The Sharia Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs headed by Dr. Thaqil Sayer Al Shammari issued a fatwa permitting the provision of zakat money in advance before when it is due, especially in these days when the Coronavirus epidemic is spreading across the world, where many poor peoples have been affected.
The committee said that paying the zakat money ahead of the time when it is due is in the interest of those who deserve it. It added that it is permissible to provide zakat money, especially in these days when the epidemic of Coronavirus (Covid-19) is affecting the world, in which many of the poor are in need, particularly Muslims, and as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches.
