Qatar has a strong potential for high-end art, making it a promising market, according to interior designer Marieux van den Broek, who opened on Sunday Interior-Treasures Design Group’s first branch in Qatar.

Van den Broek, together with Beverly Hills Real Estate chairman Sheikh Khaled bin Nasser bin Hamad al-Thani and Regency Group Holding president Ibrahim Hassan al-Asmakh, inaugurated ‘Interior-Treasures Qatar’, which houses a luxury art gallery inside its offices.

“The reason for opening a branch in Qatar is to keep pace with the promising market, which is witnessing a huge growth in construction, especially residential and administrative towers and commercial complexes that have a great character of luxury that fits our business,” stressed van den Broek, who is the founder and owner Interior-Treasures Design Group, which concentrates especially in the residential, corporate, and luxury yacht markets.

Speaking to 'Gulf Times' on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, van den Broek noted that the works of artists from the Netherlands, Belgium, the US, France, and Spain, as well as Singapore, among other countries, are on display at the gallery located at the 22nd floor of the Al Asmakh Tower in West Bay.

“The artists have created these works on display for the gallery… it comes to the point where you bring only exceptional pieces,” said van den Broek, responding to a question on Qataris and their penchant for art. “Qataris and other art connoisseurs from the Middle East love European art, as well as other types of modern art from all over the world, so there is a potential market here in Qatar, which is why we are bringing these different art pieces to the country,” van den Broek continued.

He said some of the most valuable paintings by famous international artists like Picasso, for example, as well as the most luxurious sculptures in the world are on display at Interior-Treasures’ luxury gallery in Doha. “Our business is a combination of interior design and the highest standards of luxury in the world, for all properties whether residential, commercial, and administrative, and even yachts,” he said.

With over 40 years of experience in the world of interior design, van den Broek explained that the company “was able to understand the wishes of all its customers and turn their dreams into reality.” Van den Broek also lauded the presence and support of Regency Group Holding president Ibrahim Hassan al-Asmakh, as well as the group’s wide portfolio of real estate projects, which includes the Paramount Residences Tower Doha in The Pearl-Qatar.
