*Alfardan Jewellery pavilion hosts 75 top brands at DJWE 2019

The presence of top brands makes the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) a leading show of its kind in the world, Alfardan Group vice-chairman and Alfardan Jewellery president Ali Alfardan has said.

With as many as 75 top luxury brands in attendance, this year’s Alfardan Jewellery pavilion is, by far, the biggest exhibition hall that was built for DJWE 2019.

For the 16th edition of DJWE, which runs until February 25 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, Alfardan Jewellery is housing its world-class brands inside a more than 3,700sqm pavilion.

“We have a lot of new companies for the latest edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, and among them is Tiffany & Co, which is participating for the first time. We saw a huge demand but we couldn’t accommodate them anymore; we even had to remove some offices just to accommodate the current number of participants,” Alfardan told Gulf Times on the sidelines of the event.

According to Alfardan, the growth in the number of participating companies this year show’s is a preview of how robust the Qatari jewellery market is and its significance to the global industry.

Alfardan stressed that some of the biggest luxury houses in attendance at this year’s DJWE are not even participating in either the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show slated next month in Basel, Switzerland, or the Salon Internationals de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) held last January also in Switzerland, as well as another exhibition in Zurich.

“All the companies that are not participating or did not participate in other major exhibitions worldwide like Baselworld and SIHH are in Doha, and so we consider the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition as the biggest and most important event in the world. But, most importantly, it is not about the number of companies but it is about quality, all the main brands are here,” Alfardan emphasised.

He added, “Rolex, which is participating in Baselworld, is here. Similarly, Vacheron Constantin, which was in SIHH, is now at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition. Dior, which is not participating in any exhibition except in Paris is here. Also, Chaumet is not participating in any exhibition but it is here, so what I want to say is that all the important companies worldwide are in Doha.”

Earlier, Alfardan Group chairman Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan told Gulf Times that Qatar will remain as one of the top leaders in the luxury and jewellery industry.

“The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is one of the best in the world, which is why it has to maintain its reputation of showcasing pieces with the highest standards, and Qatar has to stay on the top and it will stay on the top because of the direction taken by the leaders of this country,” he said.
