Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) has announced the launch of the inaugural IBPC Business Excellence Awards 2019. There will be 12 awards in various categories for Indians, non-Indians and Qataris.
The last date for submission is January 15, 2019 by 9pm along with an entry fee of QR2,500. The winners will receive a certificate of excellence, a citation and a trophy at an award ceremony.
“The awards represent a token of appreciation to honour businesses and individuals both of Indian origin and other nationalities. There are more than 6,000 Indian companies in the country. Around 30% of the 700,000 plus Indian community in Qatar are white collar job holders and this is an opportunity to honour the deserving ones. Moreover, this also gives a stamp of approval as it comes from a body under the Indian embassy,” said Indian ambassador P Kumaran.
He was speaking to the media yesterday along with Indian embassy first secretary (political and commerce) Surinder Bhagat, IBPC president K M Varghese and general secretary Sumit Malhotra.
"The awards are focused on individuals who have excelled in the various business fields. There are eight categories for Indians and two categories for Qataris and non-Indians. The awards aim to honour who are CXOs and who have a CEO equivalent responsible position, with a different designation including chairman, CMD, CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, MD, ED and GM, and are decision-makers for their organisation or business, and whose company is registered in Qatar, and operational,” explained Varghese. CXOs are corporate executives whose job titles typically start with "Chief" and end with "Officer.
The award categories are: Best Indian CXO of the Year in the following categories: Retail Company in the ‘Large’ Category (Annual Turnover of QR100mn or more); Retail Company in the ‘Small’ Category (Annual Turnover of less than QR100mn); Wholesale Business and / or Large Trading Company (Annual Turnover of QR20mn or more); Trading Company in the ‘Small’ Category (Annual Turnover of less than QR20mn) ; Professional Services Firm - covering the entire range of services including to Audit, Finance, Legal, Insurance, Healthcare, Information Technology, Travel & Tourism, Education etc; Contracting & Maintenance Company in the ‘Large’ Category (Annual turnover of QR100mn or more); Contracting & Maintenance Company in the ‘Small’ Category (Annual Turnover of less than QR100mn) and Standalone Indian Restaurant
The other categories are Best Non-Indian CXO of the Year in the categories of: Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
Fhe finalists will be notified after initial screening by the judges. The winners will be declared at an event in March 2019.
