“We have the president of the Green Key International onbard during the conference. We have plenty of hotels lined up at the conference and attending the workshop,” continued al-Shamari.
As for the loyalty programme ‘ Green Life’ which was launched at the conference last year, al-Shmarai noted that QGBC will sign partnership with more organisations during this year’s conference.
“It is an ongoing programme all around the year. Next week, we will sign partnership with more organisations such as Aspire, Qatar Charity, Tarsheed and others. The loyalty programme this year will be linked to the activities of Qatar Sustainability Week,” explained al-Shamari.
“All the events of the Sustainability Week will be linked to the loyalty programme. By participating in the events as well as in the conference, people can collect points. The person who gets the highest points will be honoured at the sustainability awards event. We have more than 100 activities in the Sustainability Week. There are school activities, university activities, awareness programmes, recycling activities, site visits to natural locations in Qatar and many more,” described the official.
According to al-Shamari, the aim of the activities is to raise awareness on sustainability aspects and the environmental programmes in Qatar. He also maintained that QGBC is collaborating with recycling activities in Qatar .
“We have a collection centre in our office for recycling. If you have any materilas of plastic, paper, metal tins or cardboard, you can bring them to the recycling station there. We will take care of the materials,” added al- Shamari.
