“Envisaged by Dr Azad Moopen, founder chairman and managing director, Aster DM Healthcare, we started our operations in 1987 as a single doctor clinic. DM Healthcare Group currently operates a total of 374 healthcare facilities across eight countries with 25 hospitals, 111 clinics, and 238 pharmacies. There are a total of 4,794 beds, including 3,693 in Indian hospitals and 1,101 in hospitals across the GCC countries. In 2019, the group had 18.5mn patient visits to all its facilities with 16.5mn in GCC countries and 2mn in India.
“We have a dedicated team in all the GCC countries, several Middle East countries as well as in many countries in Africa. About 20% of patients in our hospitals in India are from Gulf Co-operative Council countries, the Middle East and Africa. We take care of the international patients from the country of the origin until the patient leaves the hospital after successfully completing the treatment,” explained Dr Pillai.
“We assist the patients in all the procedures such as getting visa, arranging the airline and the itinerary, an assistance counter at the airport as well as Arabic interpreters all through their stay in the country. We take care of all the requirements of the patients to make their stay worth remembering with the most advanced treatment, efficient services, best facilities and the most affordable international treatment cost,” said Dr Pillai.
Aster Medcity in Kochi, Kerala with 670 beds is the flagship project of the group. “We also have three other hospitals in Kerala and a medical college as well as a nursing college. Another hospital is coming up soon. We have two leading hospitals in Bengaluru - Aster CMI and Aster RV Hospital. Other hospitals are in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” he said.
According to the CEO, Aster CMI Hospital has contemporary state-of-the-art facilities accommodating close to 500 beds and offers comprehensive primary care to quaternary care services with centres of excellence in Cardiac Sciences, Cancer Care, Neurosciences, Gastroenterology Sciences, Surgery and Allied Specialties, Integrated Liver Care, Organ Transplant, Urology and Nephrology, Orthopaedics, Women’s Health, and Child and Adolescent Health. “Everything at Aster CMI is designed, keeping in mind the comfort of our patients.”
