HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani met on Wednesday with German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock in Berlin.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to consolidate them in various fields, and discussed the latest developments in Ukraine, Afghanistan and Libya, and the Vienna negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file, in addition to exchanging views on a number of issues of common interest.
During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohamed pointed out that Qatar has followed the military escalation in Ukraine with great concern, and sees the necessity of adopting constructive dialogue and diplomatic methods at this critical stage to resolve the crisis, and stresses respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders.
On the Afghan issue, he stressed the need for the international community to continue cooperation to enhance the capabilities of the Afghan people and enable them to avoid internal crises, move forward in building peace and respect human rights, especially women's rights, provide education for women and girls, and achieve development for all segments of Afghan society, and thus contributing to strengthening security in Afghanistan and stability in the region.
