening the range of financing and investment solutions available to companies for raising capital. About BaladnaBaladna Q.P.S.C. was incorporated in its current corporate form on 2 December 2019, and its shares were listed on Qatar Stock Exchange on 11 December 2019 under the ticker symbol "BLDN". Baladna is Qatar’s largest dairy and beverage producer and operates a vertically integrated farm-to-shelf business model that contributes to sustainable food security and greater national self-sufficiency. The Company is also expanding its operations and presence across regional and international markets. About Qatar Stock Exchange Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) is the principal securities market of the State of Qatar. QSE gives local and international investors direct access to an advanced, well-regulated capital market covering equities, ETFs, sukuk, bonds, and Treasury bills. QSE serves as an effective platform for listed companies to raise capital, broaden their investor base, and support their growth plans in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third Financial Sector Strategy. QSE operates in an environment defined by transparency, execution efficiency, and commitment to the highest disclo Baladna eyes Syrian expansion in international growth drive

Baladna aims to capture at least a 20% market share in Syria as the dairy producer advances its international expansion plans using proceeds from its capital increase, according to independent board member Nasser Hassan al-Ansari.Speaking on the sidelines of the Ring the Bell ceremony hosted by the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) yesterday to mark Baladna’s completion of its capital increase through a rights issue, al-Ansari said the company incorporated Baladna Syria to build an operational footprint matching the scale and productivity of its main operations in Qatar.“We are expanding in Syria and Algeria. In Algeria, we have a huge project, and in Syria, we are already distributing our product in the market to test consumer appetite,” al-Ansari said.He noted that managing large-scale international ventures requires strict operational discipline to safeguard shareholder returns.“These two international projects are very big, so they require substantial attention to detail so that we deliver profitability for our investors,” he explained.Alongside cross-border expansion, Baladna is broadening its domestic product range, adding ice cream to its portfolio through ongoing product development, according to al-Ansari.“We have an R&D department that constantly conducts research to deliver better products, keeping us in the top tier of competitors while meeting consumer expectations across different price points,” al-Ansari added.

The Qatar Stock Exchange index rose 2% this week, adding 193.720 points to reach 9,876, supported by most sectors.

QSE ends in green zone on improving investor sentiments, eyes 10,000 level

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index rose 2% this week, adding 193.720 points to its tally, reaching a level of 9,876 points in the green zone, supported by most sectors, especially the communications and transportation sectors, which rose by around 3.81% and 2.92 % respectively. Regarding the index's performance this week, financial markets analyst Yousef Buhlaiqa told Qatar News Agency that the positive performance that characterized trading on QSE during this week, as it continued its gains for the fourth consecutive session, amid an improvement in investor sentiment due to indications of easing geopolitical tensions in the region, and renewed hopes for progress in diplomatic efforts related to Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed out that the QSE index rose during the week's trading to approach the 9,900 point level, supported by purchases that affected a number of leading stocks, in addition to the transport sector stocks, most notably "Nakilat" company. He noted that the market movement indicates an improvement in investor appetite with the decline of some of the fears related to the repercussions of the regional conflict on energy and trade markets. Buhlaiqa anticipated the QSE index to continue to higher levels during the coming week, with the 10,000-point level remaining a prominent technical target for the market, noting that extending gains will remain linked to developments in oil prices, the course of regional negotiations, and the extent of improvement in liquidity and purchases in leading stocks. The gains in the Qatari market coincided with a decline in global oil prices, as crude prices continued to fall for several sessions amid growing optimism that arrangements could be reached to ease supply disruptions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz more regularly.

QSE randomised mechanism for opening, closing auctions seen enhancing market integrity

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) has introduced a randomised uncrossing mechanism for its opening and closing auction sessions to curb potential attempts to manipulate share prices at critical stages of the trading session and enhance market fairness and transparency in price discovery. The measure was announced on Sunday as part of the QSE's commitment to maintaining fair, orderly and efficient markets, in line with international best practices and the principles of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) on market integrity and transparent price formation. Financial expert Ramzi Qasimia told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that trading on the QSE begins at 9.30am, with the first trades executed at the start of the session and trading ending at 1.15pm. The closing price is determined based on supply and demand. He said the importance of the new mechanism lies in making the exact timing of auction execution unpredictable to traders, thereby reducing opportunities for speculation or manipulation in the final seconds of the auction while preserving the existing price-discovery mechanism based on supply and demand. He explained that under the randomized timing mechanism, the auction is not executed at a fixed minute or second each time. Instead, the trading system randomly selects the execution time within a predefined window. Qasimia added that this mechanism is used in several financial markets worldwide and is primarily designed to curb attempts to manipulate opening and closing prices by preventing traders from knowing the precise moment when the price-discovery process will begin or end. Under the new mechanism, each listed security remains in the auction phase until the trading system randomly selects an execution time during the final minute of the auction session. Eligible orders are then matched and executed, and the auction price is determined in accordance with the applicable auction rules. Qasimia explained that the opening auction could be executed at any point within a defined window, such as between 9.29am and 9.31am, ensuring that traders cannot anticipate the exact execution time and attempt to influence prices immediately beforehand. He said the same principle applies to the closing auction, with the order book closing and the closing price being determined at a randomly selected point within a defined window before trading resumes at the closing price. He stressed that the change affects only the timing of execution, not the method used to determine prices. Prices will continue to be determined through supply and demand and based on orders in the market. He added that the primary objective of randomized timing is to enhance market integrity and curb practices aimed at influencing share prices at critical points, particularly at the opening and closing of trading.

