The Doha chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in association with MES Indian school, organised a virtual 'Career Counselling Event on Chartered Accountancy' recently.
More than 170 participants, including students of Grade 9 and above from MES' various Indian Schools, teachers, members and other professionals attended.
The chief guest, Indian embassy first secretary Sachin Dinkar Shankpal, was introduced by the chapter managing committee member Kishore Alex. MES principal Hameeda Kadar in her address thanked chapter chairperson Nirlep Bhatt and the management committee members.
Middle East and Africa regional director Prabhdeep Singh Baweja explained the level of preparedness required for students for the tough CA exams and various recent initiatives of the ICAI.
The first speaker, Vignesh Kalyanaraman, director Protiviti, explained popular career streams, professional course options, opportunities and avenues for the CAs in various domains. He elaborated on the latest updates about the scheme of education and training. By highlighting the latest subjects and course structure, he emphasised upon hard work and dedication as keys to the success.
The second speaker, Singa Raju, senior member of the chapter and CFO of Al Ahed Holdings, mentioned academic excellence, robust practical experience and leadership skills as the pre-requisites for professional success and shared his inputs in each of these areas to guide the students.
The speakers were introduced by chapter treasurer Kamlesh Tibrewal who also conducted the Q&A. The vote of thanks was proposed by management committee member Rakesh Bahety.
The Doha Chapter of ICAI, established in 1981, is the oldest among the 45 overseas chapters. The current membership of the chapter is approximately 400, who hold key positions in private and public sector establishments in Qatar and are actively involved in support and development of the accounting profession in Qatar.
