A delegation of companies from Germany’s civil security technology sector is expected to arrive in Doha in October to explore investment opportunities available in Qatar, according to the German Industry & Commerce Office Qatar (AHK).
AHK, together with its partners in Germany, is facilitating a market entry trip for German companies from the civil security technology sector as part of the export promotion programme of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), said AHK representative Kathrin Lemke.
Lemke said the delegation “is expected to visit Doha from October 24 to 28.” Twelve companies specialising in the fields of security applications, automotive security technologies, aerospace defence security systems, cybersecurity, broadcast and media solutions, biometric verification services, and IT security solutions, as well as personal protection have already confirmed their participation, she noted.
“As part of the delegation programme, we are planning for an information event where local companies will have the chance to meet the delegation and attend B2B meetings. Anybody who is interested to get in touch prior to the event and receive more detailed information on one or multiple companies can reach out to [email protected],” Lemke told Gulf Times Tuesday.
Speaking on Germany’s safety and security industry, Lemke said security technology is widely considered to be one of the major upcoming industries.
“The sector's growing significance and generous government aid will make the industry one of the winners in the decades to come. The German security technologies market is characterised by high growth and dynamic and constant change, which is helping create numerous opportunities for co-operation.
“Security ‘Made in Germany’ is a strong brand with a high global recognition that is associated with quality, neutrality, and expertise. Germany is Europe's economic engine with the highest industrial output level. The German security technologies market is Europe's largest in terms of consumers. Germany is the R&D leader in measuring and sensor technologies and a major RFID and biometrics research location,” Lemke emphasised.
In March, the AHK hosted its first digital delegation during a four-day event that showcased German companies from the sports, sports equipment, wearable, and furniture sector.
Lemke said, “With the easing of entry restrictions to Qatar and the 2022 FIFA World Cup just around the corner, we are expecting multiple official delegations to visit Qatar in the coming months. We are looking forward to continuing to foster our already strong bilateral economic relations.”
