In the rapidly changing education scenario, the 2019 summit of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) will be held from November 19 to 21 under the theme ‘UnLearn, ReLearn: What it means to be Human’.
WISE, a global education initiative of Qatar Foundation, was launched in 2009 and has provided a platform to discuss and debate leading global education issues and trends. Those who like to take part in the 2019 edition of this premier global education conference can register their names through the website of the organisation by completing the formalities.
It is expected that more than 2,000 educators, decision-makers and influential experts from the public and private sectors from over 100 countries will gather in Doha for engaging plenaries, dialogues, debates and tailored networking sessions to reimagine and build the future of education.
The list of speakers at the sessions of the summit include some of the leading advocates of education from around the world, and the plenaries and workshops will discuss many of the most current and exciting topics in education.
WISE 2019 will focus and address current trends and urgent challenges. Some of these range from discovering how to turn whole cities into learning campuses, to debating how students could fund their higher education, and uncovering global ed-tech trends and their implications on innovation.
“In our constantly changing world, it’s more important than ever that we unlearn and relearn the skills and knowledge that will allow us to thrive as individuals and societies. This extends to the way we teach, the way we learn, and how knowledge is shared,” WISE highlighted.
At the summit, there will be opportunities for the participants to pitch their projects, crowdsource solutions to a challenge they are facing, share their inspirational story or offer a workshop by applying to present at one of the 'Get Involved' sessions. Those interested can submit their proposals by September 15 and ‘Get Involved’ in WISE 2019 by speaking in one of the sessions such as ‘Pitch It’,‘Hear My Story’, ‘Help Me Solve It’ and workshops. Those who wish to participate in any of these sessions have to get registered before submitting the proposals.
The summit will also explore “what makes us uniquely human in the age of exponential technological transformation as we reconsider what constitutes a good education, how to educate the whole person, and how to foster lifelong learning”.
The forum also provides a lifelong learning for teachers by ensuring that educators are equipped for a journey of learning to advance how knowledge is imparted to the next generation
Leading to the summit and in collaboration with local and regional partners, WISE will also organise Doha Learning Days from November 14 to 19. It is an experiential learning festival that convenes the local community in an exciting exploration of education through a range of innovative and meaningful activities co-curated with local partners.
Taking place at Education City's ceremonial court, Doha Learning Days invites the local community to celebrate education and participate in learning labs, enjoy wellness and sporting activities, attend interactive talks and much more.
