The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) to implement the Wellness Programme at Workplace.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, director, Public Health Department, MoPH and Faisal Rashid al-Sahouti, chief executive officer of QICDRC.
“This agreement is part of the efforts of the ministry to promote health awareness among different segments of society. It aims to achieve the objectives of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and the Public Health Strategy of 2017-2022,” said Sheikh Mohamed at a press conference to announce the partnership.
Sheikh Mohamed pointed out that the agreement focuses on enhancing the health and well-being of the people of Qatar and protect them from different risks and diseases.
Al-Sahouti said that the signing of the MoU comes as confirmation of the Qatar International Court’s keenness to provide a healthy and sustainable workenvironment.
The agreement specifies the activities that fall within the health programme in the workplace provided by MoPH to QICDRC and is divided into successive phases that ensure the continuity of the programme.
The Wellness Programme at Workplace was launched by MoPH in 2014 to encourage all employees of government and semi-government institutions to adopt and practise healthy lifestyle in their daily lives. It also provides a healthy and safe environment for employees, and correct malpractices through early detection of risk factors for chronic non-communicable disease.
MoPH has invited all ministries and government and semi-government institutions to participate in the programme. It has already been implemented in several institutions and MoUs signed with several organisations to improve, monitor and evaluate the health status of employees.
