MoU signed to implement programme

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) to implement the Wellness Programme at Workplace.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, director, Public Health Department, MoPH and Faisal Rashid al-Sahouti, chief executive officer of QICDRC.
“This agreement is part of the efforts of the ministry to promote health awareness among different segments of society. It aims to achieve the objectives of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and the Public Health Strategy of 2017-2022,” said Sheikh Mohamed at a press conference to announce the partnership.

“We are planning for a similar programme for the workers at their workplace. This could be a different one as the environment and the exposure are different at their workplace from the office environment of other organisations. Moreover, the number of people at such work place is more. We are studying the feasibility,” explained Dr al-Hajjaj.
According to the official, the Wellness Programme at Workplace consists of three components. “The programme includes three steps. The first step is to provide a questionnaire to all the staff to educate them about various topics such as blood sugar, hypertension, nutrition among others,” he noted.
“The second step is screening for various diseases and the third step is to provide advice to the specific problems as well as the assessment of the workplace. For example, we assess the workplace cafeteria, the type of food sold at the outlet, the colours used in the food or the nutrition of the food sold at the place, among others,” he pointed out.
“Once we have completed all these steps, we provide the recommendations to the organisation based on the findings so that they can implement the suggestions. The recommendations include all the changes needed or other suggestions too. This programme was started in 2014 and so far we have finished with 13 organisations,” added Dr al- Hajjaj.
