Summer Entertainment City (SEC), which will run until July 13 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), is expected to draw around 12,000 to 14,000 visitors during Eid al-Fitr season, which ends on Saturday.

Qazi Yousri, media manager for Digital Media & Events of QSports, the organiser of ‘SEC 2019’, told Gulf Times on Friday that the reception accorded by the public to the Eid festivities was “very impressive.”

“The local community usually likes to spend the Eid holiday with their relatives, friends, and other family members. But surprisingly, we still managed to attract a large footfall and a very good response.

“In the past three days alone since SEC opened its doors to the public on June 5, we received more than 3,000 people, so we can safely say that we could cross the 12,000 or the 14,000 mark by the end of Eid,” Yousri pointed out.

The official also explained that the “impressive” public reception was because of the SEC’s “interesting performances” and “revamped activities.”

“Visitors will enjoy the amusement rides and skills games that offer many exciting prizes; there are around 85 activities and around 46 food vendors, with more than 100 retail shops representing 25 countries, spread across the area,” he said.

Some of the popular crowd drawers were the ‘Inflata Park’, which made its debut in Qatar this year, and the area’s spacious virtual reality (VR) and eGaming setup.

“For the first time in Qatar, we have brought the ‘Inflata Park’; Hall 1 of DECC is the biggest hall, and it is totally dedicated to the VR and gaming area. Aside from the activities, the SEC offers a huge list of food options, hence it’s everything for everyone,” Yousri said.

The SEC offers a festive atmosphere through regular live and roaming shows, including performances from the popular Georgian National Ballet, courtesy of the Georgian embassy.

Embassies such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, and South Africa have also confirmed their participation, he said.

SEC 2019 is the third annual event organised by QSports, in collaboration with the Qatar National Tourism Council.

QSports also partnered with other entertainment entities in Qatar, including Megapolis, E-blue Gaming, MiniPolis, Virtuosity, Angry Birds Park, and Bounce to offer a diverse range of entertainment and kids activities during the event.
