The Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs distributed aid totalling QR 21.7mn in March, benefitting 3,161 eligible families inside Qatar, an official statement said.
Mohamed Hassan al-Tamimi, head of the Zakat Banking Department, said the Zakat Affairs Department is keen to provide assistance to deserving families within Qatar. The assistance provided during March, was divided into periodic, lumpsum aid and Ramadan aid.
The periodic aid, provided on a monthly basis to eligible families amounted to QR 7,660,394. The lumpsum aid, disbursed once as needed was with a value of QR 14,083,967. Ramadan aid of QR 8,197,800 was distributed to 2,625 families.
The official stated that those eligible can submit a request for assistance through the Zakat Affairs Department app or the website www.zakat.gov.qa, supported by the required documents.
The applicants are informed of the status of the requests via text messages. Individuals and companies can also pay their obligatory Zakat through the Zakat Affairs Department's website or collection offices and points across the country.
