Al Ahli Hospital to hold symposium on oesophageal disorders

Al Ahli Hospital will hold a symposium on oesophageal disorders to discuss various advancements in the technologies and treatment of the disorders associated with it.
“The symposium, to be held on October 26 and 27 at Ezdan Palace, will have a number of renowned consultants from Qatar and Europe to deliver various modules,” said Khalid al-Emadi, CEO, Al Ahli Hospital and Medicare Group at a press conference yesterday.
“The symposium will be an opportunity for the participants to exchange their expertise in the field and get new insights about advancements in the field,” he explained.  
Jamal Saleh Hammadi, deputy CEO and director of projects, Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain, chief of medical staff, Dr Siddiq Mohamed Osman Elmalik, consultant, gastroenterologist and Dr Loui al-Fakhri, head of staff training and development department, were also present at the press conference.
“Al Ahli is a registered and accredited CPD centre by Qatar Council for Healthcare Professionals. Since we got recognised as a CPD centre in 2016, we have conducted 106 events so far with over 20,000 participants. It has also led to more than 36,870 CPD hours for the participants. This has enabled the healthcare professionals in the country to get updated in advancements of various fields of healthcare,” said Hammadi.
“The symposium will be for two days and we have seats for 500 participants. Participants can either register physically at the hospital lobby from today (Monday) or the online registration will start from next week. The symposium provides CPD points for eight hours and the fee for medical professionals is QR300 and for paramedical staff,  it is QR150,” explained Dr Hussain.
According to Dr Elmalik, oesophageal reflux is a very common disorder and the symptoms can be mistaken for several other diseases.
“The symposium is of a general nature and everyone can attend the programme. Our colleagues from Hamad Medical Corporation as well as specialists from other countries will deliver the training sessions during the programme. At Al Ahli Hospital, we have a machine to treat these disorders associated with the problem,” added Dr Elmalik.
