Juan Karlos (JK), renowned Filipino rock band, along with Katrina Velarde, online singing sensation and recording artiste, is all set to perform in Doha on August 9 at Al Jewan Hall of Al Dana Club.
The concert ‘Summer Jam in Qatar 2019’ is expected to attract around 2,200 spectators. The two-hour show has been produced by DC Event, in partnership with July Dela Cruz.
“We are delighted to bring to Qatar another quality entertainment. Both JK and Katrina are among the most sought after young performers in the Philippines today,” said Victor Magnipes, CEO and Management Director of Doha City Event Management and Services (DC Event).
“We are hoping for a warm reception from our community here for event,” he added.
The JK band, led by Filipino-German singer-songwriter Juan Karlos, was behind the mega hit Filipino song Buwan. Velarde have been receiving positive reviews from Youtubers and online influencers across the world for her music videos.
‘Summer Jam in Qatar 2019’ is its third major concert this year, after singer Sara Geronimo and Philippines’ concert king Martin Nievera and Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha performed in Qatar.
JK became popular after joining The Voice Kids Philippines in 2014, and in 2015, he released his debut album titled JK. It featured eight tracks, including a special song, Di Ka Man Lang Nagpaalam, dedicated to his late mother.
In 2018, he released the song Buwan which immediately became the number one track on Spotify Philippines’ top 50 and also number one on Philippines Viral 50. Velarde, on the other hand, has been participating in numerous singing contests at age 7 before she became popular and performed in various countries, including the US. She is well known for covering the hits of international divas and local singing idols, as well as her impersonations.
“This year, our focus is more on bringing some of the best talents of the Philippines to Qatar to promote our music scene, at the same time, to provide quality entertainment,” Magnipes said.
“Producing a show is not an easy task but we, Filipinos, are known for our creativity, attention to details and dedication to our craft, and those qualities are what set apart DC Event from other event management company in the country,” he added.
Reiterating that JK band and Velarde as two of the most sought after performers in the Philippines, Magnipes believe they are “a perfect combination on stage and we are hoping to target mainly the young crowd and other music enthusiasts.”
According to DC Event, the opening salvo will feature local talents such as Beats & Bytes New Breed and Verve dance groups. Gates will open at 6.30pm and the main event will start at 8:30pm.
Tickets cost QR250(VVIP), QR150 (VIP), and QR100 (Gold/general admission) and can be purchased via www.q-tickets.com. The tickets are also available at various restaurants across Doha.
