The Entertainment City at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre will reopen on August 9 to provide Eid al-Adha holiday-goers with another one-of-its-kind entertainment experience, it was announced.
“We have seen big number of visitors at the Entertainment City, and as a result of that, it will reopen again on August 9,” said Khalid al-Jumaili from the Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC).
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the launch of “Summer in Qatar (SiQ)” activities at the Hamad International Airport recently, which presented an opportunity to experience Qatar’s rich hospitality and culture throughout the summer season.
Al-Jumaili expressed confidence that Eid al-Adha this year will witness a large number of residents, especially families and children, enjoying the various offerings at the Entertainment City, which was open between June 4 and July 13.
The 29,000sq m facility, which has been dubbed as the SiQ centrepiece, features an array of rides, skill games, virtual reality (VR) and video games, live entertainment shows, food court, and pop-up shops.
QSports media manager Qazi Yousri echoed al-Jumaili’s statement, saying that they will be adding more activities at the City, from amusement rides to inflatables and exciting games for both adults and children.
While the SiQ is scheduled to conclude on August 16, he noted that the City will run until August 23 to give residents, especially those who are not travelling overseas, “a great time with their families during the holidays and before the start of the classes”.
“Live performances, rides, shopping, and over 45 food options will be under one roof at the City this Eid,” Yousri said, adding that it received a positive response from the public since its opening on June 4.
The City received nearly 60,000 visitors, keeping both children and adults entertained with a vast ocean ball, Qatar’s first InflataPark spread over 1,200sq m, the world’s largest bounce castle, a Kids’ Driving School, and a Mobile Trampoline Park, a mini golf course, a 1,200sq m skate park, synthetic ice skating, and a child-friendly bull ride, among others.
“We will have new inflatable activations such as the Jump Kingdom, which features different colours,” Yousri said.
He noted that the 6,000sq m area that is dedicated for VR and video games is expected to attract more game enthusiasts from August 9 to 23.
This section of the City hosts some of the world’s most-advanced VR simulators, gaming stations and themed gaming areas, including Pac-Man, Beat Sabers, and FIFA.
