Qatar Museums’ (QM) Culture Pass members will have the opportunity to take part in a number of educational activities, art exhibitions and a wide range of workshops this summer. QM, in partnership with the Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), is organising these events and activities as part of the ‘Summer in Qatar’ (SiQ) programme, which started on June 4 and runs until August 16.
Children between five and 14 years old stand to benefit from Mathaf – Arab Museum of Modern Art’s Education Summer Programme, scheduled this July at its premises in Education City, free of charge. In e-mails sent to Culture Pass members, QM said: “The programme introduces children to concepts and practices of modern and contemporary art. Grouped by age, participants will attend three sessions over one week.”
“They will enjoy learning through observation, creating art and presenting selected artworks created during the workshops,” it said, adding that the programme will be offered in both English and Arabic.
Sessions for group A (age 5-7) will take place between July 15 and 17 from 9am to 12pm while sessions for group B (age 8-11) will take place between July 22 and 24. For group C (age 12-14), sessions are scheduled between July 29 and 31.
QM noted that the highlight of this year’s summer edition will witness participants creating their own artworks and exhibiting them at the Mathaf Education Space (Manara). Apart from art workshops, the programme also includes storytelling and hands-on learning activities inspired by the current exhibition at Mathaf’s ‘MF Hussein: Horses of the Sun.’
QM, in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), also announced that Culture Pass members can participate in an array of programmes from tomorrow (June 29) to August as part of SiQ 2019.