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) Index closed this week down 3.38 %, losing 338.27 points to reach 9,682 points compared with last week's close.

QSE seen to offer buying opportunities amid expected selling pressure

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) Index closed this week down 3.38 %, losing 338.27 points to reach 9,682 points compared with last week's close. The decline was driven by negative performances across all sectors, led by the telecommunications sector, which fell by around 4.61%, followed by the consumer goods and services sector, down 3.78%, and the industrial sector, which declined 3.56%. Commenting on QSE's weekly performance, financial analyst Mubarak al-Tamimi told the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the index continued its decline this week amid selling pressure, ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region, and the absence of catalysts related to semiannual dividend distributions. He described the current situation facing the Qatar Stock Exchange as a "strong correction," driven by external factors and pressure on leading stocks, particularly those in the banking sector. Al-Tamimi explained that the current conditions do not necessarily signal the beginning of a long-term downward trend, noting that the 9,528-point level remains an important technical support level that could attract the attention of market makers and investors seeking buying opportunities at lower prices. He said the index had lost key levels at 10,205 and 10,100 points, reinforcing negative pressures and prompting investors to exercise greater caution. He added that expectations point to a possible further decline towards the 9,528-point level, which could represent an area for liquidity to enter the market and for market makers and investors to make gradual purchases. Al-Tamimi noted that despite the continued short-term negative outlook, a decline to the historical low of 9,165 points recorded in May 2022 remains unlikely at this stage, unless geopolitical risks escalate significantly. He highlighted positive opportunities for medium-and long-term investors at support levels, particularly in leading stocks with strong fundamentals.

The Qatar Stock Exchange is expected to regain its upward trend in the coming period, with investment opportunities emerging as a result of the decline in share prices recently, according to an analyst.

H1 corporate results, geopolitical conditions seen to weigh on QSE performance

The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) Index ended the week's trading down 0.9%, losing 91.41 points to reach 10,020.84 points compared with last week, under pressure from four sectors.  Commenting on the performance, financial analyst Yousef Buhlaiqa told the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the decline in the stock market index was driven by geopolitical pressures in the region, in addition to the half-year financial results of listed companies coming in below expectations, which led to selling pressure on shares.  He expected the market to regain its upward trend in the coming period, with investment opportunities emerging as a result of the decline in share prices recently, particularly as the upcoming period precedes companies' third-quarter financial results and investors are expected to seek gains based on those results.  He noted that the industrial sector recorded the largest losses, declining 3.18 %, followed by the real estate sector at 2.06%, banks and financial services at 0.68%, and insurance at 0.19%. Meanwhile, the telecommunications sector rose 0.84%, transport gained 0.32%, and consumer goods and services edged up 0.01%.  The financial analyst expected some trading sessions to witness slight volatility, while forecasting that the index would maintain its positive performance throughout the week and post a modest gain by its end.  The market recorded trading volume of 962,072,375 shares in the week, with a value exceeding QR2.57bn, through 109,125 transactions across all sectors.

Japan and US ready to intervene in FX markets again, says Katayama

Japan and the US won't hesitate to intervene in foreign exchange markets again, Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said in an interview with public broadcaster NHK, reports Reuters. "We both agreed that the yen has been affected by years of yen carry trades, meaning speculative activity rather than transactions driven by actual demand," Katayama said in the interview broadcast on Friday. "Both sides have said stated readiness to intervene without hesitation, and based on that, we will clearly explain how Japan's macroeconomic and microeconomic policies can underpin the fundamentals of a strong yen," she added. The dollar fell against major currencies including the yen and euro on Friday after data showed US employment unexpectedly declined in July, raising concerns about the economy and how the Federal Reserve may respond with interest rates. The US economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, Labor Department data showed, compared with economists’ expectations for an increase of 80,000 jobs in a Reuters poll. Data also showed that the US unemployment rate fell to 4.1% last month, pushing the labour participation rate to a near 5-1/2-year low of 61.4%. The dollar weakened against the yen after the report, shedding gains made in recent days in the aftermath of a historic intervention last week between Japanese and US authorities, which had pushed it to a 13-week low.
