As many as 5,017 individuals from across the country were provided free health services by Aster DM Healthcare Qatar on Friday as part of its CSR initiative, Aster Volunteer, to mark the World Health Day observed on April 7.

The free health package included a series of lab tests such as Lipid Profile test with a set of five tests, Complete Blood Count with 14 tests, Uric Acid, ALT or SGPT test related to liver, Blood Sugar test and doctor consultation.
Hypertension, diabetes and other dust related ailments were some of the common problems diagnosed at the medical camps and the doctors provided consultation and highlighted the need for healthy lifestyle practices.
The free medical camps were conducted at Aster Medical Centres at C Ring Road, Al Hilal, Al Rayyan, Industrial Area, Al Khor, Old Al Ghanim and Aster Hospital in Mathar Qadeem from 6.30am to 11am.
World Health Day is observed to draw the attention of people towards the importance of global health and to raise public awareness towards health issues and concerns.
“We had started the campaign well in advance and collected registration through our WhatsApp Health number. In fact, over 7,000 people had registered for the event and we closed registration on Thursday. The camp was open to all residents of Qatar and large number of expatriate families and bachelors have availed the facility,” Dr Sameer Moopan, CEO, of Aster DM Healthcare Qatar told Gulf Times.
“This is part of our CSR commitment. We have made it a policy that all the employees of our group, including me, have to put in 10 hours of CSR work monthly. On this occasion, we have offered a health package of 23 tests. We had also allotted individual slots for each person so that they could reach the facility at the given time and complete the procedures without much delay. The participation has been so encouraging that we are looking forward to conducting more such free camps,” continued Dr Sameer.
“This initiative by Aster Volunteers reinforces our commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all. Aster Volunteer programmes are testimony to our effort to empower individuals who want to make a positive difference in the society and extend a helping hand to the less fortunate” added Dr Sameer.
Aster Volunteers, is a healthcare and wellness initiative of Aster DM Healthcare that focuses on spreading hope, and connecting people who would like to help those in need. Aster Volunteer has already conducted activities like free medical camp, free health packages, awareness sessions and clothes and winter jacket distribution for fishermen earlier this year.
