The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will hold the third International Primary Health Care Conference under the patronage of HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan al-Kuwari from November 17-19, at The Ritz-Carlton Doha.

“It is the first such conference since the establishment of the PHCC, as an independent corporation, and the third conference on primary healthcare in Qatar. The international conference will be held under the slogan 'Healthier Communities, Brighter Future' for three days,” Dr Mariam Abdulmalik, managing director of PHCC, told reporters.

"The conference aims to enhance primary healthcare and family medicine status as a basic model of care in the modern health system. It will review the most scientific and medical developments and outputs within the framework of primary care, based on research findings and scientific evidence. The conference will also reflect the PHCC's commitment to health services and continuous development as well as raise the level of awareness and highlight the importance of healthy lifestyles to build productive communities,” he added.
According to the official, the conference will have broad global participation and expected to be a landmark for primary healthcare in Qatar and the region, with the participation of worldwide primary healthcare leaders.
“More than 750 delegates are expected to take part in the three-day conference. Approximately 58 seminars and scientific lectures will be delivered by senior experts and guests from several countries such as the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon and several other countries, as well as leading experts in healthcare from Qatar,” she said.
Dr Zulakha al-Wahidi, executive director (workforce training and development), PHCC, said that the conference would discuss 58 local and global working papers.
“The conference is an important platform for professional and scientific interaction and exchange of experiences among healthcare professionals, and medical personnel to develop primary health services. It will also contribute to deepening expertise and knowledge among primary healthcare professionals, in addition to its contribution to improving performance co-operation and co-ordination between primary, secondary and tertiary care services,” she added.
A total of 11 companies would participate in the accompanying exhibition for the international conference. The participating companies include Eli Lilly Company, Hikma Pharmaceutical Company, Merck Serono Company, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Sanofi, Novartis, AstraZeneca, Abbott, GSK and Bayer Consumer.
