The Eid al-Adha holidays witnessed high occupancy rates at various hotels across Qatar due to strong local demand, a number of hotel managers told Gulf Times.
The Ritz-Carlton Doha general manager Christian Sack said they witnessed the highest occupancy rates and hotel revenues since February 28 during the Eid holidays as large number of Qataris and resident families took advantage of the various staycation and family experience packages.

These hospitality offerings form part of Qatar National Tourism Council's (QNTC) Qatar Summer Programme, in collaboration with its partners, for residents to enjoy during the summer holidays “as the country prepares to welcome back the world”.
QNTC partnered with hotels to bring residents a wide range of staycation packages and other hospitality deals at more than 40 establishments across Qatar, including discounts of up to 50% on room bookings, hotel packages with an additional free night stay, beach and pool packages, as well as special food and beverage promotions.
“During Eid, we have certainly seen the strength of the local market demand, that with QNTC’s support, reflected the full confidence of our guests,” recalled Ziad Mallah, hotel manager, Al Messila, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa.
He noted that Qatar Summer Programme and Katara Hospitality Summer campaign enabled them to showcase the hotel’s beautiful villas with private pool, as well as its signature Deli Kitchen restaurant.
Sharq Village & Spa (a Ritz-Carlton Hotel) hotel manager Yazan Latif echoed similar statement saying the Qatar Summer Programme is ideal for the local community.
With a strong focus on family staycations, Latif said the programme provides a variety of attractive offers that have a great value, affordable rooms rates and dining offerings.
“We were very happy with the demand during the Eid holidays. The support of the local community was great as we were almost full from the first day of Eid up until August 8. The guests who were spending their time at our beach, pools, and F&B outlets had accepted the social distancing and ‘Qatar Clean’ guidelines implemented by the hotel,” the hotel manager added.
Sealine Beach, a Murwab Resort, also received a large number of guests during the holidays, according to the company’s executive assistant manager, Ahmad al-Abdullah.
“Eid Holiday was busy and it will continue being busy as summer season kicked off where Sealine Beach is one of most attractive destinations in the country,” he said.
The Qatar Summer Programme, al-Abdullah noted, is a very successful and attracts and encourages inbound tourism that will reflect positively on occupancy levels of many hotels in the country.
Other hotels such as Movenpick Hotel Doha focused on creating “extremely attractive staycation packages” during the holidays for new and regular guests, which further boosted the business.
The hotel’s general manager, Sami Aawar, said these kinds of offerings provided “an opportunity for locals and expatriates who have not been able to travel abroad a chance to unwind locally in a safe and secure environment”.
“Whether you are seeking the sun, sea and beach or a fun-filled holiday in close proximity to exciting shopping and entertainment hotspots, the initiative has got you covered and we’re happy to be part of the vast lineup of brands represented as part of the programme,” Aawar said.
Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel general manager Belal al-Kadry shared the same experience saying that guests thronged the hotel during the holidays, enjoying a variety of offerings and amenities while adhering to health and safety guidelines and protocols.
“As Sheraton Grand Doha is Qatar’s iconic hotel and the most recognisable social landmark in the country, we always seek to incorporate the heritage and local element into the experiences we put,” he said.
“QNTC’s Qatar Summer Programme contributed significantly in achieving high occupancy rates during the Eid holidays while ensuring the safety of our guests,” al-Kadry stressed.
