Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) launched the P30 and P30 Pro in Qatar recently, featuring its "most advanced smartphone camera to date that would take mobile photography and videography to a new level".

The P30 series has a 40MP main camera, 20MP ultra-wide angle lens, 8MP telephoto and 32MP selfie camera, using the world’s first Leica quad camera with cutting-edge SuperSpectrum Sensor and SuperZoom lens.

“This is a device, which will definitely push the boundaries and change users' expectations of smartphone photography and raise the bar for quality in the smartphone industry. Not only does P30 Series rewrite the rules of photography, it also redefines the standards of innovation in technology," said Ian Li, general manager of Huawei CBG, Middle East Multi Countries.

He was joined by Fire Station director Khalifa al-Obaidly who used his P30 Pro to take pictures on a photo walk around Doha last Friday and in some of the galleries, which forms part of the two organisation’s latest art collaboration.

The Fire Station opened a photography gallery and showcased some of al-Obaidly’s pictures – his first photography gallery in Qatar since 2013 – and runs for two weeks from April 10.

“I believe every person is an artist by heart and is able to express himself through art. I had the privilege of testing the Huawei P30 Pro.I challenged myself in one day, and I got this amazing image quality,” he said at the launch of the new device.

A series of art projects and exhibitions, aimed at engaging art enthusiasts and showcasing Huawei’s smartphone photography technologies, will be launched in the near future as part of Huawei and Fire Station’s long-term partnership.

The P30 series can be bought at Huawei showrooms in breathing crystal, aurora and black colours at Doha Festival City, Al Nasr Street, Al Gharafa and all authorised outlets; QR2,499 for the P30 and QR3,399 for the P30 Pro.

According to Huawei, the P30 series’ SuperZoom lens “takes smartphone zooming capabilities to unprecedented territories” where its innovative periscope design enables Huawei to incorporate the telephoto camera into an extremely slim device.

This design uses a prism element to bend light at a 90-degree angle. By doing so, the sensor can be fitted in the chassis and support 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and a never-before seen 50x digital zoom, bringing the farthest objects closer to the user’s eyes.

Meanwhile, the P30 Pro brings a refreshing way to shoot and view videos with its Dual-View video, using multiple cameras simultaneously for capturing.

While shooting, the screen splits into two halves: the lower half shows the wide-angle capture, while the half that’s closer to the front camera shows a close-up shot.

This mode, with its capability to capture dual perspectives, lends itself to capturing large-scale events such as sporting matches and concerts where users can adjust magnification levels as well.

The P30 Pro uses an HD 4,200mAh battery and charges (wireless quick charge or wireless reverse charge) 70% in 30minutes. This smartphone can also work as a power bank for some devices.

The P30 Pro can also produce stunning images and videos in extremely low light conditions, with its Super Night Mode (“night vision” capability). It retains great vision at low light and every frame taken across the long exposure is better with superior colours, dynamic range and clarity.

Huawei also optimised the P30 series camera for Snapchat, bringing more innovation to users who will soon enjoy more experiences using its latest devices.
