Alfardan Jewellery, in partnership with Chopard, recently unveiled a 30-piece limited edition of its L.U.C watch in the colours of the Qatari flag, made exclusively for the Qatar Watch Club.
The unveiling took place during an event held at Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha, celebrating the first anniversary of the club.
The ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ features a dual-time function built into the movement to display a second time zone. The limited edition by Chopard is available only to 30 fortunate watch aficionados and collectors in Qatar. To make each watch unique, the owner’s initials have been engraved on the case-back.
The event was attended by representatives of Alfardan Jewellery and members of the Qatar Watch Club.
Alfardan Jewellery president Ali Alfardan said, “We are excited to celebrate the first anniversary of the Qatar Watch Club, and honoured by our continued successful partnership with Chopard, which made it possible to present this exquisite and limited edition of the L.U.C GMT for this occasion.”

Qatar Watch Club board member Mohamed Waleed al-Sayed added, “On this occasion, I would like to thank Alfardan Jewellery and Chopard for making our first anniversary celebration remarkable by the unveiling of the iconic limited edition ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’. Today, we also celebrate that watch enthusiasts and collectors in Qatar are being recognised for their passion for bespoke and exceptional timepieces.”
Unparalleled quality and sophistication are the hallmarks of Alfardan Jewellery, trusted by generations. The company was established in 1954 by Ibrahim Alfardan, a man of discerning intellect who instinctively knew the authenticity of precious pearls and other stones based on their form, beauty and brilliance.
The Qatar Watch Club was established in June 2018 by a group of eight friends who shared a passion for watch collection and a fascination with the world of horology. The aim of the club was to create a social hub and a space for like-minded people who share the same passion, as well as educating new members interested to join and pursue this hobby.
The club established its foundation though an Instagram account and has expanded since to include a website and several watch forums that allow people to share their passion with members and enthusiasts alike.
The ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ "is a true illustration of design, quality, craftsmanship and timelessness that is distinctive only to Chopard’s mastery of watchmaking skills", Alfardan Jewellery has said in a statement.
Crafted in stainless steel, the 42mm-diameter model is an ideal size for any man’s wrist and picks up the colours of the Qatari flag. The burgundy dial bears a guilloché motif and sunray-patterned centre, surrounded by a satin-brushed ring on which the daytime hours stand out against a grey background and the night-time hours against a slate grey counterpart. The same matching shades apply to the burgundy alligator strap with grey stitching, as well as a second strap that is grey with burgundy stitching.

* The gentleman-traveller’s timepiece
The inherently distinguished ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ provides a dual-time read-off powered by an original L.U.C 01.10-L movement with integrated GMT function.
This gentleman-traveller’s watch stands out by the sheer elegance of its details and the intensely practical nature of its horological complication. A modern design and finely crafted finishes make it a perfect travelling companion for the 30 privileged individuals who will have the chance of acquiring this limited edition proposed by Chopard to honour the first anniversary of the Qatar Watch Club.

* An aura of distinction and stylistic balance
The ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ adds an ideal finishing touch to a gentleman’s attire when crisscrossing the globe. Its GMT function serves to display a second time zone and tells the time in any place and every circumstance. When travelling, the timepiece adjusts to the local time while keeping track of the home time as experienced by friends and family.
In keeping with the fundamental spirit of the L.U.C collection, the ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ "is an exceptional timepiece that is easy to use and appreciate on a day-to-day basis", according to Chopard.
A first crown positioned at 2 o’clock serves to adjust the date and local time, while the second crown at 4 o’clock controls the large baton-type hand tipped with a large black arrow and pointing to the second time zone. At 6 o’clock, this hand glides over the date aperture, a characteristic feature of L.U.C watches.

* A finely crafted integrated GMT calibre
This complication is based on the Chopard Manufacture self-winding Calibre L.U.C 01.10-L endowed with a 60-hour power reserve. The ideally proportioned L.U.C GMT function is smoothly integrated into this finely crafted movement, a mechanical signature that perfectly embodies the horological mastery cultivated by Chopard.
In accordance with the stringent quality standards upheld by Chopard Manufacture, the movement finishes meet the highest aesthetic norms. Chopard has decided to apply to it the finishing criteria of the most prestigious watch industry certifications.
Its components are all chamfered and its bridges are adorned with Côtes de Genève. This meticulous finishing is visible through a transparent sapphire crystal case-back. Like all L.U.C watches equipped with a function indicating the seconds, the ‘L.U.C GMT One Qatar Watch Club Edition’ is chronometer-certified by the COSC.
This approach stems from the determination of Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, a passionate devotee of fine watchmaking who devotes great importance to the independent certification of chronometric precision and has chosen to make the latter one of the fundamental principles of L.U.C. watches ever since the creation of Chopard Manufacture in 1996.

* Comprehensive mastery of watchmaking skills
All watch production operations are performed in-house by Chopard: movement development, product design, gold smelting, case machining, movement components, traditional hand-crafted finishes, polishing, assembly, adjustment and movement quality control.
The Maison applies them to the making of each watch in the L.U.C collection that pays homage to the company founder: Louis-Ulysse Chopard (L.U.C). Firmly attached to the pure lines and subtle details that made his watches so highly sought-after, Louis-Ulysse Chopard already knew how to adorn gentlemen with fine pocket-watches.
