The first seven days of Shop Qatar 2018 kicked off with the ‘Arabian Week,’ featuring special entertainment and fashion shows at various locations in the country, Qatar Tourism Authority has announced.

Running until January 13, the featured theme will witness an Arabian fashion show at Mondrian Hotel tomorrow (January 10) 7pm. Entry is free.
According to QTA, “the showcase of over 100 looks” will feature designs by celebrity designers, including Yousef al-Jasmi (Kuwait), Sakba Hamada (Kuwait) and Meriem BelKhayat (Morocco). Celebrity makeup artist Hanan al-Najada will also conduct a makeup masterclass at 4pm on January 13 at Ritz-Carlton Hotel. A ticket costs QR2,000 at Virgin Megastore.
Shop Qatar also features a number of fun-filled and art activities for children at Landmark Mall on Tuesday such as balloon twist, henna tattoo and colouring from 4pm to 7pm.
The 30-minute Omani Cultural Show will take place at The Gate Mall Wednesday (January 10) at 5.30pm coinciding with the Dhow Art Pop-up Shop (Ezdan Mall) from 7pm to 8pm and the Sand Pop-up Show (Mall of Qatar) from 6pm to 7pm.
The first raffle draw for cash and car prizes will take place on January 11 at Mall of Qatar at 7.30pm.
QTA said shoppers who spend QR200 at any of the participating retailers can enter a weekly raffle draw for a chance to win cars and cash prizes worth up to QR4mn. The raffle draws will be held at 7.30pm every Thursday (January 11, 18, 25 at Mall of Qatar, Hyat Plaza and Tawar Mall) with two cars and 13 cash prizes ranging from QR 10,000 to QR100,000 to be won each week. The final draw will take place at the closing ceremony on February 8 at Doha Festival City.
Families and children will have the opportunity to see their favourite Aladdin and the Genie characters live at Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall on January 12 starting at 4pm. The festival will also feature an Arabic concert titled ‘Yara and Joseph Attieh’ on January 12 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Free roaming malls shows will continue throughout the month-long festival at all participating malls. These are: Al Khor Mall, City Center Mall, Doha Festival City, Gulf Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Mall of Qatar, Tawar Mall, The Gate Mall, Villaggio, Ezdan Mall and Dar Al Salam Mall.
Retail outlets across the country will offer discounts of up to 50% on a range of consumer goods, including apparel, electronics, cosmetics and accessories for men, women and children. QTA noted that Shop Qatar is the biggest shopping festival in the country and one of the region’s largest and fastest-growing shopping festivals.
